Yes, there is a membership fee of $2 to gain entry, and if you can't stomach that, you are going to be very displeased with the prices of the actual merchandise. The fee isn't a profit motive, as its been the same price since the late 90's when I first ventured in after having wondered for years what treasures were inside that pink building every time I drove by. The purpose for it is a gatekeeping function, so that pervs aren't getting weird in there. It's two whole dollars a year, to keep the lowest of the riff raff out and it's worth it to pay just for the look at some of the stuff they have in there. This is not your everyday stockings and garters type of stuff. Trashy is a place for those looking for something unique and special that is part of a fantasy, not just something lacy and skimpy that everyone will have already seen. Sure, they have some stuff like that, but its not what Trashy made themselves known for. This is where you go to find something glamorous with a wow factor that you won't get from the cheesy Chinese stuff. There is a huge difference between a Leg Avenue corset and a Trashy Original. I got the corset of my dreams there around the turn of the century and it still looks great on me now, after being my goto $ outfit when I was working as a dancer in the hottest strip club in LA back in the day. We LOVE Trashy Lingerie. You can ignore the haters. YES, it gets expensive fast, but the QUALITY is superior and outstanding, the workmanship is Top-Shelf, anything you get will be custom-fitted to you, and they happily do alterations. Add to this that the products are So Good that they last years and years and years. Sure you can spend less - absolutely true - but this is a serious matter of "you get what you pay for." My partner and I have gone shopping at Trashy off and on for many years, usually looking for something they do uniquely at Trashy, and adding to our beautiful lingerie collection one set at a time. Such incredibly beautiful clothes! Trashy is lightyears nicer than you typical Beverly Hills "adult" lingerie shop or the utter waste of time and money known as "Agent Provocateur" (i.e. AG is garbage quality compared). It basically boils down to if you can afford it, because you will LOVE what you come home with, and you will enjoy it for many years to come. We probably give them a visit every couple of years, make an investment into some absolutely gorgeous outfits, and have never been disappointed. 100% we will be returning again. They have even allowed us to take some of their existing designs and modify them slightly to match colors we wanted at no extra charge (and even complimented us that they liked one of our custom choices so much that they might make it a regular item in their stock). Around Halloween the store is overrun, so just be aware. Custom orders (we have had several) take a handful of weeks - totally worth the wait. They even make their own accessories to go with the outfits, equally high quality. They charge a nominal "members fee" of like $1, and that is mainly just a way to keep out riff-raff so its perfectly fine. So I have to write a review here after the most recent experience I had taking a girl friend to look for a Halloween costume I feel Absolutely must. It was really quite unfortunate and It was meant to be a lovely experience. As I have shopped with trashy lingerie for a very long time I was excited to share with my friend. I want to Preface this with saying that I have shopped online as well as shopped in store but this in no way Prepared me for the blatant disrespect and disregard and unprofessionalism that we encountered that day.I love to shop and love sharing wonderful experiences with friends shopping this was not it. I read some of the reviews on here and I'm actually quite surprised that there has been nothing of improvement about management here. The man who was rude repeatedly is the manager and perhaps because he's been in business for quite some time so he feels that he can treat customers in that manner and that because perhaps Covid is going on that people don't have many options for things to do. Maybe this makes him feel as though he can be any way. Well you cannot. Customer service is very important. I wasn't really looking for anything but I have wanted to buy some bunny ears and she wanted a sexy corset or cat women costume. We enter the store and first thing he yells is we MUST KEEP MASK ON OR WE WILL BE THROWN OUT. Well we have mask on as do the few others in the store. We see the signs so that really wasn't necessary to yell at us as we enter the store. And it's not much of a greeting either to be honest just feels very rude when he is in the back of the store. I then proceeded to pull out the bin of bunny ears on the floor. There aren't many people in the store for social distance reasons. He then starts going off yelling oh you cannot pull it out it will be in the way even though there aren't very many clients in store. I'm just merely trying to look threw to get what ears I decide on. He was just repeatedly rude. Any question my girl asked just being curt, short, and really just not pleasant. He followed us all around the store. It was just really unprofessional behavior and my friend got really upset by this and did not want to buy