While at my new doctor's office, another patient shared her negative experience with Dr. O and it instantly reminded me of my own, which is why I feel it's important to finally share. I have given only 1 star because the girls upfront were somewhat nice . I ended up transferring to another provider ONE WEEK BEFOR MY DUE DATE after leaving my appointment with Dr.O in tears! As an African American woman It was really important to me to have a African/ African American doctor during my pregnancy, I was actually referred to Dr.O by a coworker who had nothing but great things to say. Day 1 I saw red flags that I chose to ignore. 1: the wait time is ridiculous just to be seen for 10 mins 2: Dr.O always made me feel as if I was a problem whenever I asked Any questions , it almost felt like she takes it as you're challenging her intelligence. 3: I dreaded every appointment because I felt like I was constantly being yelled at , chastised, talked down to or blamed for my heart rate being to high, or stupid things that I really couldn't control . 4: she has a way of talking to you like you're dumb or like youre an annoyance..I would question myself all the time like "maybe I'm being sensitive" or I would excuse her rudeness as just part of her accent or possible language barrier.. This was during the pandemic so I had to go to my appointments alone. I had no one to confirm if what and how I was feeling was legit.. so I constantly gave her chances thinking maybe I am the problem 5: the final straw was after she hit me during one of my exams. Dr.O would get really upset and yell at me because I would constantly flinch and jerk when she would try to check my crevix for dilation:. It was so painful and tender down there and I would tell her that I had a lot of pain, she pretty much threatened to sign me up from a c section since I was a weak woman and I couldn't handle one finger . So this last final time I went in again for another exam on my cervix sure enough I flinched again and she slapped me on my chin HARD , while her assistant was present !! I just remember jumping up off the table grabbing my purse and I told her SHE WOULD NOT BE DELIVERING MY BABY .. she called me by phone a few times to apologize which I NEVER returned. I did also noticed that after i stopped going to her office , she still continued to bill the HELL out of my insurance !!

A friend from work recommended the midwives to me. I made an appointment with Amy Bible. The first visit with her, I could tell this was a godsend. It was a 180 from my other dr. I learned so much in the first visit, I was amazed and refreshed. She literally busts out a pen and paper and draws you pictures lol. I am an extremely ADD person and I appreciate these gestures. Then at the end of the visit I asked her to feel a lump in my breast that I thought was nothing, she told me very gently that it should be checked and got me in literally in 30 mins. Everything turned out to be fine, but my mind went blank. I pretty much forgot everything she said in the visit. I had to call her several times. She is always extremely patient and personable. She is the first health care person I have seen that didn't immediately blame everything on my weight. She told me everyone has their threshold, and finding it is what you work for. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to drop 50 pounds before you get pregnant (I was told this from another dr) I also love that I get to talk directly to her when I call ! She is always on point like were just picking up where we left off, so I never feel rushed but we don't spend a lot of time recapping everything. She has truly been a blessing. I've been diagnosed with PCOS and am having infertility issues. I couldn't imagine going through this with my old dr. I'm so grateful I found this place! I cannot recommend them enough! I used Lonestar Midwives during my first pregnancy. My insurance assigned me to an obstetric…read moreprovider, but I paid out of pocket to see the midwives because I wanted more holistic care. I appreciated that they operated out of a hospital though. They presented themselves as medical professionals who struck a balance between medicine and nature. I wish this had been true. My obstetric providers had been pushing me on some things I didn't like, so I asked questions of the midwives. I asked about being advanced maternal age. I was only 35, and my obstetric providers were using my age as a reason for me to be induced at 39 weeks. I asked the midwives if there was any reason for this. They said AMA is sometimes used as a reason for induction if that's what the parents want anyway, but that if I didn't want to be induced, it wasn't a big deal. At no point did they discuss any of the actual risks with me. At no point did they share any of the statistics. They didn't even mention that stillbirth was a possibility. During my third trimester I started developing symptoms of preeclampsia. I brought this up every visit: "I'm feeling nauseated. I have a headache. I'm so swollen I literally cannot wear my rings or my shoes." Looking back on pictures of me from that time, my face is also swollen. It's something they should have noticed. Although I mentioned my symptoms and they took note of them at every visit, nobody was concerned. Nobody thought to let me know that preeclampsia doesn't always present as high blood pressure in the beginning. Nobody sent me for further testing. At my 40-week (39w6d) appointment, I told the midwife I had experienced a searing pain underneath my right ribs. I also told her my son wasn't moving as much as usual. She didn't seem concerned about the pain. She also told me that babies run out of room to move towards the end of pregnancy. I now know this to be a lie. Babies should be moving consistently throughout pregnancy, and even throughout birth. Since I was almost 40 weeks at that last visit, I asked when they wanted to see me again. I assumed it would be soon. They said no, though, and to just come back in one week. They booked an appointment for 41w1d. The day before that appointment, my son died. I've learned so much more about stillbirth and prenatal care in the years since then. I've learned enough to be angry, both at the things they said and the things they missed. They presented themselves as trustworthy and they weren't. They presented themselves as comprehensive, and they missed things. And while they spent a minimum of 30 minutes with me at each appointment, their primary focus seemed to be on calming my fears without any genuine patient education. They failed me. And not only did they fail me, but they failed my child. My perfectly formed 9 lb baby boy. My child who was perfectly healthy and kicking me only hours before he died. They failed to identify the preeclampsia that killed him. They failed even to warn me it might be possible. My son died in the early hours of the morning of 29 June 2017. I gave birth at a different hospital; the one that was covered by my insurance. My sister canceled the appointment previously scheduled with the midwives for the following day. They didn't call me until the following Monday. That day, I spoke with one of the midwives. I don't remember everything she said, only that it felt perfunctory. And I literally never heard from them again.

