My (USA) family and I just ate lunch here today. Excellent authentic Italian food. The owner and staff are very friendly. Portions were ample and the cost was what I expected. If you want a break from the local food or just crave great Italian, I highly recommend this place. My whole family loved their meals. Unfortunately, I only got photos of the mushroom & cheese ravioli and seafood risotto. Too busy feasting to photograph the lasagna, veal and seafood pasta we had. I hate to say this, but the pasta at this restaurant is not very good. Honestly, I was at Vapiano a few days ago, and that was so much more enjoyable. Yes, frickin Vapiano! Btw I had the bucatini with guanciale, which was quite large compared to what I've gotten in authentic Italian restaurants. With that said, there was no complexity to the sauce, very little guanciale, and you could hardly taste the cheese in the pasta. I honestly think this is a place that people are rating higher because they convinced themselves that it better than it is. It comes off as highly authentic with a cute atmosphere not seen in many locales, an elderly owner who seems to work the front of the house and a homey decor. Pretty cool restaurant, you walk inside and downstairs into a basement which is cozy. The food and service here is pretty good. We tried some prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella as a starter which was good. The pasta mains were ok - tried gnocchi, clams spaghetti, and a few others. Nothing spectacular, but solid italian for the area. By far our favorite course here was dessert. we had the cheesecake and one other (can't remember), which were delicious and disappeared quickly. It is seldom that we find a restaurant we enjoy so much that we go back two nights in a row, but this was it. An intimate Italian restaurant run by an Italian gentlemen and his family, the food was authentic and delicious. We had a caprese salad and grilled Italian vegetables to start. The vegetables were very flavorful and the mozzarella was authentic and abundant. For dinner, my husband had the same pasta both nights, a stuffed pasta with mushrooms and prosciutto in a cream sauce. I had risotto with mushrooms the first night and veal with lemon the sauce the second. Both were good but the veal was sublime! The dessert selection was varied, we tried a lemon tart, tiramisu and a cake layered with chocolate and infused with a berry liqueur. With two petite carafes of wine and cappuccino, the bill was between 1000 and1400 korunas. Quite a bargain. The walls are lined with famous actors who have also eaten there if you need further endorsement. We would go back again! read more

I was a little worried by the outside storefront of the place, but then was escorted into an amazing underground restaurant that reminded me a lot of dinner in a wine cave. The food was amazing. While in Prague for a few days, my friend and I were looking for good food near the square that was not a tourist trap. Wow, I was not disappointed! This is authentic Italian food and you will not be disappointed. I could not recommend it more highly. When you walk in, it appears to be someone's home. The restaurant is downstairs in a quaint grotto style restaurant. The pasta is sublime and cooked absolutely to perfection. We shared a salad and bruschetta to start. The salad was fresh but just merely a salad, very large portion. The bruschetta was fresh and amazing, the bread was cooked that day. Our main courses were a stuffed ravioli type pasta with prosciutto and cream sauce...to die for. Also the tagliatelle Ragu, perfection! I was not blown away by the deserts, but then I never am a desert person. Everything here from the wine to the service is spot on! We are going back for our last meal in Prague!!! And I can't wait. I was in Prague looking for something different that pork knuckles. Saw the reviews on this place and thought why not. Very cool that they sit you downstairs in a cozy basement. First I ordered the salad, it was as fresh as if they picked it that day. Great tasting and with the balsamic drizzle made my taste buds jump. Then I had soup, pasta e fagioli. That was amazing yet simple. Crown jewel was the recommended steak slices on a bed of arugula, with a side of potatoes. The rosemary and garlic made this dish spectacular!! Only to be out down by the perfection in the meat preparation. The slices melted in my mouth. The house wine I could have drank all night, smooth simple but complimented the meal to perfection. The homemade dessert was a great finish and the waitress as sweet and friendly as if I was in her home as a guest. Highly recommend! read more

This is hands down the best Italian restaurant you can find in Prague without having to pay exorbitant Michelin prices. From the moment we entered we were made to feel very welcome. The place is very intricately decorated and resembles a warm Italian family home. We initially felt we had to wait quite long (20 minutes) for our food but once it was served every bite of our antipasti, pasta, seafood and side tasted like heaven. We then proceeded to order more food - it was worth the wait. The desserts in store are freshly baked everyday and tasted just as delightful as their mains. Price is reasonable for this fine dining experience, we paid about €30 each which included wine, starters, mains, seafood and dessert. Excellent place and really good bang for your buck. Went here three times on our trip due to how consistently good the food and service was. Wife had soup of the day multiple times, which she loved. The server brought over a huge bowl of soup and poured her serving, then left the entire bowl, which had probably four more servings in it, on the table. All that for five canadian dollars. I had the caprese salad every time which had about 12 slices of tomato on it along with a whole ball of cheese. It was topped with real premium balsamic vinager which had a high must %. I'd give the place a five but italian food never blows me away, all entrees were good just not mind blowing. read more

I've never been to Italy but I felt being transported there upon walking down the flight of stairs into the dining area. Food was perfection. Starting with the minestrone. The waiter brings out a tureen and laddles it into the bowl at the table. This is a big portion with lots of veg that have been simmered to the perfect softness. I got the seafood pasta that has a few clams & mussels and 1 large ocean shrimp. Pasta was very al denta with a light coating of sauce. Simply addictive. The grilled veg came out at room temp with lots of evoo. Also perfectly done. Lastly there is a dessert case but I ordered a panna cotta since I've never had one before.
