It's truly bittersweet to be writing this review as our time with Treasure Chest Learning Center comes to an end after three wonderful years. From the very beginning, I felt completely at ease dropping my daughter off each day, knowing she was in good hands, safe, and surrounded by people who genuinely care. One of the biggest highlights of our experience has been Ms. Gina -- she is truly the best! Such a sweet, nurturing presence, but also structured and consistent in a way that helped my daughter feel secure and supported. You can tell she loves what she does. The entire team at Treasure Chest is amazing. The center is always spotless, the curriculum is thoughtful and age-appropriate. My daughter has grown so much emotionally, socially, and academically -- and it's largely thanks to the solid foundation she received here. We're so grateful for the love and care that Treasure Chest has shown to our daughter, and we'll always look back on this time with appreciation and warmth. I would wholeheartedly recommend Treasure Chest Learning Center to any parent looking for a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for their child. My son attended this school from June 2020-August 2023. In our experience over the last 3 years, they've been nothing but understanding, caring, and personal, especially during the pandemic. I have, and will continue, to recommend TCLC to any parent. --They helped us massively with potty training at level 1 (Minnows). We would not have been as successful as we were if they weren't in-step with us. --The teachers (male and female, young and older) are kind, caring, and lovely. Absolute consummate professionals. I, my husband, and my child have had zero negative interactions with them (and other TCLC Parents as well) and we saw each other every weekday for 3 years. --The hours are excellent, from 7-6pm M-F (only closed on major holidays and NV Day) with the kids engaged from start to finish. The facility is clean, safe, colorful, and open with lots of room to move around. --The kids learn about reading, writing, science, math, culture, and even some history. There're weeks where the focus is Nevada and its history. The school follows WCSD curriculum so all the children are prepared with material introduced in Kindergarten, even as far removed from Kinder as Minnows is. --Speaking personally, my son can get hyper-focused on a topic of his interest. TCLC helped him to understand that while at school, we move from one thing to the next, and he has flourished there. And, when he first started, he took a week to adjust to an environment with other kids, and they were so helpful and kind. By the end, in August 2023, he had many friends and the love of his teachers. --For Parents: The cost is competitive. I searched and inquired for a school for over a year, and TCLC falls exactly in line with many other schools of its size in the area cost-wise. They provide snacks, but you pack their lunch. It's in a quiet, safe location, close-to but safely removed from main city thoroughfares. They don't offer kid-specific video or picture updates, like some higher-cost schools might, but they operate through BLOOM and update it weekly (sometimes daily) with pictures of the kids and what they did that week. If you need to know how your child is doing at any time, you can always call, and they will call you if anything happens. On that note, in 3 years, the school called me to pick him up maybe 12 times. That's 3-4 times a year, and every time, he was legitimately ill (ear infection, GI bug, RSV, etc.) They informed me of every potentially harmful injury with a phone call. The teachers were always very forthcoming, well-organized, and easy to reach with any concerns at all. At the time my son attended, they were "allergy-conscious" (if you will), but allowed things like PB&J sandwiches or crackers, asking you inform the staff when your child had peanut butter in their lunch. I believe that the class had no major allergies, and this was their approach. Should a child present with a major allergy, I understand their approach is different. In the end, we absolutely adored TCLC. We miss it sometimes, but they did such a good job prepping our son for Kindergarten that he jumped right in with both feet and didn't look back. I can't say enough good things about Treasure Chest Learning Center! My two children have had the best experiences here. The teachers and staff are so kind and caring. The curriculum is engaging and stimulating, and the activities are fun and educational. The facility is always clean and well-maintained. Since my daughter has started preschool at The Treasure Chest, she has grown so much! She loves going to school to see her teachers and friends. She comes home every day happy and excited to tell me about all of the new things she has learned. It is a close family at TCLC, the staff and parents are all so wonderful. I love how the school isn't your typical daycare setting, every day there is age appropriate curriculum incorporated. It's amazing how much my daughter is learning while still having fun in a safe and secure environment. As a parent, it's so heart warming to see all of the teachers caring as much as they do. Before Co-Vid, there were many parent-involved days and parties for children during the holidays where everyone was able to mingle and become familiar with the families and teachers within the program. The Treasure Chest Learning Center is definitely a family-oriented environment and the staff and owner go above and beyond to provide an awesome experience for the kids. Some people are born wanting to be a teacher to make a difference in the world. That's how I feel about everyone at TCLC, they are there because that's where their heart is. I love and appreciate the constant communication I have with my daughter's teacher and the owner through the Bloomz app. I always know what's going on and feel so good about leaving my daughter there all day. I usually am not one to write reviews but after years of being a part of the Treasure Chest Family I thought they deserve some credit for going above and beyond for keeping the doors open for us during these crazy times and for providing a healthy, happy learning environment for my little! read more

