A warm, welcoming store that has everything I need, and then some! The old West charm makes this a place worth stopping for.

Yeah, I'm reviewing a grocery store…read more Most of the time, a Safeway is a Safeway. You go there and buy groceries and go home. Unfortunately, this one needs special attention. I know it's a small town but I feel that too many businesses use that as an excuse to provide sub-par products and services. First of all, there's the quality of the stock. I regularly find food that is a week, two weeks, even a month out of date, sitting on the shelves. Slightly less regularly I find food that is even a year out of date. For example, last time I went in there was microwave popcorn still on the shelf that expired April of last year. Is it fine to eat? I'm sure it is, but it's laughable that it would still be on the shelf, and not even discounted. Secondly, the checkout lanes are always under staffed. It seems like no matter what time or what day you go shopping, there is a line stacked up at the register. Aside from the obvious annoyance of waiting in line for 10 minutes to buy 3 things, you also can't access any of the aisles near the registers due to the crowds of people standing around trying to check out. If you want to get into the freezer aisle, you have to go all the way to the back of the store, go down the freezer aisle, then turn around and go back to the rear of the store to get back out. Finally, the building itself. Front entrance door was broken for 11 days straight. This store only has one door in and one door out so we had people crowding both ways through a single door for almost 2 weeks. Again, we're kind of in the middle of nowhere, but Denver /is/ only 3 hours away. Are you seriously telling me that a Safeway in Denver couldn't get the same part and fix their door in less time? Along similar lines, the deli was broken for about 8 days recently. I just stopped in one day, the lights are out, and a sign says "deli closed". So for a week we had no cakes, no pies, no deli food, no sandwiches, no bagels, no doughnuts, and no cookies. No explanation. Sadly, there isn't a lot of other options. Douglas Grocery is the locally owned alternative but they are closed at 6PM every weekday and not open on Sundays. For those of us who have to do our shopping on Sundays and/or after 6PM, we get to go to Safeway. On the plus side, I pay a lot closer attention to what I'm purchasing when I have to make sure my fresh produce isn't moldy and my meats aren't expired.

The higher management is horrendously awful at his job, doing anything and everything to make it worse for customers and employees alike. Customers are heard complaining on behalf of the employees and yet some how the higher management is still employed. This place is visibly going down hill and the only reason the gm is still employed is because he's blaming it all on his employees.

Overall Ridley's is a great supermarket, however I am not a fan of their coffee shop (red mango)…read more I ordered an iced tea, they basically gave me a cup of water with a tea bag inside, they mentioned that since it's a cold brew it takes about 10 minutes to absorb the flavor, well I've been waiting for a while and it still tastes like plain water. I asked them to change my drink as it straight up tasted like tap water, and they told me they won't change it as it is a cold brew and it will take time for the color to change, they told me that's how it is... again, I waited a while and no change! It is very rare for me to write reviews on anything, but in this case I wanted to share my experience because you are not getting what you paid for. I am very disappointed and truthfully I won't give this place another try .

I basically never return anything but had a great customer service experience with Kim and the GM…read morethis morning. 10 days ago, I ordered 12 jars of creamy almond butter over DoorDash, their in-house brand Open Nature, and I thought I was getting their stir-version, where the oil sits on top and you gotta stir stir stir, I wanted that because it contained just almonds and salt, but little did I know there was only one of those in-stock , and little did I know my Dasher would substitute 10 with the creamy *no-stir* version that had been "emulsified" with palm oil, all I knew is she was subbing the 11th with a crunchy version (that also had palm oil, which I didn't know...) so long story short only 1 of the 12 jars was actually what I wanted, and I didn't realize it til 10 days later when my Costco almond butter ran out and it was time to crack into Safeway's. I open it and it looks like Jiff peanut butter, so I read the ingredients label and turns out I've been bamboozled. To my Dasher's credit, the stir and no-stir creamy versions look nearly identical besides the oil at the top, a small "no stir" label, and the tiny ingredients list, and she doesn't know my fairly strict dietary preferences. But I thought I wouldn't be able to return FOOD over a week later, gave it a shot anyways and they were perfectly reasonable, willing to give me my money back or an exchange. I was mentally prepared to just eat the loss and donate it to the local soup kitchen, but instead I walked out with a variety of all natural Teddie's Peanut Butter, containing just peanuts or peanuts and salt. AI was telling me the combination of this 12 jar almond butter order being over a week ago AND ordered through DoorDash AND being food meant I had a snowball's chance in hell of getting ANYTHING done there and yet I got EVERYTHING done and I'm really happy with the way they handled things. Thank you Kim and the GM.
