I realize the other reviews were left years ago, so perhaps things have just changed a lot, but…read moreafter reading them, I really felt I needed to leave my opinion, because I find it shocking that there were more negative reviews than positive ones. I visit La Crosse twice a year for work and I found Dale's 2 years ago. Since that first visit, I make a point to stop in whenever I visit the area, so I've been there 4 times. For the most part, I limit my perusal to the back half of the store that is all clearance items. I am a size 16 or 18 depending on the cut. I can find just as many clothes to try on at Dales as I do at any other store that does not explicitly cater to plus size women. The only issue I've had is that a lot of the clothes fit my body well, except my bust. Again, the same problem I have at many stores. And the store carries two jeans/pants lines that do cater to the larger sizes -- Not Your Daughters Jeans and Cookie Johnson. My budget limits me to only buying a few items each visit, but I love that I don't see ten other women walking down the street everyday wearing the same outfits I've bought there. I'd give quantity and quality of clothes for me a solid 4 stars. I give the five stars for the customer service that FAR exceeds many store experiences I've had. I've never had a bad experience with any of the sales people. As expected, Dale is the best salesperson on staff and he's fantastic for asking specifics about what I'm looking for, my style preferences, and because I discuss budget, he keeps his selections limited to the sale racks. I've been there only once that Dale was not there and while the customer service wasn't at that same high level, it was more than adequate. There's a woman who I've seen working there most or all of the times I've been there. I don't know her name, but she has very short blonde hair. She has always been very helpful in finding things in my size, asking about whether I'm looking for anything specific, checking on me in the dressing room to see if I need anything, and that sort of thing. Whoever I've seen working there has always been nice and accommodating, never mean or making me feel that my size or anything else excludes me from the store. I walk in in non-label jeans and sneakers, so they're certainly not treating me differently because they think I'm a big spender.

Dale helped style my daughter for her senior pictures and he absolutely nailed it! So grateful to…read morehave a store with amazing selection and a stylist on site right here in La Crosse!

You remember those AndroGel commercials talking about how you can your fix low testosterone levels…read more(aka "Low-T") with their underarm applicator? Well, this store will put all of your "Low-T" worries to rest. As I walked the well-stocked, clean floor of Duluth I saw pictures of hard-working, blue-collar men all over the store; images of men that my dad always told me I should grow up to be. "Stop reading 'Better Homes & Gardens'," he would always say to me, oblivious to the fact that the hydrangeas next to him are totally a spring flower and not a fall/winter flower. My 5-inch inseam, tailored pink shorts began to cry out to me, "Don't even think about ditching us for those DuluthFlex Fire Hose Carpenter Pants! How are you gonna call yourself a carpenter? You couldn't even build that birdhouse on that father-son retreat you went on as a kid!" The shorts were right. That retreat taught me that you can't hammer screws and that dad hates the song "Who Let the Dogs Out" by Baja Men. By now the testosterone environment of Duluth had caused my hair to grow so much my chest was starting to look like a Chia pet. I ignored the negative feedback I was receiving from my finely-curated wardrobe and I pickup up a pair of the DuluthFlex Fire Hose Carpenter Pants. I reflected on my introspective journey during my drive home. As I parked and stepped out of my Jetta in my DuluthFlex Fire Hose Carpenter Pants, I used this new manly perspective and immediately got into carpentry. Well, I stepped in a pile of carpenter ants. Which TOTALLY ruined my Louis Vuitton espadrilles. But hey, baby steps. As I fall asleep under my silk sheets tonight, I know that if I need anything else to make me more manly, be it socks, underwear (in fun colors and patterns!!), pants, shorts, knives, dress shirts, dress pants, shoes, soap, mugs, and more, I can head to the La Crosse Duluth Trading Co. and the friendly, welcoming staff will help me with everything I need. 5 stars.

Until about a month ago, The owner confronted me, in front of other customers, and accused me of being someone she kicked out of the store last spring for shoplifting and she said I was acting funny the last time I went in because I didn't make eye contact with her and that is a sure sign of someone shoplifting, so she asked me to put my purse in front of the counter if I wanted to continue to shop. (I was not the person that she kicked out nor did I shoplift, nor was I acting any different than I always have other than 1 time I went in there to try to calm my anxiety and use retail therapy to calm my nerves, like I have done many times without being accused of "acting funny"). I told her that I have never been kicked out nor would I ever steal from her and that her comment actually really hurt because I used to come in there regularly and have slowed going because money is tight right now and I now live in Onalaska, she apologized after she realized I wasn't the person, but still made me leave my $300 Coach purse by the counter (which at first I had no problem with) until she continued to follow me around the store like I was the girl that stole from her. I was absolutely mortified and humiliated... I went back a week later and she treated me exactly the same way.. Except for this time she, ask me if i was going to try anything on which I thought was odd because she knows I ALWAYS try on my clothes if the dressing rooms are available, which they always have been even during COVID-19, so she then asked me what I had (which she has never done) counted and looked at all my things before I went into the dressing room and then continued to ask me about the things I had in the dressing room with me. I didn't end up buying anything because I felt so humiliated and disrespected again. I will never go back here based on those last 2 experiences regardless of that being one of my favorite places to go.. I won't give my hard earned money to someone that treats there customers that way, end of story. One more thing I'll add, Everyone else in the store had their purses, on both occasions and didn't have to leave their purse at the counter, and they were able to walk around the store freely without having a shadow and they were able to go into the dressing room without being harrassed as they tried on clothes.. There are many more places that I feel better deserve my hard earned money, and my money goes to charity not a women that treats me like a criminal. So my review in short, don't go here if you want to be treated like a criminal and have someone apologize and then continue to treat you like such. I have morals and values and clearly the owner doesn't know what an apology means.
