All the whiskeys are excellent. Trust me: don't get tricked into paying $5 for a "sample" you're led to believe is free.

Traverse City Whiskey Company makes excellent whiskey. And, the prices aren't bad if you're buying whiskey by the bottle. I've gotten whiskey here before, so I knew the cherry whiskey has a natural flavor that works well with the round notes of the barrels where they're aged. We decided to get two bottles of the cherry, plus a bottle of the apple, and a bottle of rye. I hadn't had the apple before, and my friend asked the bartender if we could try a sample. It didn't occur to me until later, but the way he phrased the response was very specific: "you want to order a sample?" We didn't realize until we got the bill that we were charged $5 for each "sample", which was maybe an ounce. He also took care to measure the "sample". I've gotten samples here before, and they were always free. Most people figure that a splash of the product is a small price to pay if you're spending $200 on liquor. I suppose that's up to the discretion of the bartender. The apple whiskey barely registers an apple flavor, but the whiskey is excellent. And, it's impressive that they are able to maintain 80 proof. Typically, flavored liquors are lower alcohol, because they dilute the whiskey with the flavoring. But, back to the service. It wasn't as if the bartender was providing pleasant conversation. I don't expect to be entertained by the bartender, but I also don't want to be made to feel that I'm inconveniencing him because I want him to reach behind him to grab some bottles of whiskey to buy. I love the setting, but this bartender succeeded in killing the vibe. I will buy Traverse City's excellent whiskey, but I'll look for it in other locations...not here.

David made the most amazing smoked Rosemary rye old fashion. This is one of my favorite places!!

Whoa, why can't this place be closer to my house? Seriously cool place to hang out and have a cocktail! We went to Pig and Whiskey and I just had to stop in here - so glad I did! When you come in you feel totally at ease as soon as you sit down. We both tried a Mule - excellent. Next time this is where we go first!

Small, dark bar space that does all of the things right. They make a good variety of whiskey drinks and the service is attentive. I didn't even know there was another place other than the main Traverse City Whiskey Co. Our group covered several of the drinks on the menu and they didn't disappoint. So grab yourself some pizza next door at COMO's and then stop for some whiskey.

Came here with some friends on a rainy Thursday night out in Ferndale. Traverse City Whiskey Co. Outpost wasn't all that busy when we first got in, but did start picking up as we were getting ready to leave around 9:30 pm. This place is so moody and awesome. The walls are painted this gorgeously deep & rich-looking navy that we were all obsessed with and wished we could get away with in our homes, but it was the perfect vibe for a whiskey bar. I don't drink, so I can't tell you how the whiskey was, but my friends definitely enjoyed it, had a couple of cocktails each along with a flight of the whole Traverse City Whiskey line to try out as well. Generous samples of each whiskey in this flight for a great price. Personally, the ginger beer (Goslings brand) I had was DELICIOUS!

    Place is great.

The place is great! Service is friendly comfortable and great. I order the food and the chef personally brought out the food himself. Awesome.

Loved the ambiance. Friendly bartender. We had the pumpkin pie shot, delicious! Definitely will return for more drinks!

A side room whiskey tasting room to Como's in Ferndale. They share restrooms with Como's in addition to leading into them. Very limited street parking, limited public pay parking behind. Inside is old wood bar chic, with a selection of the whiskeys for flights, samples and cocktail. Limited snacks from Como's. The staff was great. The prices were high. Some of our fellow customers were Ferndale douches. A small sales area for Traverse City Whiskey tees, glasses, crap, onesies...

