I reviewed this company immediately after they packed the home I was moving out of, and the workers had been there since early in the morning. Even though I had paid for the service, I was impressed and grateful for the help since I am disabled, lived on the second floor, and could NEVER have accomplished any of it myself. Although there had been a few snags (workers taking long breaks, smoking at the door of my apartment, arguing with each other about who was not working or who was moving too slowly) when I called the office, it seems the matters were handled well, so I was still okay with the initial results of the first part of the move. However, I had no idea how my evening would end. My move was from one city to another city 45 minutes away. The workers met me at my new place but seemed rushed and almost aggravated when I pulled up. I didn't know if it was at each other or me, but I tried to ignore it. At the time, I did not realize their boss/the manager had joined the crew. He did not identify himself to me. I could hear that they were cursing at each other and rushing each other along, instructing each other how to unload my belongings, but I didn't understand why. After all, this apartment was on the ground floor and the parking was just outside my door. In any case, I tried to ignore it because I was just thankful to be in my new place. Every box and bin was supposed to be labeled as they were packing since I had gone to great lengths to designate items and instructed the packers at the other location. The group ended up staying and unloading past midnight, resulting in items stacked up in my two-bedroom, two-bath apartment in a highly unorganized way. As I mentioned, I am disabled. Large wardrobe boxes (nearly as tall as I am) lined my hallway so that my walking device could not fit down the hall with me. All of my closets were stuffed with the same wardrobe boxes. My kitchen was full of heavy boxes that I could not move, blocking all appliances and leaving me unable to use my kitchen for months. Everywhere I turned, there were boxes and boxes stacked on top of each other. Most disconcerting was #1. Many boxes were not labeled and were incorrectly packed (items were just dumped from drawers or cabinets into boxes without care); #2 boxes were placed in the correct rooms (leaving me having to search for essential items). Many of my items were damaged due to the way they were packed or not packed. I am still finding broken items as I continue to sift my way to open boxes, little by little, almost one year later. Using Tri-City Mover's services has left me in a dire situation for quite some time. Due to my condition, I could not move much of anything, but I had to enlist the help of a kind volunteer college student once, and then ultimately had to hire someone to help me slowly undue what was done. I would not recommend this company. They overpromise and severely underdeliver. The customer service over the phone is delightful, but the actual service is atrocious. In addition, the manager, Kelvin, comes off as a problem solver, but he never showed up each time he said they "would fix it," he refuses to give me the company's insurance information so that I can file a claim for my damaged items. He even accused me of "just wanting an interior decorator" when I asked if his company could come and rearrange the boxes to the correct rooms and remove them from blocking my closets. Can you imagine?? This packing and moving service cost me about $2,000, but I paid way more because of the costs incurred to survive and how they left me in my new place. I have used several services such as this and have never had such an experience. I can't believe they are still in business doing things this way. However, I found out they have several websites under different names directing people to the same company, and they do business in NC, SC, and VA very quietly (no registration in VA or SC, so perhaps misguiding people is their business model. I am unsure but will never give them another dime or referral. I retract EVERYTHING I said about them in my initial review. I am also attaching photos of what my new apartment looked like and how some boxes were packed when I opened them just after Tri-City Movers left me in my new place and I found someone to help me make a walking patch. read more

Just got moved by Tri city movers, from Kernersville to Wilmington. John and his Crew did a great job, they arrived early and worked hard on one of the hottest days of the year. They loaded our house on two trucks in good time, they were polite and went that extra mile to make sure everything was packed well and safe. They had me follow up when they completed the upstairs to make sure nothing was missed and same for the downstairs. Our plan was to have them drop the first part of the load at our new apartment and then the remainder at storage for when we move to a house in a few months. This required them loading the trucks in the proper order to make unloading go smoothly. They managed this well. They made the run to Wilmington and offloaded at our temporary apartment and the rest at a storage unit nearby (maybe 40%/60% split). They had us done by approximately 5:30, which was great, we had originally thought 2 days, but they did it in one. They were always friendly and even helped me unload some things I transported in my car. Very polite and they even thanked us for letting them move us. The price was right in line or below the other quotes we got and the service was top notch. I Highly recommend them! read more