I waited a while before writing this as I wanted some time to figure out whether things were my own fault or an issue with the school.  I will grant that a misunderstanding between myself and the school is entirely possible, but I still feel that this school failed in their mission of improving the lives of the children they care for.   If your son or daughter is a perfectly normal child with no issues, this school will be great for you.  Lots of activities and the teachers are kind, experienced, and attentive.  Your child will do well here.  Our daughter did beautifully and has very fond memories of this school.   If your son or daughter has issues, be prepared to be disappointed.  Our son is going to be 5 in a couple months, but was kicked out of Treasure Chest just after his 4th birthday.  The issue was he was acting out by hitting and kicking the other kids and frequently enough that it was an issue.  He has since been diagnosed as ADHD and we have been taking him through therapy that has given us tools to deal with him and keep him from having bad days.    The problem I have is that at no point were we given any help or advice as to how to deal with him and his issues.  I would come up with an idea to try and improve his behavior and every time I discussed it with his teachers they would say "oh, that sounds good" or "that could help" but at no time did they make suggestions for us.  Yes, we are his parents, but if you are going to brag about how much Early Childhood Development training you and your staff has, you should have some ideas as well.  They never helped us or gave us ideas to work with his behavior, they just kept telling us he was being bad and he needs to improve or get kicked out.   After a couple months of these issues, they started telling us that we were "working against them" in dealing with his behavior, but how could that be if they never told us what they were doing to address his behavior or what we were doing that was running counter to their efforts?  Further, they completely shut down when I asked if it was possible to see any video of our sons behavior to see the things that were setting him off because he was not being violent at all at home or when out with us.  As soon as I asked that, they decided to kick him out (they call it disenrolling, but it is the same thing).   At the time they did that, we were a family in crisis.  Beyond other issues we were dealing with at the time, we now had to find a new school for our son who was well aware that he was being told to leave by his teachers who said they were family.  It broke his heart.  At no point did anyone recommend counseling for him, much less a counselor.  At no point before kicking him out did anyone recommend Childfind through Washoe County.  At no point did anyone there offer any suggestions as to how to work with him at home to improve his behavior.    We came to realize that this area offers almost no support for Daycares and Pre-k's in terms of social services that would have seen and diagnosed our son much sooner, so you need to be your kid's advocate 100%.  The only thing they offered me was, at the same time they were kicking him out, a google search for child social services in Reno which did include Childfind.  Of course, I do not expect them to raise my child for me, but I would expect that they would know what mental health resources are available for the children they care for and could have provided that to us before kicking him out.    So, if you take your child here and start to get comments from teachers that your child is kicking or hitting other kids, start searching for a new school.  You will not get any assistance to try and improve your childs behavior here and the clock has just started to run out for you. read more

We have been to many a daycare in our short time of living in sparks. First it was Goddard, but couldn't stay because it was so expensive. Then it was enchanted castle, but we moved further away in Spanish springs so it was a little out of the way plus my son was always getting sick. Hunter seems to be having a much easier time here. His teachers say that they haven't had any behavioral problems at all! I love the daily reports they write for us at the end of the day. They work on potty training with the toddlers so in the reports if and when they used the toilet. I think the setup is great. I feels a lot more like a playroom versus a daycare. Plenty of houses and centers to encourage creativity. Overall I am very happy with my decision to switch schools and would highly recommend them. read more

