This is a Premier Inn hotel on the fringe of Sheffield's city centre surrounded by lots of local…read moreamenities (supermarkets, discount stores, banks, restaurants, etc) and in a close proximity to tram and bus stops. I stayed here over the course of 2 weeks on business. During my stay I have a walk around the area and I found many jobless youth standing outside the nearby Job Centre in the day and homeless people roaming the streets in the night. Premier Inn hotels pride themselves with guaranteeing quality sleep. This by offering comfy beds and quality sound isolation. The beds were comfortable. Nevertheless, the sound isolation wasn't up to the standard of the rest of Premier Inn hotels that I stayed in previously. Traffic noise, especially buses, found its way to leak into the rooms and Exhaust fans were noisy. Also, you could here footsteps coming from the corridor. This will be problematic if your neighbouring guests were party animals. The staff were cheerful and respectful. They didn't hesitate to offer help. I parked my hire car in the NCP car park to the rear of the hotel at a 50% discounted rate for being an Premier Inn guest. I enjoyed my stay in this Premier Inn. I hope they can upgrade the noise isolation. I recommend it for business guests who would like to have a place to do work in the area.

This was our fourth visit to this festival, but we have stayed in a couple of different hotels over the 4 years. The first couple of years we stayed in St Mary's Gate Premier Inn. Now, as Prem's go, this is quite a nice one... however... It's a Premier Inn (so you know exactly what you're getting). The last couple of years the hotel seemed to twig that something was going on and put up their prices to make the stay really blinkin' expensive (and thus worth us looking elsewhere). A quick search on the internet turned up the Copthorne Hotel. About a 10 minute walk away from the venue, free parking, free wifi and 4*. It was also a good £100 less than the alternative, so we booked without doing much research. Oh My.... What a find. The Hotel chain in the UK is mostly made up for 4* and 5* hotels which are located in most of the big cities you would expect them to be. When we checked into the room the first time, we were very pleasantly surprised. Spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. There is a fridge in every room and steam-proof mirrors in the bathroom (a lifesaver at a festival). The bed is mega comfortable and the all of the rooms are soundproofed as well (meaning you're not woken up by various people stumbling in in the wee small hours of the night). The staff are really professional and friendly. They've never once treated us any differently to the other guests when we've turned up in our "going out" gear and have always been extremely helpful when we've had any requests as per the room or facilities. Our stay over bank holiday weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) cost us £154 without Breakfast (but other guests scored the stay for £103). It will forever now be our go-to booking for visits to Sheffield.

The rooms are amazing, with free internet, very modern decoration, a hidden fridge, kettle and large flat screen TV with all the sky sports channels. The bed was very comfortable. The bar and restaurant couldn't be faulted and the staff were nice and helpful. And to cap it all it's attached to Sheffield Uniteds football ground, there is plenty of car parking room and the hotel is only a short walk from the city centre. I would definitely use this hotel again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived, and the check in was easy and prompt. The room was really big, great bed, good sized bathroom and great view of the spacious car park. There is a really large spa as well which offers fantastic treatments for great prices. The dining area was really large and breakfast was a massive buffet which was more than ample considering it was included in the room price.

It'd mean you would only pay just under £11 each! The staff we encountered seemed very friendly, and I was really pleased to see that they had a little shop area, which is really useful in an out of town hotel. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't require a luxurious hotel, but wants something cheap but not shabby or dirty.

Breakfast is a good deal if you like cornflakes, toast and croissants but best of all it comes with not only tea and coffee but hot chocolate and fruit teas. No wi-fi in rooms and service in reception area provided by 3rd party so staff weren't able to help with problems. It's a stones throw from Sheffield Arena and a short walk to the tram stop. We stayed in this hotel as we had a works Do at another hotel but that hotel was already full…read more We booked the 'Executive Suite', if you can call it that, more like a maisonette. There was a very small double bed, and for myself and my partner, who is into weightlifting it was not a comfortable night! Sink and cupboard (no plates or cutlery), microwave next to the bed and a very small, old TV. The facilities are very old and dated but the room itself was clean. There is no lift in the hotel and we were on the top floor, through about 8 doors to get to the back of the hotel to the actual stairs. The stairwells were used as storage for all kinds of things (very unsightly). The room was cold and no way of turning any heat on. No complementary bottles of water. We couldn't get our car onto the carpark. We arrived just after booking in time and it was full. Probably enough room for around 10 cars at a squeeze. We had to park on an NHS car park and pay for 24 hours further down the road. We have staying in many hotels in our time and I must say this has to be one of the worst. In need of updating and tidying in general. The staff are friendly enough. I can't comment of the complementary breakfast as we decided not to stay to eat.

