My wife and I stopped here 5 years ago last time we were at DI, and they had cool Knick knacks and we bought some now-sentimental trinkets. We returned this year and I stopped in to look around again, and the first thing when you walk in is a rack of MAGA Trump hats, and as you look around it becomes evident this is not a business with ethical standards as there is made-in-China cheap Trump junk everywhere. This stuff is not a souvenir, it's not dauphin island oriented, it's just ugly-side political garbage in what should be a themed gift shop. Luckily, there are other gift shops to patronize this trip and future ones, it's just disappointing to see one of our good memory places sunken in the swamp. read more

I travel all over the country for work. This is probably the WORST customer service experience I have ever had!! There were two woman working the counter, and both of them were very rude and disrespectful to my children. After sitting in the car and digesting the situation, we decided we didn't want to patronize a local business that was so anti-customer service. We returned to the counter and explained that we don't want to spend money in an establishment that doesn't value their customers and they explained they wouldn't take any exchanges. After explaining our dissatisfaction and telling them we would never be back, she responded, "Good! We don't want you here. We hope you never come back!". So with that, we will never be back, and I seriously hope you see this review and choose to not spend your money where your money isn't wanted! read more

Treasure Trove works hard to find cool nick knacks and create interesting and fun t-shirts every year for people to purchase. The people that are posting 1 star comments are probably low life loosers. I have seen people leave there 3 and 5 year olds free to run loose around the store and when their kids run into the glass shelves and knock over a $500 piece of hand blown glass, the family quickly grabs their kids and runs out the door in order to avoid having to pay for the item their children broke. Something a coward would do. I have seen people break stuff and try to hide it in towels and t-shirt, in order to avoid paying for the item. I have seen people break stuff right in front of me and then deny they did it. This is a mom and pop shop, where when something gets broken the store pays for it, not the manufacturer, such as Walmart. I have seen the Treasure Trove excuse people for breaking something, because they were honest and didn't mean to break the item as it was an accident and the ladies were forgiving and understanding. Imagine if someone came in your home and broke your stuff and denied it or lied about it or tried to hide it, you would be pissed, but if they admitted it and it was trully an accident you would probably be understanding and try to either work out the cost of the item or maybe even just let it go. That is why the store says "no unattended children", not because they hate children. The store owner has children of her own and a teaching degree with children as she actually really likes kids. No one, including myself likes unrully, disrespectful kids that are out of control and without manners or consideration for others or their property. I have seen boats and travel trailers pull up and often block the entrance to the driveway of the store, so no one can come in or out of the driveway and then proceed to throw out dead fish carcasses, beer cans and baby dipers on the property, which the owners then get the pleasure of picking up. I have seen when Treasure Trove did provide a public restroom many years ago, merchandise was stuffed in womens purses and under peoples shirts and stolen. One time a person stole over 60 shirts, they were caught, however many others were not. It was only the tags that were later found in the bathroom after the merchandise was stolen. I have also seen the staff of Treasure Trove have to clean fecal matter off the walls after some customers take it and rub it in circles on the walls. Treasure Trove works hard to greet people and answer visitors questions about where to go, what see and do and recommends just about everyone on the island, especially if it is a service or product someone is looking for and they don't carry. Nice dogs often greet people and if someone is botherd by the animals they are put behind the counter, so customers don't have to be bothered if they would prefer. The ladies of Treasure Trove put up with all types of people, many of the people that come there are nice and on vacation looking to have a good time and I believe the staff there works hard and does a good job of helping and welcoming people to Dauphin Island on a regular basis. I bet the customers that left a 1 star review are the same type of people such as the lady who came in one day and told one of the 16 year old employees working there, who was a nice and pretty girl "Your ugly, I can't believe this store lets you work where customers can see you. You should be kept in the back where no one has to look at you." Which caused the employee to cry as it hurt her feelings very much. These are the truth filled stories you never hear about some of the public that comes through the door. I applaud the ladies of Treasure Trove for the work they do and for there being such a neat and different souvenir shop on a quaint little island that isn't filled with just rows and rows of the same beach crap as most of the corporate souvenir warehouses along the gulf coast. Awesome mom and pop shop and one of the last truely cool souvenir places left. read more

I have shopped at Treasure Trove for years. YEARS. The family that owns the business has always been helpful suggesting things to do and places to eat on the island. I love to go in and find the the unusual jewelry or art pieces that are always brought in here, and the fam always gets the annual vacation t-shirt (BEST ONES EVER). However, the highlight of the visit will always be the "official greeters!" There have always been dogs (and even a cat) in the store to welcome you to Dauphin Island. Seriously, some of the most adorable animals you can hope to meet. read more

Great place for souvenirs. They are reasonably priced and have a huge selection. Most importantly, their manager Saskia is wonderful!!! My hat broke upon first use and she kindly let me exchange the next day. They stand by their products and are simply lovely people! Definitely get your souvenirs here! read more

One star is way to much!! Me and my family wanted to go shopping here and possibly get food, when a women "the shop owner" decided to inform us that we need to get off her property! She did not say this in any form for respect just ..."get off my property I own all of this and you need to get off". We explained that we were going to shop and we were pulling our travel trailer and parked well off to the side. The restaurant that we parked by she even said was not open for a few minutes... that would be time so we thought to shop in her store. She gave us the okay symbol with her hand and drove away to the front of the store. Then when our family was shopping inside (with 3 children planning to buy many things) she told us to get out! She lost our money I hope she losses your's too! Only rude person on our whole vacation other than that we loved our trip. Don't waste your time here! read more

One star would actually be quite generous for this experience that my mom, my sister myself and my three year old niece had at the Treasure Trove this morning!!! Both of the women who work there were EXTREMELY rude from the minute that we walked in. When my niece had to go to the bathroom they remarked "Did you not see the signs clearly posted? " which apparently said they don't have a public restroom. As my family comes to the island every summer and always spends a great amount on merchandise, it's appalling to encounter such unfriendlness and hostility. When my mom mentioned that my sister had 3 young children the lady at the register said "Oh I would just commit suicide." We regret giving any money to this store, especially as the Sandbox and Marti's were both so completely above and beyond customer service oriented. I have been coming to Dauphin Island for a few years and about half the time we stop by the Treasure Trove. The old ladies that work there are miserable people always have been which is why we do not go there very often. Today we did and when my 2 year old was on the of her side of the rack from us one price of work old lady came by and said something that started her crying quite loudly. I was in the process of taking the younger 2 out because that lady was clearly displeased with us. I should hope this business cones under new ownership that has staff that does not hate children. I will not be back unless they do. read more