I absolutely love this school! My daughter has been going here for 2 years and I am blown away with what she has learned. She is starting kindergarten next week and she is more than prepared for what she will be learning. Every single teacher at Treasure Chest is kind, loving and truly cares for every child. The communication is exceptional, and they have become family that we will truly miss. I sent one of my kids here 2years ago, but after a few months I pulled him out of this place. I saw with my own eyes some of the sitters screaming and yelling to the kids. They weren't being kind nor loving towards them. Though the owner seemed to be a kind and sweet person but she wasn't around all the time. The funny thing was the workers at this place always acted nicely whenever she was there. I never recommend my friends about this place! read more

Tracy and her staff took awesome care of my child for years at this wonderful school. I think it is crap that Sabrina can write such an awful review of this preschool and your kid DIDN'T EVEN ATTEND THE SCHOOL. My son has high functioning autism and they treated him with so much love and care the he STILL talks about Treasure Chest and he is 10 1/2 years old and a fourth grader. Miss Shannon was so loving to Andrew. Tracey and Stephanie were amazing as well. They were always on hand to address any concerns. The place is clean and the people who work here are great. Take my advice and do not take into account Sabrina's review when considering your options with childcare. If I had another child I would not hesitate for one moment to enroll them here again. Treasure chest let myself and my family down in every way imaginable. We turned to them after my son was kicked out of his previous school and went there specifically seeking attention for behavior. They were TERRIBLE about communicating anything at all and only after I was kept in the dark about things going on at school for months did the director reach out to me as if I didn't care about my sons success in a school environment and placed the blame on me when I asked EVERY day how his day was and only could get one or two word replies if anything at all. Ms.Nicole was his teacher and still works there to my knowledge and was terrible to my son and quite frankly to all the kids around her for frankly just being kids! She is the most unremourceful, soulless human being I have ever met. I would not recommend this school. Fast forward nine months later my son is in a new preschool and is absolutely THRIVING! He's gotten all the tools he needs to succeed and is so happy and content going where he goes in a living environment! read more

I called this school to see if I can get a trial day for my daughter to attend to see how she does and if she likes it. Which by the way I have never had any issues with getting a trial day at any schools. I called and asked if they had a trial day that she can attend and the lady who answered the phone said ' NO WE DO NOT!!' I cannot say enough how much we love this school! I have seen a lot of other preschool's and nothing compares to Treasure Chest Learning Center. This is an actual preschool, not just a daycare program. My son is in the dolphin classroom, and he absolutely loves it. Every teacher that works here are such sweet, genuine ladies and almost of all them have worked there for a long time. It seems that the turn-over rate for teachers is very low, which is a big plus. Every time we walk into the building we are greeted with big hello's and warm smiles and the teachers seem genuinely happy to see us. I also think it's wonderful that the owner and directors are teacher's in the classroom as well, very involved! Our son comes home on a regular basis with new things he has learned (he's 3), I am so pleased that he is actually learning and not just being babysat. I also feel that he is in safe hands and I never have to worry if he is getting the help and attention he needs. I have never had any issues with lunches, nap time, etc. This school had exceeded my expectations for a preschool and we couldn't be happier to have our son attend here. If you want to feel at ease leaving your child with a clean school that has smaller class ratios and amazing staff please call TCLC!!! read more

I almost want to keep this place a hidden gem because that's exactly what it is. We have been attending the Treasure Chest since 2014 and have had nothing but the most amazing experience and if you're looking for the highest quality care and education for infant through Kinder, this is hands down the best learning center to send them to. My son is constantly talking about "The Treasure Chest Family". That's what he considers it - A FAMILY! Tracy sets very high expectations with regard to the education they receive and I can attest to the fact that my child is very well rounded from manners to how bright he is. It's not just the teachers that are fantastic, it's also the parents. Parents are so involved at this school and that makes all the difference. We had some minor behavioral problems for a couple of months (growing pains if you will) and somehow Miss Gina turned it into a positive experience for all of us and worked WITH us to encourage the correct behavior. These teachers see every child as their own and are very loving and encouraging to them. I feel 100% content leaving my child in their care. The facility is extremely clean and there is a plethora of educational toys and an outdoor playground. It really feels like a home more than a daycare/school. It is very apparent that the teachers here are following their calling and most have been there for quite some time. I would not hesitate to make this your child's home away from home. You will be extremely happy with your decision. :) read more