These guys are great. We had a POD delivered to our new apartment and had a crew of three gentleman come out to unload it. The team member over the phone was able to help coordinate a good time for the unpack and the arrival of the moving crew was as requested. The movers did a great job getting everything upstairs and inside (including a very heavy hutch with a glass front) with no damage done to any of our personal items or apartment. They asked where we wanted furniture placed and which rooms the various boxes were going to. They were friendly and professional and did one heck of a job. Price was a good value and they were done with a fully-loaded 16ft POD in under three hours. Highly recommend. read more

I called about a month and a half prior to my move. The woman who took my reservation was so nice and answered all of my questions and provided additional information that I didn't think to ask. I didn't receive an email confirmation, which I don't think they provide. I called a few days prior to my move date to be sure I still had a reservation. The reassured me about my move date. They went through what I needed to do, etc. The weather on the day of my move couldn't be worse...fog, rain, wind and clouds. My two movers were on time. They were able to work around the weather. They wrapped my furniture and worked so quickly. I had to move 3 rooms. They wrapped everything so neatly. My movers were professional, quick and friendly. I highly recommend these movers. When it came time to move from a two-bedroom house to a three-bedroom house one city away, they were the first name that came to mind, and I am glad that I went with them again. After filling out a form, I received a same-day callback and was able to schedule the move easily from there. The day before our move date, I received a follow-up/confirmation call to describe the items to be transported. At no point were there any red flags or policies that gave me pause. The day of the move, the three-man crew showed up on-time. Lataveus, Kendale, and Miles did a fantastic job. They were careful (shrink-wrapped furniture to ensure safe transit), and they were quick. A move that was estimated to take five hours was done in two and a half. All told, I was very satisfied with this company. Moving is an exhausting process regardless, but Tri-City made it considerably less stressful than it could have been. read more

I can't say enough about the efficiency of the crew sent to us. Their work was focused on making sure all of our belongings were protected and loaded safely onto the truck. These fellas were very kind! I have elderly folks so I provided the movers with masks to wear inside the house and they complied without any fuss. I was suppose to get a 3 man crew but they only sent 2 last second, which was okay because they got the job done and I didn't have to pay for a 3 man crew. Chipped my expensive bedroom set in one spot and I plan to try and cover it up with color but I was told to let them know if it did workout. Not sure how they compensate for it. We had Tri-City Movers at our house today to transfer a lot of items from our home to storage. We had prepacked most of it, so it wouldn't take the movers long. Dave & Kendale arrived right on time & shook our hands, identifying themselves. They were clean & dressed in their Tri-City tshirts. They requested a quick look around so they'd know which items to take. Both men worked quickly and with purpose. They didn't waste time or joke around, simply doing their job. I appreciate that they were very careful moving a glass china cabinet & other heavy items. By the time we finished, it had taken just under 2 hours for the whole move to storage. My only concern is their prices seem a bit high ($360 for 2 hours), but they offer quality work. We'll consider working with them again in the future. read more

Recently hired these guys for a move from Jamestown to Greensboro. Since it was such a proximal move, we went ahead and moved all of the small stuff and boxes we could load ourselves in the week or two prior to the movers arriving to our old three bedroom townhome The day of, they arrived right on time, took a quick walk around to see all the furniture we had to move and then hopped right to work. With three guys working, they had the truck loaded up in quite literally two hours, still taking the time to wrap each item in plastic before loading. Quickly buttoning up, we took the short drive to Greensboro and they positioned the truck in the driveway. Another quick walk around the new place to let them see where we'd like the items placed, and they were off again. They completed the move in exactly four hours, only damaging the leg on one of the dressers. No biggie and I didn't bother even complaining, but that's quite literally the only thing keeping this from being a perfect move. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. read more

