I love the chorizo tacos. Small but hearty. The birra is tender. The steak tacos are great as well. The fish tacos I think it sautéed salmon chucks, very flavorful. The chorizo has my heart. With their homemade spicy green sauce, chefs kiss -* they accept card but if their machine doesn't work (it's happened to me) there's plenty of ways to get cash on the same block. The Mexican food from this 7 day a week truck, available evenings on Greenpoint Ave. in Sunnyside is outstanding. Our go-to dish is the chicken burrito is consistently tasty. The pork burrito is a solid backup to the chicken. While both are extremely flavorful and a cross between Tex Mex and Mexican, they are not strongly spicy. The green sauce sides they throw on with every burrito order (love that verde sauce!) will bring the spiciness up a notch or two, and the red pepper based sauce will kick it into higher gear for those who like it spicier. Sometimes, the guys will send you off with some cooked Mexican green chiles wrapped in tin foil (no extra charge when included with the order) that are way too intensely spiced for my Brooklyn born tastes. The truck grill and kitchen area is always clean when I've been on site to order instead of ordering for delivery. My wife and I highly recommend, as does my son and daughter too. Great value - tasty /quality burrito which are fairly priced. Remember, it's truck so no in/out door seating; only take-out or delivery, or you can stand at a small outside counter along a portion of the front of the truck. Enjoy! read more

Another fallen star with a couple of deducted ones, the magic that TRI once had is no longer the case. With different folks running the truck and higher prices, it now is just as plain jane as other taco trucks in the area. If there was ever a point in which Sunnyside's taco game was on the rise, it has now completely mellowed out. For starters, TRI had the luxury of calling itself one of the cheapest street side tacos in west Queens at only $2 each, but now at the taco standard of $2.50. The price change was probably inevitable, along with a few other items on their menu. Burritos, huaraches, quesadillas have all been tacked for a $1 more. Even if the price tag is more, one would hope the quality would be the same. But as of late, it's not. The initial staff that was running the truck is no longer there and it has resulted in a few changes, all for the worse: subpar meats and slower delivery. Delivery isn't a something I would consider much for a taco truck, but it has been noticeably slower even on weeknights. While still solid in a pinch, Corona and Jackson Heights are still the hoods to beat. read more

