This place is disgusting!! I've been to this salon on a few occasions for a trim.I had to go to the doctor this week for loosing some hair, itchy, and red scalp. This was about a week after my appointment- The doctor said I have RINGWORM! I've never seen the combs in barbicide once. I should have known to run out of the store immediately! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Very unprofessional and rude. The owner Louise is always vaping while doing customers hair, very bad for anyone with asthma!!! Every word out of her mouth is F and she talks bad about each customer after they leave (in front of the other customers might I add). Only two people actually do hair and I was left waiting in my chair for 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I found them on groupon and I won't be back. There are way better salons out there that actually care about you and won't give you a halfassed service. It is baffling to me that they were named best salon on li for years in a row. 100% do not recommend the stylist were unprofessional & made rude remarks. I was scheduled with Louise, and after waiting 15 min I was put with a girl who just graduated high school & doesn't know how to properly cut hair. I spent more time under a blow dryer then time having my hair done. They also talked politics which is unnecessary and unprofessional. I am very impressed by the personal service received from Rachel. She was upfront and didn't try to upsell at all. She listened to my concerns about how much to cut off my hair and thoroughly explained the Brazilian Blowout. I felt so relaxed my entire time there and they are very customer service driven. Both my husband and I live in upstate NY, we u ed to live on the Island, but we travel 4 hours each way just to go witNesses & Colors!! It used to be for the hair styling, but now its for hair and beauty products!! All AMERICAN made by the owner!! Just Fabulous!! I recommend the shampoo and conditioner!! For convenience, wanted to try a salon close by. Don't go there for just a haircut !!! They might be great colorists but Louise gave me the worst haircut I ever had in my lifetime. This place is just awful. Run down, terrible look, it's in a strip mall which makes it really low end. I know that owners love to point out that clients used a Groupon...what does that prove? That I'm a smart consumer who is looking for a new place with a great price? I think that makes me a smart shopper. It's a shame that with all of the potential Groupon gives you still can't turn a groupon into a client. This is where they went wrong. Had you showed me talent or ultimate customer service skills I would have remained a client but you chose to act otherwise. So I bought a groupon and figured i'd try a new salon because my current hair girl is on maternity leave. I tried to schedule an appointment and that laughed and said they are soo busy to try next week. I asked for a saturday which they agreed would be fine. After i looked at my groupon i realized i didn't purchase a hair cut but instead i purchased a deep conditioning treatment with blow out which is actually much more than a hair cut.. My Mistake not theirs i guess i didn't read the groupon. I called to let them know i'm pregnant and if that's safe... they told me no. But they wont exchange it for a cut that i should just get my money back from groupon. They were very rude and not accommodating both times i called. I do not trust anyone other than Louise with my hair! I've been coming here for almost 5 years getting Brazilian blow outs, highlights and color, and hair cuts and I have never gone home disappointed. Louise is so accommodating to your schedule and makes what can sometimes be a full day of treatments so enjoyable. I have very thick, unruly hair and I always go home sans frizz and dead ends. The shop is affordable, clean, and located in a great little shopping center. I've come here for my prom, my sisters Sweet 16, and everything in between. I don't trust anyone near my college to do my hair and will specifically come home just to come here. And the Sonny and Dew products that Louise also makes are such high quality! When I found Tresses & Colours (and Louise), my hair was thinning and dull. Now, I have shiny, healthy looking and strong hair! I have had an appointment every 5-6 weeks (for many YEARS now) to have my hair done and wouldn't consider going anywhere else, for any price. From the street, it looks like an ordinary store front, however, once through the door, the atmosphere is relaxing and serene, and wonderful aromas of the Sonny & Dew products fills the air. After getting a Brazilian blow out last week here. I reached out to the owner because it was done incorrectly and did not even last the week. Instead of taking the time to blow out out my hair ( like the name of the service ) I was stuck under a dryer letting my hair dry curly. The girl doing my hair had said she just graduated highschool making it more then likely that she is not licenced. I took the time to email the owner to see if she could resolve my issue before posting a review but I was just given an attitude and told that I did not purchase the recommended products for after care. I was told to use sulfate free and sodium free shampoos and conditioners which I got when I left from popcorn beauty supply right down the road ( instead of paying for the way over priced items they had.$ 85.00 for shampoo and conditioner ) So because I did not get the after care products from her she said she can't do anything for me. Tell me how a gaurenteed service that is done correctly that is supposed to last 12 weeks lasted not even two weeks and that's my fault. I spent $100 on just the service then tips for the washer and the stylist. But it was a complete scam. Please do not go here. They are extremly unprofessional and cheats !!!!! Just redeemed my amazon deal for a facial here. It was probably the best "discount" facial I have ever had, just be careful if you are tall! Elisa was very nice, did not lecture me on my skin care (as usually happens at facials because of my clogged pores) and did not try to up-sell me any add-ons. She also did not leave the room for any extended periods of time which I find happens at a lot of facials either when they put the steam or a mask on. My face was worked on the entire time even while under the steam, and while the mask was on there was an awesome shoulder/neck massage. The only complaints I would have are that there could have been more extractions (Im a glutton for punishment), and that biggest problem was that the room was closet sized, and the foot of the bed was touching the door when closed. This resulted in my feet touching the door the entire time. A taller person would not fit (I am 5'7") so beware! Even though I enjoyed this facial I would never pay the full $85 for a facial where my feet barely fit in the room, but for the money it was good. read more