A several horrific moves across the country, I can finally say I finally had a good move. The three-person team and a supervisors arrived early. The completed the move quickly, yet they took great care of my art work and other fragile items. The team was their to work, they were professional and finished within set pre-payment. There were no additional charges, mandatory tips ( yet I did tip all 4 generously ) and extra weight or packing charges. This happens often and make many of us leery of calling any moving company. I had a strange job where I needed some really heavy (est 1000 lb) scientific equipment moved from a pickup truck down a really tricky set of stairs to a basement. The first crew of a few guys they sent out gave it a try, but had to give up due to the weight. Tri City Movers came back with the full crew a few days later ready to do battle and got the job done. I used Tri-city for a local move of a 4 bedroom house. Their estimate was very accurate and was very happy with how smoothly it went. They were helpful and really tried to keep the cost as low as possible by utilizing the best combination of trucks and man-power. Those guys work hard. We hired Tri City to move our furniture to storage with only a few weeks notice - they packed dishes carefully and cautiously, gently handled all of our stuff. I used Tri-City previously, but they had different workers. They did an excellent job moved me from one apartment to another. This time when I used City it was different movers they were in a rush and they damaged a lot of my things. They did not even have to move and set up my furniture all they had to do was place my things in storage. The next day when I went to get something out of storage I noticed that some things were damaged and the kitchen set that I was going to give away was scraped on every corner. How do you do that?...unless you're just dragging someone's stuff. All they had to do was put my things in storage and this time they charged me almost $100 more than they did the first time when they had to set everything up. I would not suggest this mover at!!! Before I realized my things were damaged I gave them $100 tip even though all they did was complain about having to go do another job and then realizing how they handled my things. read more

I used this company for a recent move. They were amazing. Mike was my crew leader and he was all about getting the job done correctly and quickly. They sent 3 guys. Mike wrapped all furniture neatly while the other two carried items down to the truck from the apartment. They took apart and reassembled anything that needed it. All three were very very nice and respectful. A three man crew from Tricity was cheaper than the hourly rate for a two man crew offered by their competitors. I wish 0 stars was an option. The gentleman Dave I was working with was the absolute rudest person I have ever met. I was going to give them a shot but I will never ever ever refer anyone to them. I will actually do the opposite and tell them to stay far away. If someone cannot respect you when you're trying to give them business - why would I let them in my home with all of my belongings. Now that I have had this experience I understand why so many people have told me to stay away from them- I will pay extra to be treated like an actual human being. I'm just at a loss for how rude some people are. A small company like theirs should want as much business as possible and should treat their future customers like they're needed- because, well- they are. But Dave will run even more of your customers away. So good luck in your future business adventures - and hopefully you make some new team decisions. We used Tri- City for a move from Greensboro NC to West Virginia ( husband had a job transfer) in the beginning of October. I was highly impressed with the company from start to end. Estimate was right on target for an out of state move and abargin considering how professional the moving crew was and how hard they worked. We moved from one townhouse style apartment to another and found when we arrived that our queen size box spring wouldn't fit up the stairs, moving crew made several attempts to try it and when we couldn't they were helpful with suggestions for a replacementthrll solution as well as,taking the old box spring away so we didn't have to. They also shrink wrapped several items to protect them during the move (not a single scratch). I've had bad luck with another well known moving company so I was very pleased with how great this went. My husband and I can't say enough about Tri-City Movers of Greensboro, NC. Kelvin and his company are absolutely first rate. From the initial on-site estimate to the packing to the actual move(s), he and his team could not have been more pleasant, professional and efficient. Our move was a rather complicated undertaking which involved moving us out of a large, 5000+ sqft home and a separate office building in preparation for an out-of-state move. Specifically about 75% of our things had to be packed and moved into rented containers that would be transported ultimately to our new home in Colorado (note: we used PackRats for the containers and they too were excellent!), and the rest of our things had to be packed and moved into an apartment. Since our situation required us to stay in Greensboro for a few months after moving out of our home & prior to moving out of NC, we again hired Tri-City Movers when the time came to move out of the apartment in preparation for the final move to Colorado. Both of the moves went as smooth as could be. Kelvin is so easy to work with, punctual, very polite with an exceptional work ethic. It is obvious too that he hires with this in mind, because all the people he employees have those same great qualities... honest, hard-working, efficient and enjoyable to have in your home. On top of that, the prices they charged for their services were better than other companies we interviewed and received estimates from - costs: $2750.00 for first multi-part move out of our home & $440.00 to move from apartment into moving truck. The first multi-part move ended up involving more work than we originally had Kelvin quote. Yet when it came time to write the check, Kelvin never added one more dime to his original quote! We couldn't believe it and were just thankful for his attitude thruout the whole process!! Plus, we are happy to report that once we arrived in Colorado and unpacked all the dozens and dozens of boxes and furniture that they packed up for us, not one thing was damaged, broken or scratched!! Just a superb job from start to finish!! Thank you Kelvin and crew!! Do not hesitate to use this company if you ever have need for a moving company. read more