I've visited this location twice, once about 2 years ago and once recently - they have to-go cocktails now which is what this review is based off of. I went into the restaurant next door and adjoining to them (Como's) and while I waited for a table I came in here to grab a cocktail to go, I believe it was called a whiskey sour. The bartender was super friendly and very helpful in choosing a drink as I'm not a whiskey drinker - at all. My friend got the same thing as me and while it's a little expensive for what it is (not much alcohol and around $9+tip) we both figured we were helping this company in what little way we could and also helping the bartender make some money. The drink tasted good but it wasn't something I'd order again. When I visited around 2 years ago I want to say I had something similar, maybe even the same drink while we also waited for a table at Imperial, my group of friends and I came here for a quick drink. The ambiance is nice and if you're a whiskey drinker you will love this place, just isn't for me :(

Hot buttered bourbon with stroop waffle, yum!

Traverse City Whiskey is such a cute new spot in Ferndale! It's located next to Como's but also has an entrance inside of Como's and the two establishments are attached. The architecture is a long skinny rectangular corridor with seating at the bar and at booths and tables across from the bar. There are a few electrical outlets built into the booths. Atmosphere was nice and festive with Christmas decorations. They sold glassware, t-shirts, and other merch in the back. Traverse City Whiskey sells bourbons, rye, whiskey, port, and gin. They have a few flavored whiskeys such as apple and cherry whiskeys. You can purchase bottles ranging in price from $24.99 - $94.99. You can also do a tasting flight with four preselected spirits ranging in price from $18-$24. They also make classic cocktails like a Sazerac, Manhattan, Old Fashioned and specialty cocktails like a Michigan mule, whiskey margarita, G&T and more. Most cocktails are around $9-$11. They also had a couple seasonal cocktails including a hot buttered bourbon cider, and apple sour for $11 a piece. I had the hot buttered bourbon cider and wow!! it was sooo good! It was a hot cozy cocktail made with melted butter and brown sugar and cinnamon with bourbon and apple cider, served with a stroop waffle cookie! When the bartender described it and told me it came with a cookie too, I was like sold! and I was not disappointed. It was the perfect holiday cocktail and I'd definitely like to replicate it at home. My friend had the cherry sour and was less thrilled with it as it was a bit too sour for her liking. They also have a small food menu with charcuterie and cheese boards, burger, cheese curds, mixed sweet potato and classic waffle fries, wings, and pretzel bites. We just ate so only had drinks this time. Service was great! Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed my visit here and would love to stop in again especially for another hot buttered bourbon cider before the holiday season is over.

Had a great experience at an Yelp event. The staff in there are awesome. I tried three different tastings one was whiskey the two rye and porter. The rye was fantastic, nice and smooth. We were privileged to a sampling of their appetizers, which were also very good especially the waffle fries and also the pretzel balls. If you are a whiskey drinker this a place to try.

We were barhopping and decided to stop in here. I am normally a person who goes for cheaper drinks, but this $11 old fashioned was worth every cent. The best one I've had, so I had a second one. I would have loved to have tried another drink too but we were on a tight schedule. Will absolutely be back, whether to this one or the one in Traverse. The staff was fun, friendly, personable. I believe Kali was one of the employees names and she was wonderful. She was training another girl (who was the one to make our drinks- clearly a good asset to the team!).

Obviously great whiskey. Cool vibes inside. Drinks are little pricey but that's expected at trendy bar.

My daughter didn't care for the pasta as it tasted very strongly of garlic, but the texture was amazing and the portion size was filling. The pizza was so good!! It was just the right amount of crispy, chewy, cheesy, and saucy. The chopped salad was the hit of the night and plenty big enough to share. Our server was great and I loved the interior, my only complaint would be that it was so loud.

The way our table was set up was not convenient, we were by the wall with one entrance point, so the people on the booth side, had a long way to slide in and out with 6 people to a side. The restaurant was not busy and the service was slow and inattentive. Sometimes it seems that when the tip is included for a large group, the server doesn't feel the need to exert any effort. For the most part, everyone enjoyed their food. The lobster avocado toast was the standout. I had the farmers veggie skillet and it was just ok: Eggs were barely cooked and the potatoes were over cooked and dry. I did like the cheesy veggies. As a final note, any restaurant that can't split a check in our day and age, loses points for me.
