I made a HUGE mistake booking here, I deiced to pay £50 more to stay here than another hotel,…read moredouble bed increased to king size bed, 2 star to 3 star hotel, I though it would be worth the extra. king size bed was 2 single beds. dated key card locks that did not work, thankfully my phone could bypass all the locks and I set it to master key mode to unlock every room in that side of the hotel. free wifi was 0.35mb for the whole hotel, the bar had better toilet paper than the rooms, the shower temp had a mind of it's own, at the lowest setting i almost got burnt. free car park is for 8 cars if that, staff park in loading bays and hit each others cars while laughing curtains were hanging off the wall, mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the table lamp was arcing due to damaged insulation, carpet was in need of a hovering. dirt and hair clips on the bathroom floor. £175 for 2 nights - £12.50 extra for a cup of tea in the morning per person per day which I refused to pay. I had family staying in the OLDER side of the hotel, rooms were larger, with KEYS that worked. on exit I was informed they will be changed to the key cards that don't work soon. after the 1st night i TRIED to find someplace else to say for the 2nd night but it would have been a further £160+ to get anyplace else that night

This hotel would get FIVE STARS if not for a few mistakes, that can only be chalked up to mediocre hotel management, excluding their elevator that makes a horrible noise as if it's going to detach and plunge me to my death (please fix that). First of all, there is no access to ice machines, or ice bucket in your room. You must visit the bar for both. You could probably call it up, but that is always a hassle. People at the bar seem like they're forced to be nice to you, but if could have been a bad day. I'd stay at this hotel again and again. I highly recommend it, if not for the tiny fixes to make it a FIVE STAR. The towel warming rack in the bathroom is a nice touch. Please fix the elevator. Lastly, the worst trait of this hotel is the waiter staff during breakfast in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I waited so long for our coffee, tea, and toast that it had to be reordered. Suddenly the reorder comes to our table with black tea instead of green tea. Within seconds later, after a half hour of waiting our original order comes. The waitress is completely confused. In this time, we already ate the self-serve part of our breakfast. Completely and utterly ruined. Still, I would return.

There are loads of bars and restaurants nearby, and it's a 15 minute walk to the city centre (there is also a Quayside electric bus which takes you to the centre, or you can take a taxi from outside the hotel). Now on to the interior...I just love it! It's dark and sensual with a lot of purples. The rooms are spacious, and the suites are fantastic: luxurious comfort is how I would describe it. And those beds?! Amazing night's sleep. My husband is American and it's traditional to host a Rehearsal Dinner before your wedding. We held this is a private dining area in the brasserie and from all the planning to the actual event, I could not have had better service. The food is all made on site by the chef and his/her team, and it was delicious. The spa is really adorable, and a lovely place to come and relax. We had a couple's massage. The staff were extremely professional and I loved chilling out in the relaxation room. 5/5 for everything about this place. We had such a great experience from start to finish.

Come out of the station, turn right and you'll see it. - The rooms were really big, with decent sized bathrooms - The breakfast was included in the room rate and wasn't bad (the croissant wasn't fresh but at least they provided lots of fruit, and lots of tea!!) - They do nice things like leave you complimentary water, juice and a kitkat - The staff were really friendly and helpful I heard a few people mention that their room were noisy when trains arrived/departed, but my room was fine... LOVELY STAFF. GREAT ROOM…read more I asked for a quiet room and boy did I get one (415). I stayed for three nights and slept like a log each one. Best three nights sleep in ages. Every single member of staff I dealt with was warm, friendly, gracious and super helpful. Everything was excellent but there were a few things missing that, if available, would've made my stay super excellent. -No Room Service: I was staying alone for three nights and didn't like the idea of sitting by myself in the restaurant to eat my meals so room service would've been preferable for me. Because of this, I was spending money elsewhere and bringing food to my room so you lost revenue there. I'm sure a lot of solo travellers probably do this.  -No Fridge: I also brought some small snacks and drinks for my stay and there was nowhere to store the things that were required to keep chilled. Real milk (not a fan of hotel UHT milk), pop, wine, salsa, yoghurts, etc. -No Safe: I had to carry my laptop everywhere with me as there was nowhere in the room to secure my high value belongings.

But slowly, there are little things that have made me like the place more and more. Sure, it's still average, it isn't going to make for a memorable experience, but it is comfortable and relatively well maintained. I'm in here every week, and it's nice that from the 2nd/3rd week in, the staff knew my name. My previous stay, I barely registered over 3 months of weekly visits. I stay in the superior rooms, which have great showers, and the beds are pretty comfortable. I've even managed to venture into the gym, which, only 3 machines and no cleaning equipment, isn't ideal, but it's OK too. Now the restaurant, it's definitely nothing higher than an OK. The food is very much feels like freezer food rather than particularly fresh, but it's certainly OK enough, although more vegetarian options would be nice. I haven't bothered with breakfast, for the cost, I know as a veggie it won't be worth it (13.95 for breakfast? No way....). Parking costs £5 a night as well, so be prepared. Novotel, it's definitely OK, but sometimes OK is good enough.
