Wow, just wow. the level of incompetence of stan the man is staggering. Stan the man sent us the completely wrong itinerary for our 3 week Ireland vacation. So all of our plans we had made with friends and family were ruined. We had to then change out entire trip to a different itinerary. I hadn't flown since 2007. My husband is gone and I would be traveling alone so I decided to use a travel agent to help me set up a trip to Atlanta to visit my college roommate of fifty years ago. Shelby was wonderful. I have physical problems that limit my mobility so she arranged for me to have Delta assistants to help me every step of the way. She booked all my non-stop flights, hotels and my car rental with Onstar since I use it in my car for directions. I had a wonderful week and plan to have Shelby help me plan more trips. Terrible experience. I went to Travel Crafters to help me plan a trip to the Amalfi Coast. I had some information from on-line sources but needed help putting it all together. They charged me $150 "planning fee". I have never been charged a planning fee from a travel agent but paid it. After that Travel Crafter refused to set up a conference call or help me with the info I found on line or to research airline flights, etc. They did NOTHING. So, we decided to cancel the trip. I have emailed them 3 times and requested a refund since no "planning" has taken place. No response from them. I should have put the planning fee on my credit card and then disputed it but instead gave them a check. Live and learn. Just don't want anyone else to get caught in their game. Travel Crafters must not be doing very well if they have to charge planning fees and then won't reimburse you after doing nothing. read more

My wife and I stopped in an saw Stan two weeks ago, spending a good deal of time with him, giving him our information, etc., for travel plans. He tells us he'll get us something either that Friday afternoon or Monday. By Wednesday I've not received anything, so I call him and he tells me he had a medical emergency. So, I give him all our information again and he again tells me he will email me the specs that afternoon. Nada. Fortunately he did send some info the next day, late. Wasn't helpful though. Why? He sends ONE location. ONE. What am I going to compare this to? What other hotels, rental car agencies, etc., etc., are available? What's the different pricing? Nothing. If I need to research this myself, why do I need a travel agent?? And, as if that's not bad enough, he never follows up with me. So, that's fine. We'll go somewhere else to book our travels. We will be traveling a great deal, so their loss. It's just the typical lazy, 'I don't care' Prescott attitude. Stan the worthless man needs to retire and let others work with clients. With that said, the other owner Belinda isn't much better. When I called back to speak to Stan, I asked for Belinda and actually spoke with her, asking her if SHE could help us. Oh no, puts us off on Stan for a second time. Mistake. But whatever. I guess here in Prescott they are 'good enough,' based on other reviews. Sad. read more

We had the same experience at Kris above (must be and something with the name - mine is with a Ch.) The first meeting with Stan was fine & we booked a Princess NZ cruise with him. Thereafter communication was terrible. There were times when it took him a week to respond to my questions. I sent a screen shot of the flights I wanted & he booked completely different flights. He claimed it was because I changed my plans several times. We actually changed the date of the cruise once. We were planning on 4 days pre-cruise in Sydney and I did some research on hotels. However, I received an email from Stan with some hotel suggestions. Thinking maybe his company had some kind of relationship with those hotels I asked about getting me a quote on a hotel mentioned in the email and also said I was looking at another hotel. His reply "go ahead and book on your own." The best was when I emailed/called to make final payment. Know that you cannot even get the amount from the cruise line yourself if you book through a travel agent. So...I get a call from someone in the office and am given an amount WAY BELOW what I knew final payment should be. I'm then asked to verify the last 4 digits of my credit card and it was not my card numbers. Obviously there was an error and they needed to call back. I then did get the correct balance with correct cc numbers. A week before the cruise I receive an email saying something about booking shore excursions. Are you kidding? A week before the trip most would be sold out. Luckily I've done several cruises and was savy enough to book way in advance of the trip. OK, there was one plus - Stan did get us a bit of a discount (couple hundred dollars) when the price went down. But - do yourself a favor. Book directly with the cruise line and you will save yourself a lot of aggravation & receive better communication. read more