When the option suggested was to have them removed, he said "we use the robot". This is supposedly a new procedure designed to address fibroids. It was my understanding that it was less invasive than the conventional approach. After going through the surgery, he said that the amount of material removed was the equivalent to the size of a uterus. A year later, I was having problems. When I go to another doctor (in a different town), I am informed that I have a fibroid about the size of my uterus? I was confused as I was under the impression that the all fibroids had been removed. Even so, it took over 5 years for the fibroids to go to the size they had been before the surgery. Am I to understand that this new fibroid grew to its size in less than one year's time? Finally, I feel that the suggestion to use the robot for the surgery was done so because he had just completed training in the usage of this tool. During the surgery, 2 doctors were present: one as the teacher, the other as the student. I can confirm that 2 doctors were not to be present as my insurance company: United Health refused to pay the fees for the second doctor. Now that I have switched to another physician, obtaining my old records is proving to be somewhat difficult at best. That is my take on this doctor.

All of the doctors I had seen agreed that bc would, in fact, stop the growing but it wasn't the growing that was the issue. Simply because he understood that as a 15 year old girl the fact that I was self conscious about my large stomach was the actual issue here. However, he would not do a c-section on a 15 year old. Given that at the time the "belly button surgery" was still new, he was very open about the risks. After many years later I don't have a single scar from the incident. I've had follow up appointments with him about my condition since, and each time he's always listened to my concerns. Unfortunately, I don't live in SA anymore and most of the doctors I talk to now aren't interested in addressing me like Dr. Casiano did. I really do miss being able to see someone who was willing to care about my condition.

He truly treats his patients like family and never makes you feel rushed. He takes his time, listens carefully, and is always thorough, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. What means the most to me is that he is also there when it really counts. I've had to call in the middle of the night and on weekends for emergencies with my son, and his after-hours care is amazing. He calls back quickly and delivers excellent patient care. I also appreciate that he has such a consistent and caring team. His nurse and receptionist have been there since I was a child, which says so much about the environment he's created. I can't recommend Dr. Montemayor enough. As new parents, my husband and I met several pediatricians in the San Antonio area to get to know them before our son arrived. Many pediatricians found it strange but Dr. Montemayor was not phased one bit. He answered all of our questions and made us feel welcomed. He ultimately became our pediatrician of choice. When our baby arrived (and in the midst of sleep deprivation) the anxiety levels were at extreme heights for us. The world suddenly turned into a VERY scary place for our sweet newborn baby. I remember four days after delivery we visited the office for our first appointment. With the high levels of anxiety, I was on the brink of tears and felt a strong sense of inadequacy. Dr. Montemayor picked up on this and became our number one cheerleader. I left the office feeling like a champ. My experience here was not the best. From the start I was told things about the specific birth…read morecontrol I was taking that did not align while I was on it. Was told my period would stop completely and then ended up having it stay for the next 3 months consistently. Having concerns, I called the office and got connected to the nurse line where I was then told that everything I was told in my original visit was a lie and that it evens out around the 3-4 month mark. After being told that they recommended I continued with the BC to see if it evens out. Unfortunately that BC does not work with my body and I have been on my period for about 4 1/2 months now. On my last visit I was very anxious going in just since I have a rough medical history and from the start I was not called back politely and the lady had a very rude tone in her voice. Once I got with the actual doctor, Sarah, I was trying to tell her my concerns and my experience with them so that she could treat me fully and she cut me off after every other word I would say. I am young and it can be hard to speak up but I gathered the courage to say "Can I please just speak" and Sarah looked taken aback and rolled her eyes a little. I then told her that I just felt like I was being interrupted a lot and that I didn't appreciate that and she just tightened her lips and had a rude look on her face while I explained my experience to her. We then started talking about other options and she said that for now we should double the BC so I then asked with my medical history if she would recommend that and she looked very confused and turned the page and saw everything I have gone through over the past year and a half and was very shocked. I did not feel comfortable then knowing that they don't fully read the charts/medical history for their patients. I left very uncomfortable and upset holding back tears just because of how anxious I felt from their energy there. It took some time to leave a review but I decided that it needed to be out there from how awful this experience was.

I was extremely anxious about coming to this facility after finding out that my baby was positive…read morefor Tisomy 21. After much deliberation, my husband and I decided that a termination was what was in our best interest. As a child with Down syndrome is considered to be fully functional and able to live a good life, no OB would perform my D&E - but one OB did refer me to this clinic. I was 16 weeks along at the time of my procedure and it was very professional and as pleasant as a termination could be. Upon arrival, I checked in and waited to be taken to the back. Once taken back, i was placed in a very comfortable rocking chair with curtains for privacy. A nurse gave me Zofran for nausea then came to gave me my IV. * I opted for general anestesia as I did not want to be awake for the procedure (it is $400 more and I 100% recommend it - the anesthesiologists was absolutely amazing and I felt zero nausea or groggyness). Once I had finished my IV, they moved me to a hospital bed where they gave me two pills that will give you some cramping and the shakes - this is to soften the cervix and prep it for the termination. I am a pretty anxious person, so my anesthesiologist gave me versed to help pacify my nerves. After 30 minutes (which is the amount of time required to wait after taking the medicine) they took me back and laid me on a table. 20 minutes later I was waking up in recovery completely aware and alert. They ask you to pee and push/massage your uterus as you change then they send you on your way! Super easy and each of my nurses were so sweet and try to make you smile every step of the way. As my pregnancy was planned, they did provide me with a token as a remembrance of my baby that brought tears to my eyes that I will forever hold dear to my heart. I would definitely recommend this clinic to any woman who is looking for this procedure.
