This year I decided to start a garden for the first time and the fantastic people at Tree Valley Garden Center really helped me out! I gave them a vague idea of what I wanted to do (plant hydrangea and vegetables) and I gave them the dimensions of my garden. They suggested the type and amount of soil I needed, and showed me the selection of hydrangea with explanations of how they're different. I really appreciate how patient they were with me! I too am not please with the service..staff know nothing about plants "so why do they work there " I am not sure they even like plants! I have read the other reviews and have to agree with the poor services last year when I bough decorative grasses the lady at the cash said I a year warranty... so this year when some of them didn't make it threw the winter, I sent pictures and copies of the receipt and Angelo response saying that just bring a copy of his response email as proof of authorization to replace the grasses ... when I got to the cash I was told that i had to pay the difference ( last year the grasses were 26$ this year they are 39$ ) then to my surprise they would only give me a credit on 7 pots and not 10 pots of grasses ... I love there products but the the staff or policy of there company... I think they make enough money to not care ... read more

I purchase flowers from hardware stores, grocery stores, Kim's Nature, Walmart, etc.. Now I need trees and shrubs. An online research took me to Tree Valley Garden Centre in Stouffville. Tree Valley is really big. Based on an aerial picture on its website, it is more than 10 acres in size. When I stood in the greenhouse, the sea of plants and flowers goes on and on. When I stood outdoors in front of the tree inventory, the sea of trees go on and on till the end of line of sight. There are many trees such as spruces, cedars, junipers, euonymus, maples, etc to satisfy just about anyone's gardening needs. There are a mind blowing varieties of shrubs (see the pics I uploaded). There are tropical plants that most definitely have to stay indoor for the winter. There are racks of climbing vines and flowers that are living wall ready. There are planters of plants so big and beautiful that they are fit for mansions and hotel lobbies. What is unique is that there are some trees and flowers that are already trimmed into artistic shades. For examples, there are roses that are trimmed and grown into a tree shape (for your info, roses are naturally in a shrub form). There are rocket cedars that are trimmed into a spiral. There are many flowers in pots and baskets in the greenhouse. I didn't see many flowers outdoors. Hence, I suppose many of the flowers are for partial shades, not full sun. There are some flower varieties here that I didn't see at Kim's Nature, and vise verse. I didn't see as many seedling trays here. I can see myself buying flower seedling trays at Kim's and potted flowers here. The people at Tree Valley put many sold products along one side. I noticed that many purchasers were gardening and landscaping companies. I suppose the quality of the products must be well recognized. I can see myself buying shrubs here for my garden as the selections fit my needs. As for trees, I think the pricing is on the higher end. read more

I keep going in to this garden centre, hoping it will be a different experience because it is a very nice place and I drive right by it. Unfortunately every time I wonder - why do I come in here? I always leave feeling ticked off at the terrible customer service. On one visit I asked for recommendations on a vine that can grow in the shade. The woman I asked said, "I have no idea" and looked at me like I had asked her to perform a root canal and not a simple question about plants. I didn't think asking a question about a plant was so out of the ordinary to ask at a gardening center. I was then referred to a blond woman, who I assume was the manager and she was also clearly not interested in helping me. Other times I have been at the cash with other customers while the staff stands around talking, completely ignoring us. So after my last visit, I think that's enough and now will be driving out of my way to another gardening centre. read more

This nursery is conveniently located in Stouffville. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly; offer tons of advice on how to plant or look after the trees. Price may be as par or a little more than other places. We bought a few fruit trees, cedars and bushes here. Their trees have one year warranty, keep your reciepts. At the end of season, they offer discount on some selected trees but it would be final sales. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. Purchased three trees last fall at an exorbitant rate as compared to big box stores, expecting the quality to be better. The trees within 7-8 months perished. Contacted the owner (Angelo) who refused to entertain the thought that his trees would not withstand one season and whats worse he went on to insult me by telling me I did not know the difference between a perennial and an evergreen. It's not even the fact that the company would not stand behind their product that irked me it was the manner in which he spoke to a first time customer who had just finished spending close to $200 with his company within several months. To make matters worse he then went on to provide 'proof' that his company does honour warranties, when I mentioned I would write a review to correspond with my experience. He subsequently sent over the correspondence he had between himself and two other customers which included their personal information (including name, e-mail and in one person's instance phone #). Be careful when dealing with such a company, not worth the energy or effort especially when cheaper and/or better quality products can be purchased elsewhere. If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of the products or screen shots of the e-mails between the owner and I please don't hesitate to ask. I wish I had read the reviews prior to dealing with this company. read more

RUDE OWNER. My brother and sister-in-law tragically lost their little girl a few months ago. They purchased items from this nursery in the fall for her grave. They just went back to enquire about winter arrangements and asked if they could customize (eg, adding blue ribbon or sticks as that was their child's favourite colour). The girls who work there were helpful and polite but they had to confirm with the owner, who was beyond rude. He barked at my sister-in-law and made her cry. He had no remorse upon seeing her pain and rather than ask what was wrong or if she was ok, he further demeaned her by taunting her and asking what her problem was. My brother had to control himself not to stoop down to the pathetic level of this owner. They left and found a much better nursery on Bathurst and King. If you want to be disrespected and treated like crap, go to Tree Valley. read more

Ordered soil from Tree Valley. Was told it would be delivered in the morning, delivery didn't show up until 5:00p.m. I called a few times and I was told repeatedly that delivery is on its way. I was never contacted to advise of any delays. Will never order from this place again, such horrible service. read more

I've been a resident of Stouffville for 5 years and have been going to Tree Valley ever since. I've always experienced amazing service, but today I was belittled by the staff and the owner of this facility. I returned two vases that cost $485, but only received a credit of $430. I then went back to use the credit on a $500 vase and when inquiring about why we didn't receive the full credit of $485, the owner started screaming at me in front of staff and other customers. I think, if a client has a difficult time understanding something that might be simple for the retailer to understand, it doesn't take raising your voice and making an individual feel subpar to help them understand. Then when I was getting help to get my cement vase, which obviously I can't carry on my own, the attendant tried to give me a vase that I didn't pay for because it was easier for her to get to. She then started raising her voice at me in front of my 5 year old. I am left with a awful taste in my mouth. Tree Valley doesn't care about their customers, but if you are a big landscaping company I'm sure they'll kiss your behind to keep your business. Worse customer service. read more
