Had a very large pine that was located close to our home and if it fell during a storm or hurricane season would have caused major damage and cost. The Tree Cowboy team dropped the tree and helped remove several large dead tree limbs hanging over into my yard. Mr Wayne Shannon, or "Tree Cowboy" has taken issue with the review by Chris D. Posted Monday which is below. I am her husband and will respond. Mr. Shannon complains that Chris stated he had "subcontracted" tree work done on our home in January 2020, and that he refers but does not subcontract. To the property owner these are the same, but to set the record straight Mr. Shannon says he referred our work, and I believe him. I contacted the "Tree Cowboy" because Yelp reviews said he cares about trees, and from my conversation with him, I believe he does, much more than the typical tree company. His crew performed some work around our home in mid 2019 without problem. At that time, We discussed two large limbs that were hanging over our power line, and he recommended waiting until winter to take those down, and I concurred. When I contacted him again in January 2020 to take them down, he said he wasn't in Atlanta then but would find someone to take care of the work. I do not recall whether we discussed the nature of connection between Tree Cowboy and the firm that eventually did the work (Apex Tree Service) but as I said above, I didn't and don't care. Apex Tree Service did much more than described in Chris's review: they took down two large, high limbs that were hanging over our power line, removed a large shrub and a Dogwood, trimmed brush, and cut up and removed the trunk of a tree that had fallen across our power line and which Georgia Power cleared from the line but did not remove from our yard. I don't regard the price charged as unfair given the quality and difficulty of the work done by Apex. Something else has come up during the course of e-mails about this, however, and that is that Mr. Shannon says he permanently moved from Atlanta sometime in 2019. Had I known that, I would have contacted someone myself to do the second round of tree work, as we were looking for a local company to replace the people who had been doing our work. I have a small jungle around my house and needed to have some tree limbs cut back to avoid damage to my house and possible falling into utility lines. I found Tree Cowboy on Yelp, and sent an email through their website. Wayne received that email fairly quickly and came out on the same day to give me a quote. In addition to the tree limbs, Wayne suggested removing some other bushes and brush along with a tree limb that had likely fallen during a storm. He sent me his quote later that same day, and I scheduled him to come out next week. Regarding the quote, it was reasonable for the work and while having trees cut down is not an inexpensive task to have completed, paying for it is worth it. Due to some unexpected issues, Wayne and his coworker arrived late on my workday, but they knocked out all the work in a couple of hours. If you have trees, I highly recommend contacting Tree Cowboy. Wayne came out to look at a few trees on my property, a home I purchased last year. When I bought the house, I loved all of the trees. After a few crazy storms, they all started to make me nervous though. Wayne came out and gave me some peace of mind. He told me some things to keep an eye out for, and what he'd recommend doing. I am about to start calling my house the money pit. Damn thing is sucking up money way faster than I am actually making it. I can't even get the renovations done that I want to do because shit keeps happening like the AC quitting, and the hot water heater leaking, and the skylights leaking, and the.... OK, I'll quit whining now. Anyhoo, this time it was a couple of huge branches dangling precariously over my house, twisted and ready to fall onto my roof and cause oodles and caboodles of damage...or at least enough that I would have to cover my deductible. These branches stem from a massive pecan tree that spends its days (and nights) in my neighbors yard. I would normally try (key word is TRY) to take this on my self, or at least find some sucker to do it for me, but a) the branches were really high up and there was no way I could get to them by ladder and b) I wanted someone who was insured so in case said branches did fall while in the midst of being cut, the insured party would have to deal with it. I called around and got some quotes. Wayne, AKA Tree Cowboy, did not come in as the lowest quote, however for a bit more money he also pruned some of the other scary looking limbs that also wanted to take my 2 year old roof out. Wayne responded quickly to my call, came out quickly to give me his bid, and scheduled my dangerous limb cutting the next day. Tree looked great post "pruning" and he made it look natural vs sawed off ghetto limb. The other great thing is since he is insured, when one of the branches tapped my brittle skylight and knocked a hole in it, he covered it. By covered, I mean he paid for a new custom made skylight and dealt with a very nice roofer (EAV roofing and repair) so that my new skylight could be installed quickly and professionally. Did I mention he is a certified arborist? Because he is, which I guess means he loves the little guys that he saws on daily. read more

He arrived early, removed several oak limbs that had broken in a storm and were hanging over the house and ac unit, and left firewood for my neighbor. He has a wood chipper and removed all leaves and limbs, and left the work site clean. Will certainly call the Tree Cowboy again. read more

Tree Cowboy did an amazing job. I had two emergencies within a week span -- one large trunk of a 60-70 foot tree had fallen on my house around 6pm and the company was out the next morning! The next week following another large storm I had another large trunk break held by another tree leaning towards my house. Tree Cowboy submitted the permits to the City of Atlanta to request the removal of the DDH trees and his crew was able to get the job done timeline and cleanly. His price was also reasonable. I will definitely use them for any other tree trimming needs or tree removal. read more

I got a call back the same day I made my inquiry, he met me the same day to provide an estimate, he was going to be a few minutes for that meeting and had the decency to call and let me know, the crew showed up on time the day they were supposed to work and were friendly, competent and did a great job. I'm only just now going through home repair files for the last two years for our vintage home on a wooded lot in DeKalb County: in 2019, my husband found Tree Cowboy after our long-standing tree working company retired. His first encounter with Tree Cowboy was in May 2019 - we were quite satisfied with the knowledge expressed and pine branch-trimming work done promptly at a fair price ($500.00) so we were unprepared for our next encounter (while I was otherwise occupied) which my husband fully entrusted to Tree Cowboy but this time, instead of Tree Cowboy's estimate provided in advance, a subcontract team of tree workers suddenly showed up saying they had some time to do our job. They spent about 30-45 minutes cutting a few branches and quickly disappeared with our check, which my husband was told to make payable to "Apex," for an astonishing $1,950.00. Based on the fees many other tree workers have charged us over the years, this was robbery. Live and learn. read more

My house butts up against the side of an abandoned house that has a few large, unattended trees. Needless to say, the inhabitants of the house are actually plenty: squirrels, rats, opossums, etc. I needed to get the neighbor's tree limbs pruned before they did any damage to my roof in the next storm AND I wanted to prevent my furry neighbors for being able to jump onto my roof to find solace. I contacted Wayne via the website. He was very responsive and emailed me back the same day. We set an appointment for a quote. I accepted the quote since he was referred from a friend and neighbor. We booked a service appointment about 3 weeks later when the tree would already be done growing for the season. Today, his team came out and did a great job clearing my roof line. They responded timely, provided a timely estimate, showed up when scheduled and completed the job as stated and on time.
