My wife wanted to visit this garden centre located at Major Mackenzie Dr E and Hwy 48/Markham Road so we took a long drive up here from T.O. The parking lot had enough space for a dozen vehicles inside the chain fence and others were relegated to parking on the shoulder of Hwy 48. This place gave me the impression that the Kim's were waiting around for a developer to gobble up their corner property for redevelopment; maybe it happened already. I found the building was an era of the past with mismatch rooms, uneven flooring, makeshift extensions. The word relic kept popping into my mind. If you can get beyond that, there are plenty of plants choices, Koi fish, gardening & pond supplies,, pots, lawn ornaments, etc. The prices were on the high side...my wife knows as our own garden is a testament. Purchases must be over $10 to use credit or debit cards. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We made purchases but this was a one and done. read more

I've been coming to this nursery every year to buy flowers and vegetables. The plants are healthy. Reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. But this year (covid-19) they don't have much flower and no vegetables. I had to go somewhere else to buy vegetables. They have also birds and fish for sale. One of my favourite plant stores of all time! Family owned and operated, very friendly, affordable and welcoming. I visit every time I go home to visit my family. I usually find something I want, be it a rare plant, planters, or plant supplies. This place has it all! I'll start with their plant selection. They have a variety of harder to find/rare plants at affordable prices. For example, philodendrons, alocasia and anthurium. They also carry lots of orchids, succulents, carnivorous plants. It's really heaven for the plant enthusiast. They also have a wide variety of plant supplies. One of the only places with such a big selection of media such as pumice stone, akadama, sphagnum moss, etc. In addition, they've got lots of beautiful pots and they even drilled drainage holes into them for better use with plants! Kim's Nature is one of the best nursery in the area. A one stop for all your gardening needs. Aside from seasonal bedding plants, flower basket, evergreen and landscapes need, I am really impress with their bonsai collections. There are also birds and fish for sale, which did not even know they carries. Asking for help though can be a little challenging as this place is a family owed business and really understaff. Parking is also a big issue as there are only around 10 parking spots and during busy gardening season, all these cars are forced to park on the shoulder of Hwy 48. read more

This is definitely a place for collectors who are willing to pay the price. Beautiful flowers and plants and a wide variety of succulents but what impressed me most was their reasonably priced air plants: small for $3.99 and large for $5.99. Take your time to pick out the largest of the "small" sized air plants because they're almost as big as some of the "large" ones. It's just kind of tight to manoeuvre around aisles if you desire to push/pull a trolley when purchasing a lot. Plus parking is an issue. Their parking lot is VERY tiny. I wish I lived across the street from Kim's Nature! This is my happy place. Kim's Nature is a family-run nursery, and it's the details in their work that make them so good at what they do. Over half of their plants are already potted in the most gorgeous / vibrant pots. I love that their pots add character to your plant, and it also takes the guess-work out of buying soil / re-potting. There is a koi pond at the front of the store, lots of birds happily chirping away at the back, tropical fish by the side, a huge but affordable succulent arrangement selection, and tons of plants outside. They also have all the materials you need for ponds, planting, and bird feed. I am amazed at how much they fit inside the store but it makes it that much more fun to explore around. I think what really impressed me most was when the owners gave me advice depending on the items I had purchased. It was great knowing that they genuinely cared about their products and wanted to share their passion with all. Come to Kim's and stay for a while, I'll bet you won't be going home empty handed! read more

A great place for plant lovers. My sister and I drove up to Kim's on a rainy Sunday to see what all the fuss was about. It's a great place for soil amendments, fertilizers, plant pots and most importantly, rare plants. Admittedly, the prices were a bit shocking but given the rarity of what they carry, I think it's par for the course. Will I go back there often? Probably not because it's 45 minutes from my house. But will I make special trips up there to find random and wonderful plants? Yes indeed. read more

I came to Kim's Nature because I saw the beautiful blossoms when I stopped for a traffic light at the intersection of Markham Road and Major MacKenzie Drive. I had been shopping for seedling trays and hanging baskets, so I drove right into Kim's parking lot. Let me talk about the area outside of the store building first. The hanging baskets are mostly hung outside of the store. They are the first things that catch people's attention when people park their cars. Because the baskets are BEAUTIFUL. The flowers are big and nicely arranged. They are tagged as "for sun" and "for shade", so customers won't buy the wrong types. The baskets and pots of shade flowers are displayed in a roofed structure next to the parking lot. The price of the baskets range from $20 to $80. I am even more impressed by an area behind the store that displays the seedling trays. The varieties of annual and perennial flowers are mind-blowing: peonies, petunias, impatiens, even pond lilies, and many types that I have only seen in photos. Kim's carries more than the common types that many of the big chains carry. Furthermore, the seedling trays are helpfully segregated into "for sun" and "for shade" as well. Kim's also carries trees, shrubs, cacti, bonsai, etc. Inside the store building reveals another surprise. There are flowers, of course, such as orchids (in pots and in seedling trays), and other gardening supplies. But Kim's Nature is more than a nursery, it is also an aquarium and a bird store. Approximately 20% of the store displays fish tanks. There are tropical fishes, gold fishes, and frogs. At the back of the store is a wall of bird cages. I don't know birds, so all I can tell you is there are many different types of birds. Compared to the big chains, the flowers baskets at Kim's are more expensive ($20 and up). Yet they are well cared for so the blooms are visibly bigger and more dense. I walked out from this impromptu visit with 2 hanging baskets and 6 seedling trays. I will most definitely return next year for my gardening needs. read more