The facilities are old, keeping classic features, but well maintained. Room interior decoration has been refurbished to modern (functional, in compliance with all standards and less costly than antiques) standard. My room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. They are proud of the restaurant and their first-class refined dishes. Yes, they are quite right but you might need a prior booking to secure a limited number of seat at the peak dinner time. I made a couple of suggestions with regard to this constraint. Later I received a very English-mannered polite letter genuinely appreciative of my feedback. Their cozy classic-architecture of full of mahogany bar is lovely. I enjoyed it while waiting for my dinner seat. Concierge is also classic-mannered English. They arranged a taxi right away to send me to the race course (wishing me the best of luck of course! and I won that day, thanks). I have uploaded Doncaster racecourse's pic on that day. It provides a room only facility and if food is required then the Little Chef is convenient and provides good service. The rooms are basic with a double bed and a sofa-bed with a pull extra bed for a child. The rooms are en-suite and clean towels are provided. The room also has a desk/dressing table and a terrestial tv. The rooms are double glazed to keep noise out, but beware that if you like to have to window open for fresh air, the A57 outside is fairly busy all night with lorries. We used this Travelodge as a base when we visited Clumber Park (which is about 10-15 minutes away) and Sherwood Forest (less than 30 mins). It is also convenient for South Yorkshire and the East Midlands

lovely stay if your visting the area…read more the rooms are a good sized, lovely comfy double bed so pleanty of space heehee. as the other review says they rooms also have a sofa bed so ideal for the kids so you dont have to pay for 2 separate rooms! a lovely stack of fresh towels and 2 dressing gowns too! soap and shampoo in the bathroom just incase you forgot yours. althought you are really close to town anyway so could have a good look round and get some nice shopping done too whilst in the area. on site there is little chef, burger king and the total garage, if you go down to the next round about there is mc donalds,another petrol station and sainsburys too which is fab. along with several bar,pubs,club around too so plenty of entertainment. a good place to stay and great prices too.

However you don't stay inside a hotel because the outside is beautiful, you stay for the rooms amenities, layout, hot water, room service, etc. The WaterCloset: The linoleum tile in the bath room was coming up. There was clearly water damage in the water closet. When you open the door to the WC it opens into the WC, which would be fine if the layout was different. Instead of adding a *pocket door* thy made the door open to the tub. So when you step out of the shower/tub, you conveniently step on the door stopper! Ouchies. The door stopper is literally in the middle of the step out of the tub. Hot water was meh. There is a tub but you can't soak in it comfortably. The shower head was okay. Mixed reviews (ak unreliable) on water pressure and temperature. Depending on time of day. The Room Layout: Family was staying in the two level room, and meh. If you wanted space I would argue you don't get much more. And if you're older the stairs may seem fine but family review said the two story not worth it. I would agree, it felt smooshed. The double room with two twin beds were meh. There is no air flow in the bed rooms like in America. The UK also clearly doesn't know what a GFI outlet is, good luck if you think you can do your hair in the bathroom. And the window in our room was a sky light so if there is a fire and you can't jump up and at a 30 degree angle inward, and the fire is by your door... good luck. The Staff: Mid. No wow factor. Didn't seem too much to care about the guests stay. Interacted with three front desk gentleman. Their uniforms could be improved. Very cheap uniforms. Location: Good location to downtown. But there are other hotels nearby to stay at. Overall: Overpriced and overhyped.

I loved the location overall. It was close to everything I needed in Sheffield, and being in the town center during the holidays made it even more special. The customer service at check-in was the fastest and most polite I've ever experienced while traveling. The rooms were a little quaint, but they were clean and quiet. I also appreciated the option to skip daily room cleaning, which came with a voucher--I saved them up and enjoyed a great late drink. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I will definitely stay here again when visiting family.
