This new teacher that started in June called the emergency contact who is my mom (I've provided my new number multiple times) very nasty & rude and order her to call her mother due to her recent travels from Puerto Rico. Now I do not mind fallowing protocol however be professional. This lady called my mother speaking nasty while my daughter was hollering in the background. I get to the school (they have cameras & I also recorded this lady Brittany rolling her eyes & arguing with me about a confusion. We didn't travel from a "hot state" for them to act this way & my daughter & I was tested anyway. All they had to do was ask. No isolate my child like a prisoner with a "teacher" who does not even know how to deal with children panic attacks. I however couldn't not get passed this lady rolling her eyes at me & telling me my child crying was not that serious. Long story short do not tell a parent their child hollering is not that serious. She was all for the non sense & mess until I told her I would go in her mouth about my child! Honorably ! The owner did mention the only thing that was wrong was the threat but honestly I'm sick of new teachers that they do not introduce to the children & my child learns more with me than in daycare.

This daycare is 10/10 the best ! Believe me . i've tried over atleast 15 in this past month or so, but because of the corona no one was ready to help me and my family out . I wanted to wait before posting a review, that way I could wholeheartedly stand behind my rating…read more We have been sending our daughter to Mi Casita for nearly 6 months now and I can proudly say my wife, my daughter and myself all love Mi Casita. It is such a relief to be able to send your child to a daycare where they are excited to go and learn every day. My wife and I are both teachers (my wife even has an early childhood degree) so I feel like we were pickier than most when it came to selecting a daycare for our daughter just for the sheer fact that we know what is and is not good for young growing minds. Everything that is in place at Mi Casita is backed by research and satisfied all of our picky needs from a daycare center. If you don't know Mi Casita is a Spanish immersion School where teachers and staff only speak in Spanish unless it's a safety concern or something to that effect. Now we do not speak Spanish at home, from speaking with other parents a rough estimate is able 50% of families speak Spanish at home and 50% speak English or a different language in their homes. The school as a whole is a diverse learning community with students and staff from various backgrounds. I love that they specifically look for teachers from various parts of the Spanish speaking world as there are so many different dialects I feel like it is smart to expose these young learners to as many different accents and dialects as possible. The school is a project based learning environment, each month there is a newsletter that is sent out that goes over the unit that will be the topic of focus for the month. Teachers do a tremendous job of pulling together different resources that are age appropriate for students that tie back into the central theme for the month. We always enjoy seeing the updates on different projects the students learn about and create while at school. They have an outdoor play space with grass, garden area, sandbox, and asphalt track around the outside. They work hard to get the kids outside most days except when the weather doesn't permit. I'm of the belief that there is no bad weather only inappropriate clothing... But I'm sure not all parents agree with me when their kids are out in pouring rain haha so I understand why the students are not outside every day. However any day that students are not outside they get plenty of time in the gym for gross motor development. The gym is a large indoor play space with different shape mats, balls and obstacles for students to play on. They bring in outside professionals (who are awesome) to do afternoon enrichment like art, music and gardening. As a bee keeper myself I was so excited to hear that they have had an apiarist come in with a hive to speak with the older students about bees and bee keeping. My kiddo loves music day and I'm always sure to kill some time before picking her up so she doesn't miss any music time! In the times of COVID they have been very cautious (and rightly so) to keep all of the students and staff safe. They communicate through brightwheel (an application on your phone where you can see photos and short videos of your kid that the teachers post.) To keep everyone in the loop on contact tracing and communication on learning throughout the day. Payment is also done through brightwheel. I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get. I wouldn't get discount Lasik and I'm not sending my child to a discount daycare. It isn't cheap but well worth it. The teachers are top notch and deserve all of the praise in the world. The assistant in my daughter's room can do things with toddler hair that I didn't think was possible. Nearly everyday my daughter comes home with a new adorable hairdo but she won't sit still for us to even make an attempt. Haha. We are so happy to be part of the Mi Casita community, 5 stars, hands down, best decision for our young learner!

There are many things I like about this school--the love and patience shown by the teachers, the intentional community-building, the inclusive atmosphere--but what really sets it apart to me is thought and care that goes into the design of the educational experience. I am a teacher, and I think a lot about how an educator's vision affects how students learn. My experience has been that many daycare centers either lack any educational vision at all, or else teach a "canned" curriculum devised by an institution outside the school. Not so at Pooh Corner. The educational director works with the teachers to develop a curriculum that is appropriate for THESE SPECIFIC KIDS and reflects their interests. They do special projects based on whatever the kids are excited about--my son's class did a project on shoes, and then another on "gravity" (things going up and falling down). The kids get exposure to lots of different kinds of learning experiences. They have a weekly science class that involves gardening, composting, and bugs. This is not just "experiential" science either--they collect data on their plants (I don't think they call it that, but that's what it is) and compare the ones growing inside and outside! There are options like Spanish class and dance class as well. This is all in the context of lots of free play with a great outdoor playspace, as well as time for physical skills, reading, letters, and numbers. However even the letters and numbers are incorporated thoughtfully into the things that the kids are interested in. The school works as a team with families on big changes like potty training--it made it so easy for us, I think he went from diapers to underpants in two days. They also encourage kids to do as much as possible by themselves, which helps them to be independent.

And many staff members have been there for many years (some are former students of Pooh Corner). Notable Pros: -Staff members are ALWAYS "on the floor". They are never sitting in a chair and on cell phones (unfortunately, many other daycares accept this). Staff are actively involved and playing with and teaching the children. -Lesson plans are sent through email weekly. Other emails are sent with pictures of events and other things that the community is involved in. -There is a strong community mentality. Pooh Corner is a welcoming community with many volunteer events, art shows, and social events (at the center and at parents' homes). -Everybody knows everyone else. Because of the movement of staff floaters and the community mentality, everyone knows my wife, my daughter and me, when I walk in (from the director, to the pre-school teachers, to all of my daughter's teachers in the toddler room). Full blown day care was out of the question since we're already dropping dime for our Au Pair. A number of inside parks are on the pricier side, and further away. But the Parent Infant Center, also known as PIC, is close to us and very affordable. If you buy a 5 pack, it's $5 per visit. There are toys, lots of other kids, and they even provide snack time. They usually do some group songs and offer other activities. If you are up for helping, which is a super easy gig, you show up at 9am and help set up. Breaking down is even easier and typically happens while you would be there anyway. In exchange, they don't ask you to pay for that visit and give you three more free visits. Not too shabby. The crew is very nice and this is a great option for kids to interact without footing the bill for full blown daycare.