The plants here looked like top notch quality - vibrant, beautiful and well-cared for. My parents were pretty impressed! Definitely different from what I see at the big box stores though the prices will be higher. I think it would be worth it though, the plant to soil ratio is super high. :P I loved all the random things in the store as well... Whether you need floating water lettuce or lilies, a cool container for your herbs, bamboo (tons!!!) you may find it here. Oh, and fish... Lots of fish. Wow, what a wonderful selection of houseplants and accessories! I spent more than an hour browsing the offerings, finding varieties not seen in any other store. Each variety is labeled with an informational sign for plant newbies like me that says how to care for it, best light conditions, etc. They have absolutely everything here: the trendy Instagramable plants, the exotic, bonsai, orchids, hoyas, kumquat trees, lucky bamboo, succulents, air plants, and all the basic plants you'd expect. The pot selection is vast, an entire room is devoted to them. The owners are friendly and happily answer questions. Honestly the best plant store in the GTA. read more

I love to support mom & pop shops, and this one is no exception! This family-run greenhouse has all sorts of beautiful planter arrangements. We have bought multiple planters here over the years and have been very happy with the quality of the plants. Right now the flower selection is a tad limited because they lost some stock due to colder-than-normal winter temps, but I'm sure they will catch up soon. They have good grass seed, live fish, and pond supplies too. This place gets busy and has limited parking so be prepared to park on Hwy 48. read more

Kim's Nature is a nursery that is situated basically on the corner of civilization vs countryside of Markham. I have been in a succulent phase and the big boxed stores weren't cutting it and I was looking for variety. Luckily, Kim's was a little gem that I hope I can visit again. I came at the end of March and it was still cold so I was worried they didn't have much. I also came around 5:45 (they close at 6) but Kim (I believe it was her!) and another male employee (who I think was related) were very nice about it. They seem to really care about their customers and were genuine and helpful but were not pushy at all. I stayed a few minutes past the 6 closed time but they never gave any dirty looks and gave helpful tips for my succulents. They were also very knowledgable. When you first walk in, it's not the nicest looking place, but it certainly has some charm and it's organized. Not only are there plants, but there are also birds on one side and fish on the other. I was disappointed initially when I couldn't find succulents in the main area of the place, but a door that leads off on the side is where the magic happens. There's a whole greenhouse on the side and sooooo many succulents and other plants ranging from big and small. The prices are on the higher side (6.99+) and inflates according to size, but there was some succulents I've never seen before in other stores so I was ok with the price. I mentioned a lot about succulents, but they also had a lot of other plants that I didn't really concentrate on. I loved that they had little descriptions and suggestions about where to put it and what the plant will do best with. There was a closed off section with beautiful fresh flowers probably for spring/summer. Hopefully I am able to come back in the warmer seasons to see the full potential of Kim's. It's definitely worth a trip if you're looking for some new plants! read more

I visited Kim's Nature twice in December. The first time it was to look for some succulents to replace the one I killed :( Since it's wintertime there aren't any plants outside and everything was inside. Aside from plants, you can also buy birds, fish, and gardening supplies. Everything here is reasonably priced and I like how they post care instructions for the plants as well. There is an area in the back, like a greenhouse that houses all the succulents and bonsai trees. There was a wide variety of succulents available from the common ones to the more rare ones and I wanted to buy pretty much all of them but had to restrain myself. The collection of bonsai trees were impressive. There was a wall dedicated to them and they all looked well cared for. Aside from succulents and bonsai trees, there were also citrus and kumquat trees for sale. When I was paying for my plants, I was also given tips and instructions on how to properly water the plants I bought which was much appreciated. Kim's Nature is a nice nursery especially for rare and hard to find plants. I definitely cant wait to come back again! read more

I am only a recent indoor gardener but this place has the best customer service I've ever received. I've been to all the big plant nurseries in the Toronto area and Kim's nature is by far the best. I am currently obsessed with plants and have scrolled through their entire instagram bookmarking the plants I want most! I was helped by Win and I stayed at the nursery for 4 hours because I was so indecisive! At the time, I only wanted a plumeria but I have a fascination with plants with a history. Win explained to me the history behind wind orchids as well as the proper care technique. He never made me feel rushed and ensured each plants I was getting was in excellent condition and that as an amateur gardener that I would be able to care for them. He also showcased some other plants that I might be interested in and told me the wait times for plants that I had high hopes on! Additionally, my sweet tea olive had a problem with leaf drop (which I discovered later to be a a pest problem) and he told me how to get rid of it. He has made everything as smooth as possible and is always willing to help out which I am forever grateful. His follow through and impeccable customer service has made me a loyal customer and I will continue to shop at Kim's Nature for all my future plant needs! read more

Every spring I come here for my plants. They always have a good variety of flowers, vegetables and herbs. The price is also reasonable. And if you have any questions, the staff is very helpful. They even give you watering tips for the different plants. Parking is limited on site but you can park by the side of the road. read more
