I would strongly recommend anyone looking to us Travelsafe Bus hie to reconsider.
I booked a coach though Travelsafe to transport wedding guests to/from my sisters wedding in June of this year.
The booking was deposited and full paid on time as requested and the reservations team whom where lovely to deal with, Unfortunately the same not be said for the aftersales team and drivers.
Despite the booking being confirmed on a number of occasions prior to the wedding on the day before the wedding I received a call from a very poorly english spoken man claiming to be the bus driver and advising me that he would not be picking the guest up as he was unable to drive is bus down the street to the pick up location. I advised him that a number of buses have been to this pick up address in the past with no problems, he continued to tell me he would not be picking up.
Immediately I called Travelsafe Melbourne office and spoke to a man (whos name I do not recall), he advised he would look into this and call me back. About 1 hour later I tried to call back Melbourne office whom where now closed , a number of attempts to the emergency number also went unanswered.
The following morning (day of the wedding) I did receive a call from "the boss" of the driver who advised me that he would now be sending two small buses with more experienced drivers to transport guests to/from the wedding, I was happy with this outcome.
As promised at 230pm the 2 mini buses departed from the pick up address and took all guest to the venue safety, I was not one of these buses as I was in the bridal party but from all accounts the journey was safe expect for the driver of the Automatic bus being on his phone for the entire journey (hands free) which was not a problem.
After the wedding both mini buses arrived at the venue as planned for a 1025pm departure.
Myself and most of my family where on the second bus and from the moment we left the venue there was concern about the driver and our safety.
Upon leaving the venue the bus stalled over 3 times and would roll back a number of meters each time the driver attempted to restart it.
In the distance on top of the hill I could see the other mini bus stopped waiting for us, we adventurually got out of the ditch on the side of the road that we had rolled into and made it up the hill.
Whilst following the other mini bus our driver was travelling around corners at an unsafe speed to the extent that passengers where needing to hold on to avoid falling off their seats.
About 10 mins into our journey the mini bus in front took a turn which our driver did not get to quick enough and the other bus was lost in sight. At this point all passengers where aware that the driver did not know where he was going and insisted he had to follow the "other car", he did not listen to us despite many attempts to let him know he was going the wrong way, about 15mins into the journey we passed the wedding venue where we had started.
The driver repeatably tried to call the other driver using his phone to his ear never stopping the bus.
At this point one of the passengers walked from the back of the bus to the front telling the driver he needed to get off his phone, concentrate on the road and listen to our instructions on which way to go.
The driver refused and continued keep calling the other driver whilst driving on dark winding roads that he was clearly unfamiliar with at an unsafe speed.
This continued for a few more minutes before one of the passengers confiscated his mobile and ensured he followed our directions.
50mins into a 30min journey we made it back to the drop off point, all passengers including myself feeling VERY shaken and physically sick from the drive.
The following business day I contacted Travelsafe to make them aware of the situation and ask for it to be investigated, I spoke with Dave whom I was lead to believe to be the manager and seemed to be very unconcerned about what had happened. Dave asked me to send him an email with my complaint in writing which I did.
Over the course of the next 2 weeks I made a number of attempt to call and email dave with limited response and even being told that he was busy quoting a large tender in Sydney, he would look into my compliant when he had time.
I would strongly recommend anyone considering using Travelsafe to look into alternative operators. read more
