We parked in an area with a pay-to-park meter. Paid the meter. After coming back to our car within the allotted amount of time we had to park, the truck was gone. Someone working at a business nearby approached and asked if we were the Ford F-150, to which we responded yes, and he said he saw the truck towed himself. All in all, cost $240 to get the truck back. We're from Texas so of course we have a Texas license plate, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but if someone wants to give us a heads up as to what to do differently next time, that'd be super helpful. Complaint: LOT 1701 Tremont Towing. You can PAY the parking meter, but I was a few minutes LATE getting to my car and TREMONT TOWED it. They are sitting there waiting. I was towed from a legal parking spot with a meter assigned to the spot. I came back to find another car parked in my spot. It was a legal parking spot. It cost me $241 for the 1 mile tow and they only take cash. They even padded the bill with a $30 charge to open my car when my locks do not work and the car is always unlocked. They are the most unethical company I have ever encountered. The police will not help you as they are in on the racket. Do some reading and you will find hundreds and hundreds of people with the same complaint. They donate to the elected officials so they always get their contract renewed. I parked my car at Bank of America to use the 24/7 ATM machine. I had to use the bathroom really bad so i went to the CVS across the street at 10 PM, later i withdraw my money from the ATM. After i came back i saw them towing my car right in front of me. I almost had a heart attack and seizure. I tapped on the tow truck window because his window was pulled all the way up. He stepped out of the car and wanted to fight me. YES, a young 25 year old female .. I got on my knees and begg him to not tow my car. I told him i went to withdraw my money from the bank then he said, "I saw you at CVS." He's a vulture stalking me at every minute to get a chance to steal my car. I told him, "I went to withdraw money at the atm" he asked for my bank note, I told him i didn't print the receipt.. He then made me count how much money i had in my hand.. After verifying the amount of money, he put down my car without any fines :) I'm just that good at negotiating. HOWEVER, I was still traumatized by this ordeal. I went to the bank manager in the morning. He said, he had his car towed too. Now for some of you who thought i was illegally park at my own bank, what do you have to say when the bank manager got his car towed too? NOT only did they towed it, but lost it too.. He called them right up after i told him about the incident and he yelled over the phone saying, "You're all suspended from the premises!!!!!" Some useful tips for people: - A friend of mine said, its illegal for them to tow your car if you're in it. So, when you see them tow your car in front of you, get inside the vehicle fast. And hassle them til they put down your vehicle. - You can negotiate for them to put down your car. small fee which runs up to $40-60 depends on which tow truck guy you get. However, if the he ask you for more then that,, he's lining his own pockets.. - Once your car has been in their possession make sure you get it ASAP because each day it's sitting in the lot is another $36 dollars to rent the space. So $36 for each day and if you DO Not pay it after a couple of days probably 4+ days it goes to another lot.. They will get you running to different places. If you don't pay up for more then a month, they'll auction it off. read more

Very dynamic company; their approach seems to be based on both personal desire of the driver and secondhand suspicion/speculation. Parked on street all day; even a few questionable spots. Nervous, but car was never towed (moved car 3 times due to time restrictions). Fine. Later in the evening I park in a private Walgreens lot on Alton and 10th with two other cars in it. Go in to shop (15 min max) come back to find car being towed. Wasn't picked up yet so I showed receipt and time. He said he "received word" (??) I had left the property but would let me go. He reversed the truck and began hooking up ONE OF THE OTHER CARS in the lot. Here's the biggest twist -- the towing company assigned to this lot was NOT Tremont. So this tow truck was doing bonafide stealing. I called the police and noted the trucks plates. Driver knew something was up when I didn't simply drive off so he ditched the whole 'project'. Finally, not a huge thing but shows how much they care about towing-- I saw a tow truck with a car attached on Alton. It dropped a car in the center of busy intersection. Totally exposed. About a minute later another truck swooped in and picked the car up. Driver never got out to make sure it was secured or anything. Wheels were turned to the side so the car rode catty-corner down the street at 40MPH. Amazing. read more

