My boyfriend and I were bike shopping all day yesterday and went all over Lincoln looking for bikes. We were looking for something used for him because I already have a bike and hate going alone. We have been to The Bike Rack before and knew that it had a selection of new bikes which was not exactly what we were looking for. It was the last stop at the end of our long day and we were in the neighborhood and thought we would just check it out. Our salesman, Brian, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He could tell right away that we weren't really in the market for a high-end bike, but continued to help us despite the fact that we were probably going to just look around and head home. He answered our questions and we cracked jokes back and forth. He then suggested that my boyfriend take out one of the bikes, just to get a feel for it. He found the right size and tried out a couple before finding one that was still way nicer than what we going to buy, but one of the more modestly priced bikes in the store. My boyfriend talked about how awesome it was when he took it out and seemed to be extremely happy with the way it rode. I then had to see for myself. If it was that awesome, I wanted to try it out. Brian helped me find the right size bike and put me on a Trek 7.3. I took it out down the sidewalk and was really really impressed. The bike really spoke for itself. It was a million times better than my rusty old high school bike I had at home. We went out down the side walk together and came back to the store with giant smiles on our faces. We left yesterday with two Trek 7.2 bikes. It was completely unexpected but so worth the money. We would have probably not purchased those two bikes without the wonderful service from Brian. He really did a great job without pressuring us at all. If anything, he made us excited to get out there. We have already been out riding twice and love our bikes. I travel for work a lot, and prefer to exercise outside. This shop is right on the bike trail and all the staff were so helpful about making sure I enjoyed my ride. The daily rate is forty, but since I only rode for a couple of hours, the owner gave me a discount. Maybe so I'll come back, either way I was impressed by everyone that helped me. Don't take your bike here for repair. They will rip you off. Seemed like you could almost see dollar signs in their eyes when you walk in. They say you have lifetime adjustments but when I took my bike in for it's first adjustment, they said there were a whole bunch of things wrong with it and said I shouldn't ride it because it's not safe. They said they'd repair it but at about 250 to 300 dollars - half the cost of a new bike. I'd only had this bike I bought from them for 2 years. Told them no thanks and took it down to the UNL bike shop. The made a few repairs on the rear wheel for half the price. Also, you just get the vibe when you are in there that the employees don't even like each other that well. Almost feels like a car dealership. Most of these other reviews seem like they are from people who are loosely connected with the store. read more

After the sale they no longer care about you. Been in twice to fix a problem, still not right. Currently at another bike shop getting fixed. They have lots of excuses, it's always somebody else's fault. Apparently only employees of this bike shop know how to ride a bicycle and they let you know it. So unless you like being talked down to, I'd stay away. I'd go to cycleworks or joyride before I ever go in this place again. read more