You got the drunchies (drunk munchies) - so you decide to grab grub at the only place open at night ... This damn taco truck. Been coming here weekly till I was diagnosed with a fatty liver. Now I come here monthly. My friends enjoy their tacos. Some prefer the tortas (sandwich). I on the other hand, prefer the tostadas. It's 2 for $7. I'm getting one chicken and one salted beef. I ask for everything. "Make it spicy boss", I say. Roughly 7 minutes later, the guy in the truck is calling me telling me my orders ready. I proceed to ask for more hot sauce on the side. (If you're not getting the runs the following morning, is it really true Mexican food? Think about that). These guys have been here for years & recipe never changes. Warning. You must stay away from Tri Tacos. Because Tri Tacos are made by and owned by Tri People. Tri People are the scourge of the planet. Tri People live in the Tris (duh) and swing from branch to branch using vines. They're sort of like the Ewoks in Return Of The Jedi but not nearly as cute and very, very, very evil. Yes I know these tacos are absolutely delicious, but that only proves my point. It only serves to illuminate just how f***ing devious and manipulative these Tri People are. And they are as savage as they are devious. In fact probably more so. Watch. The f***. Out. Okay. (Takes a deep breath) I'm sorry. I've been off my meds. I'll explain in a second. What to get: Asada Tacos, or any of them really What not to get: Kidnapped by Tri People and held hostage in one of their Trihouses If you do get kidnapped: Say hi to my family for me. I shouldn't be ranting about this Tri People stuff. It's just not right. I mean, they have the right to live in the Tris if they want to. And what I said isn't really accurate. I mean, yes, they kidnapped my family and yes they have been terrorizing my home country for years. But what you have to understand is, I didn't like my family anyway. And I don't live in my home country anymore so I'm okay with it. I can deal. I shouldn't get so worked up. This happens every time I don't take my pills in the morning. I'm okay now. Aside from all those warnings, these are some of the best tacos in New York City. I've tried the best ones in Manhattan (which never appealed to me) and the best of Brooklyn (which are sometimes good, sometimes not), but Queens has the better selection in my opinion. Of the brick & mortar restaurants (I feel so hipster even saying that, and I am so not hipster, especially when I'm off my meds), I like Suadero and Coatzingo. Of the trucks, I like Rey De Oro, Guadalajara De Noche, and of course... Tri Tacos. I'm probably forgetting a few. El Tri, by the way, is the nickname of the Mexican flag (Tricolor) and of the Mexican soccer team, more famously. The one that never seems to win anything, but did manage to win the Olympic Soccer Tournament recently (which is an under-23 tournament for the most part). So congrats to them for that. I think the soccer team might actually be named after this taco cart. I'll get back to you on that. There are more than one location of Tri, but this is the one I know well, and the most established and popular. They make tacos fresh for you late into the night, and every single one is delicious. They're fairly friendly, speaking in broken English (or giggling at my broken Spanish), and prices are nice and low. All of the meats I've tried have been good, better than average, even great if you're starving. Well flavoured. Be careful because the salsas are extremely hot. This is real Mexican for real Mexicans. It can blow your head off if you use too much of it or aren't used to it. Dip your tongue in it first and make sure you can handle it. There was a time that you could get shot just for walking up to this taco cart, usually by the owners of one of the other taco carts because of the "taco wars" that plagued Queens for years. But those times are past, ever since the "Tri-ty Of Taco." Which is sort of like the Tri-ty of Versailles, but without any reparations whatsoever being paid by Germany. I last had these tacos a few months ago on one of my Queens food tours, and I'm sure I will have them again, as I'm a sucker for street tacos. Hopefully next time I come to town I'll be on my meds. Next time I try these taco trucks, I'll try them all in the space of an hour so I can make a definitive judgment as to which one is the best. I'll get back to you on that. Let me start off by saying this is the best Mex food in the neighborhood and I've been ordering from here for 3+ years. However, over the last few months, they have consistently messed up my order. I tipped them well everytime, but I recently had to draw the line. After 4 consecutive bad deliveries, I called them to have my order corrected after a 50 min delivery on a thursday. After politely asking them to deliver what I ordered and payed for, whoever answered got a little snippy with me. Long story short, what I asked for, and payed for, never actually got to me. While living in Sunnyside, I made it a point to check out all the taco trucks around. First, the tacos are $2.50, so the fare is standard to all, not cheaper, as some one indicated. They don't have carne asada, and when ordered, was given stewed beef. The chicken taco was clean, unlike others that carry an old overcooked taste, but is light on flavor. It's good but not a 5* value eat. The asada taco was flavorful but chewy for a slow roasted beef. I'm afraid the other trucks have it more spot on authentic & flavorful too. All in all, not a bad taco truck; just not memorable or as superb as others claim. read more

This is my go-to Mexican delivery/pick-up truck. Their chicken nachos are great! I always get it almost every Sunday when Walking Dead is on. It is the perfect dinner/snack, except that it can get messy, but that's why you eat it at home. Best taco cart in the neighborhood, trust me ive tried them all. These guys not only survived the infamous "Taco Wars" of Queens but managed to steal the top spot. My go tos are the Sopes, Quesadillas (made by hand,who's hand? I dont know but is fudgin delicious)and of course the tacos. I wouldnt trust any Taco Cart establishment that speaks English without an accent and these guys deliver on this. Talking about deliver, they also deliver! Prices are good for the amount of culinary gold(as far as taco carts go) they give you. Not only is the food good but the ambience is lively due to the Mexican bars around the hood. I ordered the nachos. However, the cheese was not melted. It had too much sour cream (assuming that's why it tasted sour). I asked the guy if there was guacamole in the nachos, he said yes but I barely tasted any. For a $8 nachos + $1 tip which you can get for that price at a restaurant instead of a food cart, is really not impressive. Portion was also small. I wish I took a photo but I didn't.
