I had the tagliolini with beef. The pasta itself was good, but the beef was unseasoned and bland (1 star off). The sauce seemed to have been made from a can (1 star off) as the diced tomatoes tasted different than the whole tomatoes that were added to the dish later; the whole tomatoes tasted way better. My husband got the pinsa alla diavola, which was like a spicy pepperoni pizza. It was fine, but reminded me of a pizza at a kids' birthday party (1 star off), maybe only slightly better. I made a reservation a month in advance, but did not know I had to specifically request for tables outside on the river. When we arrived, only a few outdoor tables were taken, but was told the rest were reserved, so we were seated indoors instead. When we finished our dinner, the same few outdoor tables were occupied. I don't know why the restaurant couldn't just stagger the guests for the outdoor tables according to their reservation times. read more

Wow! This restaurant was a stumble upon as I walked around the area wanting to see Prague from the other side of the river and to catch the Lennon Wall. It was my second visit to Prague so I was taking my time to see more than the "must see things." As I said, I stumbled onto the restaurant because I was taking in the park where artists were painting, people were reading and I pulled out my phone to use the Merlin app to identify birds that were singing. It was totally picturesque. But I wasn't hungry. So I regretfully moved on without eating there. Imagine the elation a few days later when someone in our group booked a dinner reservation for us at the same place I was regretting having missed! With a group of a dozen of us, I think someone ordered everything on the menu. We were all thrilled. We had appetizers , cocktails and entrees -- everything we had was great! The restaurant is family-owned and we were treated to the son being a primary server for our group. Now and then dad was part of the picture too and we enjoyed the added dynamic. Broschetti (sp?) was excellent, as was my gnocchi Gorgonzola which was beautifully complemented with arugula and walnuts. My son had traditional Italian-style pizza (called pinsa) w sausage. The location of this place is so cool. It's in this park. When we started walking to it, it was drizzly and dark and we thought we were walking through a cemetery. It was slightly scary and beautiful at the same time and they're right there in this darling location down a few steps. Great service great food. We did have the Romanian pizza and we tried the Bolognese, gnocchi, Sorrentino, and Talia Tele mushroom and all of it was really good. Tried some Croatian Merlot, and it was also excellent. I think it is the best italian food i've ever had. I went there twice and enjoyed it very much in both occasions. The dishes aren't that big if you come hungry, recommend taking starters as well. We went here on a weekday around 6pm based on good food reviews. Once you walk the outdoor seating area the ambiance is very tranquil. There is also indoor seating as well. Hostess greeted us and asked how many to be seated? We said only two of us and she said she was sorry but they were all booked even though maybe 20% of seats were taken and we said we don't mind waiting and can grab drinks from the bar in the meantime. She said she was sorry she won't be able to accommodate us but gave us a business card of a different restaurant and said this would be better for us tourists. We just left Piknik Park, wow! The place; along the canal, a bit cool in early October, but outdoors with heaters and blankets and an amazingly warm welcome throughout. Not being fond of the heaviness of the cuisine and the focus on beef and meat generally, we were pleasantly surprised with fish options. After choosing from the menu we asked for suggestions. The owner, serving us, steered us to fish risotto and a fish soup. Both were delightful and just right. Wines included French, Italian and local options. Moravian wines were complex and delicious. The owner took instant care of every aspect of our visit, and combined with the food and drinks it was our best dining experience in our week in Prague. Well off of the heavily traveled path but close at hand, don't miss this one. read more

We discovered this gem of a restaurant while walking back to our motel. The wait staff were delightful to chat with and the service was outstanding. My saffron risotto with shrimp was delicious and my husband enjoyed his tagliatelle with mushrooms. We paired our meal with a dry Moravian red wine and finished with Tiramisu. A really nice oasis of calm beside both a river and the park where the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. We tried the feta salad and bruschetta (really fresh & flavoursome) to start and a "better than pizza" and risotto with cheese & Italian sausage for mains - the "better than pizza" was lacking in flavour on its own but combined with the salad was very nice, the risotto was very tasty and enjoyable. During our short trip to Prague, we stumbled upon this lovely spot as we were exploring Malá Strana, strolling through Kampa park. We crossed a quaint bridge to see a nice patio and heard a local Czech artist playing guitar and singing. We decided to give our feet a rest and grab some food, and I'm so glad we stopped in at Piknik Park. The atmosphere is quaint and classy. This was a terrific meal! We had the seafood risotto, which ended up being two plates full for each of us. Didn't get the bruschetta as I was afraid we wouldn't eat it all and I'm glad because I was right! Saved room to split a tiramisu which was very fresh and really delicious - perfect end to a long day!