anything and I wanted too but his behavior made it really ridiculous too so I did not. The fact that he was so rude which was certainly unfortunate because I was in the market for bunny ears . I do wind up getting from the Hustler store in Hollywood which was definitely a more fun Halloween atmosphere and experience. I love the quality of the products of trashy lingerie but I cannot in good conscious recommend a place where someone would be so rude and nasty. I hope that this helps for him to perhaps see that he could be a bit nicer to his loyal clientele because he certainly lost a client I'm not sure that I will buy from there again online or otherwise. When I can go to Agent Provacouter and buy Nice lingerie and get definitely better customer service not to mention I can go to the Hustler store in Hollywood and get excellent treatment. There are multiple dogs that roam the floor while you shop. The selection of product is super pricey as they claim they make everything in house. Checking out the workmanship, it definitely looks handmade (not in an expensive way). The environment was a bit uncomfy, felt like I was in someone's back house closet. There were some elaborate costumes but they look like they've been sitting there for years. Someone was just chilling on the couch, eating lunch, yelling at someone else across the room. Went here to look for a cute Christmas outfit. There was an older woman at the entrance surrounded by stacks and stacks of paperwork. First of all, it's 2021. Have you heard of an iPad? Or even a computer. Who still has that much paperwork? She demanded I pay the "membership fee" at the door. Which is $2. Weird, but I paid it. When I entered an older white man (who I assume is the owner) greeted me. His 3 dogs were hanging out on the sofa by the dressing room. Which I thought was unprofessional and unsanitary. They DO NOT keep plus sized items in the store AT ALL, and in order to find anything size L or up, you have to go up their dirty, rickety, dusty stairs to find a "plus sized" bin full of cheap quality but marked-up fishnets. This large man came up to me and asked me what j was looking for. I said a robe. He said, for your size *disgusted face*, were going to have to make something, and asked my budget. I was well prepared to spend $2000 for a custom piece, but the way he interrogated me turned me OFF. I asked the manager why he didn't keep large sized items in the shop. This 300 lb man told me that plus size women are "not proportional" and that it's easier to just "make" the items (which costs time and money on the buyer. I asked him if "isn't this the same for smaller sized people. They have different body sizes too?" And he said NO. Like a top heavy size 6 couldn't fit into the same size 6 as a bottom heavy size 6 -_-. THEYRE THE SAME SIZE. Never in my life have I ever experienced such awful customer service from a store owner like this. Even the working employees were extremely apologetic to me on my way out for his tactless behavior and treatment of customers. I came in to exchange or possibly get a return on an item that had a clearly misleading package (black fishnet tights shown on the outside but they turned out to be red when I opened them). I was led to speak with the shop owner and his response was that there wasn't anything he could do about it because he's not the manufacturer and it was already opened. "By California law, if something is opened, it cannot be returned." Lies! As I continued to ask for other options as an unsatisfied/misled customer, he took the item, ripped it open completely, and let everything fall on the floor in front of me. He then proceeded to give me nothing but rude, aggressive responses and disrespectfully walked away as if my concerns did not matter. This place used to be a great unique lingerie shop and is now a dump. You walk in and run into a plexiglass and second door where an unfriendly woman says you have to be a member to shop. Came here for Halloween costumes and immediately as you enter the store there is a guard " or girl guarding the front door that says you have to be a member to enter the store which is $2 for the year. ALL of the costumes literally look like they have been sitting there for 7+ years !! Like sooo old and vintage and dirty !!! I've been ordering and buying their lingeries for years. Their costumes lasts forever!!! Don't think I can find the same lingerie anywhere in the world! The costumes are handmade and brand new as you order. I called the establishment before pickup. If you go into the store to order - it takes two weeks to make. Online takes about 3 weeks to complete. The stitches on the costumes are amazing and like I have mentioned very long lasting. You simply can't get this quality at Victoria Secret, 3wishes, Yandy and etc... the craftsmanship is just not the same. Gals who knows quality costume and lingerie will know what I mean when you receive an order here. When I called the woman over the phone she was super helpful and sweet, so I am pretty surprised about the negative comments. The comments about the dogs - you don't know what someone is going thru, is all I have to say. My costume was $200 bucks. If you don't like luxurious, beautifully handmade items I suggest you try a quick to order and ship place.
