    Beef Dip with Coleslaw

Thought we would try this place following Yelp reviews. Location was definitely convenient off hwy. Indoor and outdoor seating. Inside was just comfortable temperature on a very hot day. Service was friendly. Had the cream of mushroom soup. It was a little on the bland side for me needing lot's of salt, but would be great for those with high blood pressure. The beef pastry was not available so we went for the Beef Dip. The beef was thinly sliced just right and lean on a nice toasted French bun. The aujus was tasty. It quickly finished before the bun was done! Overall good experience.

    Club sandwich on marble rye

Re rated after our dinner this evening. Not up to last meal's standard, the halibut was overdone. A coarse simple / 'no bargain' experience for 30 bucks per person including tax +++ = 3 stars , no more, as Service was still fine and friendly. Mom n pop shop Bakery and Restaurant on the Alberni Highway in Parksville BC, on Vancouver Island. Site of our lunch date for four old friends today was TREES. Made on premises is the brief here. Everything comes out of Sue's kitchen, and she says her TEAM is awesome. Breads baked goods pies, the lot. Kitchen pumps out breakfasts lunch and dinner, no mean feat. All our selections were well executed. Cornish pastry with soup of the day, club sandwich coleslaw fries, cod n chips, shared round all pronounced solid and tasty. Service was welcoming friendly and appreciated. Water for the table, refills, prompt order taking and delivery. Bussed. CHEYENNE and team 'on the ball'. Value at 15 bucks a head including tax tip okay. Venue clean tidy easy peasy parking. Would return to try more items. Recommended. Solid 4 star experience.

Definitely a great place for breakfast! I had the eggs Benedict with salmon lox, amazing! My husband had ham and eggs. Plenty of food, great service, and a nice atmosphere.

The Crabby Benny was amazing! Eggs perfectly poached. I wasn't a fan of their hashbrowns but the meal was huge so I didn't even need the potatoes. Good coffee, excellent service, and a pit stop that I would recommend to anyone passing by here on their Vancouver Island travels. Next time I hope to stop to try some lunch!

Best breakfast in the area and the marble rye is amazing. Look forward to their February reopening.

By the time we got there, most of the bakery items were gone. But, the blueberry lemon muffin and apple galette were delicious!

    Happy Jack’s Restaurant - $11 wing wednesday

Goat Jack's was a former White Spot which was renovated for new ownership. Unfortunately shortly before they were to reopen a truck was left in neutral at the top of the parking lot and rolled down the slope crashing into the newly renovated restaurant. Thankfully repairs were done and Jacks opened. It's a nice space, maybe a little dark, but with a bright bar area. We were quickly seated in the back left in a very large booth for the four of us. The menu features wings, but has other offerings as well. The lovely K ordered the wings with hot sauce and the nachos, neither of which she found to be very good. I had the BBQ burger, and fries, both of which were pretty good. Taste is a personal matter, but service isn't, and our server was excellent. Her only faux pas was filled our friend's Mike's Hard lemonade glass with water when it was almost empty while she had a full water glass beside. She apologized program's fetched Val another Mike's on the house. The four was more about the service than the food, but again taste is a personal thing, but you can't beat great service. They just have to get the food up a half a notch in our opinion.

Would have been longer but the people in front of us gave up and left. Could see many empty tables, but was told they were reserved. They sat empty well after we were seated; what a waste. The hostess was like a deer in the headlights, when she seated us we learned she was also our waitress! We came for cod (Have since learned it is rockfish) & chips special, but the price was only reduced from $24 to $21, not a great deal. The food took a long time to come. We noticed people who had come after us finishing before we got ours. The fish looked beautiful, and the batter nice and crispy, but the fish was very dry and very fishy tasting. The fries underneath were greasy and soggy. The tarter sauce was runny, and the coleslaw lacked dressing. We would have sent it back but never saw the waitress again until she brought the bill, and took our plates. We made a point of telling her to which she only said "I'll pass that on to the chef". We won't be back, and do not recommend. There are many many better choices in town.

You order from the kitchen at the counter and they bring to food out to you. The case looked to be full of tasty treats and reasonably priced. K had the skillet which came with toast that was so good. The skillet itself contained a good amount of food that was very nicely cooked. My bacon and eggs came with a choice of hash browns or toast. I chose the has browns and added a side of sourdough. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon nice and crispy as specified, along with a slice of tomato and some fresh basil which was a nice touch. My London Fog left a little to be desired, but that was but a small blemish in an otherwise excellent breakfast/brunch! If you are in Parksville I'd heartily recommend the Brazen Poppy Bakery Cafe. We'll be stopping on our way to Victoria tomorrow for sure.