My husband travels all over the USA for work and had an accident in Miami in his 2019 Chevy Silverado work truck. Tremont Towing was called to take truck to a repair shop. From the time this towing company picked up the truck and took it immediately (so we thought) to the repair shop Treemont Towing employees rummaged through my husbands work truck and stole the following items: $110.00 in cash garbage can ear buds fluorescent coat Hard Hat case of energy drinks phone charger phone charging station Brand new bottles of soap, shampoo and laundry detergent double pk of clorox wipes brand new leather gloves AND ALL HIS CANNED FOOD By the time the towing company got the truck to the repair shop they had LOST the KEY and the CLICKER to the truck so the repair shop could not start any work and it is going on over 2 weeks now and they still have not received the key nor the clicker to the truck. The towing company rummaged through the glove box, pulled everything stored under the back seat, took down the cloths hanging bar in the back seat, organizer hanging on the back of the seat and the steering wheel cover. Never in all of my years have I seen or experienced such horrible service in having a towing company steal from accident victims. It was bad enough that I get a call that my husband was in an accident but then for him to call to tell me about everything stolen.... UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Tremont Towing along with Beach Towing both do what they have to do to make money which is tow people who can't be bothered to pay enough attention to where they are parking. Miami Beach isn't a sleepy little town anymore and hasn't been for at least 20 years. So get with it folks. Try pulling any of these parking hi-jinks in Manhattan or Boston and you'll get towed just as fast except it will cost you twice as much as here. No. where Tremont Towing gets one star is because no matter what they do for a living, they are part of the community and should behave that way when someone calls asking for a legit car transport service. I called to flatbed my car to a mechanic and aside from being annoyed that i was apparently bothering him with a non-hook and crook tow, he quoted a ridiculously high rate (three times the going rate for the flatbed and distance). These people are common criminals with a license to tow. They randomly drive through Miami Beach lot after lot, inaccurately towing cars without verifying with store owners if these car belong to customers. I was a victim last night while I studied and snacked at my local McDonalds. I came out to see my car was missing....confused, shocked! I called Beach a.k.a Tremont Towing in Miami Beach and explained that I was in the store when they inaccurately towed my car. The rude guy on the phone said " I don't care, you need to bring your license and $280". So I put the Manager, Alejandro, on the phone who continued to explain that I was there and that I had receipt to prove it. Still nothing, the guy demanded money and hung up. So at this point, I figured let me go over there, I'm sure when they see my receipt and talk to the manager again, and review the restaurant camera they will return my car. Not the case, they said I don't care about your receipt you need to pay. I called the police and almost immediately two patrol arrived. I was told there nothing they could do because they company held a license to tow. What they did recommend is that I take my proof and put a civil lawsuit on them. They explained that this happened on a daily basis and they were helpless to control these thugs. Absolute shocker, I never imagined that the law of a country that I love would allow unlawful behavior and bullying of their people. What I found in my research was that the city receives a significant amount of money from each and every tow...disgusting. Tremont Towing erroneously towed our car. We paid for parking, placed the paid receipt on the dashboard (Ceviche 105 area) and retuned to a near empty parking lot. We called Tremont Towing, the agent confirmed we still had time left (per the parking receipt which was on the dashboard) and said we could come pick up the car. No apology, no excuse, unbelievable! Let it be known: this company is a scam. My car was towed after parking at the Bank of America lot on 930 Washington Avenue on a Sunday evening. They have 2 colleagues who "assist you" in paying the meter. I arrived less than 5 mins after my meter was up to find not only my car gone, but all other cars were gone as well. The fee to get it back is $281 (and no explanation of the break down of fee) and cash only. It was very clear that they work in tangent with the guys at the bank to have ANY vehicle towed. read more

Metered expired for no more than 5 minutes at the private lot located off of Washington and 13th... I knew I was cutting it close but didn't think I was going to come back to my car up on the tow rack. I asked the driver my options and he said bluntly pay $140 in cash now or $240 in cash after it gets towed... I just happen to have $150 in my wallet but it was byway of three $50s. Driver responded by saying he didn't have any change... of course not. The towing company got $140 and the driver got $10 all for a five minute expired metered. I wasn't towed. What I DID experience is a jerk in a tow truck. He was tailgating the poor car in front of him, swerving all over his lane and into my lane, and when we had to stop at a red light, the SECOND THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN he started laying on his horn for people to go. There wasn't even any reaction time for the poor person in the front to go. AND EVEN IF THEY HAD TIME....there was a car still turning so he COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE. I would never in my life recommend this scamming company. Terrible, con-artists. SHAME on the city of Miami for allowing this. I would never again return to south beach with my family, friends, or colleagues. While at a work event, we parked in a lot owned by a company associated with Tremont (I assume they "own" - aka purchased the land to scam people and tourists). Directly in front of my vehicle was a parking ticket meter. We paid and got our ticket. Put the ticket on the dash. 25 minutes later, we return and the car is gone. Within minutes, the Tremont Towtruck is entering the same parking lot again (to take another car). We ask the man if they towed my vehicle, they say yes. They then proceeded to feed me some bs about having to pay at the meter located completely across the parking lot, on the other side. I asked why in the hell they have a meter directly in front of my car then, and told them on my dash, theyd see I had paid. This is apparently a known scam among the locals, as many people informed me they see this happen throughout the day, every day. Tremont sets it up so that people pay at the wrong meter, so that they can tow and earn $$$. One of the Miami newspapers wrote an article on the tow company scams in this city. It's absolutely terrible. While waiting on the cab (to go pay a $240 fee to get my car back from their lot), 3 more cars got taken. We ended up being able to save a nice gentleman and his wife from meeting the same fate, as they too were about to pay at the "bogus meter". Oh, and I forgot to also mention that once you get there, they'll tell you that you can only pay in cash. So - hopefully you have $240 in cash on hand, or you'll be off on another cab ride to an ATM. Stood in a line where there were many people waiting to get their cars back (some of them literally in tears). When I finally did get my vehicle back the back bumper was dented and looked like I had gotten rear ended (I assume by their carelessness when they hitched the car onto their lift). Definitely a case of predatory towing here with these scumbags. They claim it's roam towing but I parked somewhere for 30 minutes while going in a store and they towed my car within that time frame. Parked my car in a tow zone area to pick up food and leave by Bodega South beach. I noticed some black bald man starring at me in his black Rolls Royce but didn't really think much of it and left to get food quickly. Probably 10 minutes later I Arrived to my car just as tow trucker was hooking it. I explained to him what was I doing but he didn't care. He said in order to unhook the car it's $140, TO PRESS A BUTTON TO UNHOOK A CAR THAT WASNT EVEN MOUNTED $140. I understand I have to pay a fine, but $140 is just ridiculous. The guy gave me 2 options: either he takes the car or he can do this the hard way and call the cops. I requested to speak to his supervisor/manager to negotiate the drop fee because apparently he can't, he refused to contact anyone. My friend had to help me chip in for the $140.
