FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!! ... that is my strong recommendation, you need an agent that is on your side and Treye Hardaway is not that agent. After 7 months Treye Hardaway abandoned me without resolution of my $1000+ refund and then State Farm stepped in solved the problem in a few hours.
I had 6 active policies when I moved in Aug 2021 (home, auto, rental, 2 jet skis, umbrella). All of these policies had been prepaid for the year. A month after the move and getting poor service getting some policies canceled (rental and jet skis) and some transferred (home, auto, umbrella) to the new home, I decided to find a local agent at my new home. I cancel everything in September 2021 and was told by the agent that everything was canceled as requested. But nothing happened. After multiple phone calls and multiple emails nothing happened. I finally starting calling State Farm directly in November 2021. State Farm said the agent had to cancel the policies and they could not work directly with me. State Farm called the agent and told them what they needed to do. After a month of no results by the agent, I called State Farm again and they once again told me the agent had to cancel the policies but State Farm did call the agent again and got them to cancel my policies. The agent missed one (never canceled it) and the others were canceled at the current date of January minus 30 days. So, the refunds were dated for December instead of the cancellation date of September. So, then it was more emails and phone calls. Then a new person in the agent's office started working on it. She told me, now six months later, that she needed declaration pages from my new insurance company and proof of sale in order to get the cancellation back dated correctly. This was the first time I had heard they needed anything from me. The same day I sent the agent this and I confirmed their receipt with a phone call. She said I would have to wait a month for State Farm to process the request. A month later, nothing had happened. Back on the phone with State Farm. State Farm once again told me the agent had to fix the problem and they had not received anything from the agent but they would send the explicit instructions to the agent on what to do. A week later on the phone with State Farm to find out if the agent had done what was needed. They had not. Now we are 7 months after the cancellation request and the agent says they can no longer help me since all my policies had all expired and I was no longer their client. They would not even send in a copy of my declaration pages to State Farm that they had for over a month. So, I got on the phone with State Farm and told them the agent is non-responsive. 7 months into the cancellation request State Farm told me that the only thing I could do was file a complaint, so I did. Within 2 hours of getting my documentation to State Farm of the email exchanges with the agent (save all your emails), State Farm started processed my cancellation request without question and within two weeks sent me the appropriate refunds, now May 2022.
Eight months of, in my opinion, intentional delay and frustration to do one of the most basic things in the insurance business (cancel a policy). An agent that has been in the business that long with State Farm cannot be that incompetent, it has to be intentional and probably fraud. Treye Hardaway is not on your side and will not work for you!! During this entire process Treye would not talk to me directly but stayed in the background letting his office workers handle the exchanges. State Farm solved the problem in the end but their policy of not allowing the end customer to address grievances with their agents directly needs to be adjusted. State Farm never told me about the complaint path until my agent would not respond to me any longer. read more
