Basically Birria-Landia's Upper East Side cousin, which is not a bad thing. If you like Birria-Landia, the more well-known and widespread birria truck family, you'll probably like Casa Birria too. And if you haven't had Birria-Landia or birria in general, well, you'll probably still like them! Casa Birria is a simple food truck with a simple menu of just a few items. I noticed they have a few meat options but assuming you eat beef, you of course have to get the birria (slow-cooked beef in a slightly spicy and indulgent broth). It comes in multiple vehicles which are all basically some configuration of tortilla, onions, cilantro, meat, and sometimes cheese depending on what you pick. The taco is the classic and the $12 taco combo is a nice deal, though as a smaller eater and cheese-lover, I personally go for a couple of mulitas. Juicy meat with a bit of heat, melty cheese, and legit corn tortillas soaked in that delicious broth, what's not to love? The truck is open pretty late, has fast straightforward service, and like any truck does not have seating so you have to either eat on the sidewalk or have a place in mind to bring it; there is a park a few blocks up. Definitely cheaper than most meals in this part of the city and I'd be a regular if I lived close by! read more

The consume was good but I do think $5 for consume is kinda wild. $4.95 for tostada and I'd say the tostada was my favorite out of it all. I think I'd skip on paying for the consume. The food itself was decent, I just feel like I would rather get a lot of other food trucks in the area before I would repeat come to here! God I wish they had a restaurant where I can sot down & eat their tacos all day! This is one of New York's finest Taco trucks on the upper east side. Its about a 15 minute walk from Central Park & The Met. Forget about eating at The Met, I walked all the way to get Tacos here. I did take it to go & they were still delicious! I like how the menu is very simple. Its all birria meat 4 ways. Tostada, Taco, Mulita (wrap) & quesadilla. Then you can add a cup of Consomé with your dish. I highly recommend the consomé, when its cold you can drink it like a soup. Thats it! Plain & simple yet so flavorful, juicy, and filling. Of course they also sell drinks. They have Jarritos, Mexican Coke, Canned sodas & water. Another recommendation I want to add is, get the 3 taco combo. One taco is not enough. You'll want more, I made that mistake my first trip there! 10/10, this Taco Truck is actually ranked in NYC's top 9 Taco trucks. Ordered 3 different things off the menu for delivery, and they were soaking in orange grease. I don't mind fat and flavor but this is hard to describe. We both took a few bites and despite giving up soon, we both got stomachaches . I don't know if it was an off day or what but I rarely if ever write a low star review but this is probably one of the worst meals I've had so want to warn others. I know it's not everyone's experience but trust your gut! If your gut says avoid it, just listen. I didn't and now I'm here writing this random review. read more

If you want to have the best birria within Manhattan, this is the truck for you. Birria can be hit or miss. Even if the meet is juicy, it may not have been marinated with the right chilies or spices to be flavorful. But look no more: Casa Birria has it DOWN. Birria quesadilla: 11/10 I mean just look at it. Stuffed with cheese and juicy birria, this quesadilla tastes like heaven in your mouth. The red salsa and sour cream are a great cool addition to the piping hot food. I don't know what more to say than just to get it and enjoy it for yourself. Juicy and flavorful birria mixed with cheese and wrapped in a perfectly crisped tortilla = happiness. The quesadilla is the best value in my mind but I'm sure their other dishes are just as good. Really nice staff too! What more could you want! read more

I waited for a showing in Sloatsburg and was glad I went!! I ordered two 3 packs of tacos, they are now $12 for 3 instead of $10. Excellent tacos!! All fresh and prepared fantastic! I looked at the salsa being only half full but then after tasting it I see why. Great big kick!! A perfect pairing for the tacos! I will try to keep updated on when they're local to me. Being from southern California, I had high high hopes for this birria and consome and I was not disappointed! A great deal for 3 tacos for $12. Their mulitas were absolutely heavenly and that consome was cooked to perfection I drank the entire thing after dipping my tacos and mulita. We took these to go and sat at a nearby dog park to eat it. There was on line when we went (a Friday at around lunch time) which I was pleasantly surprised by! While we were waiting, another patron eagerly exclaimed that she had been looking for this food truck and wasn't aware that they had moved locations so it's evident this spot is beloved and sought out. Saw this food truck on the way to Central Park and got tacos for the park!! Their 3 for $10 tacos is a great one. We tried all the meats but enjoyed the Birria (goat) and al pastor the most. The chicken was okay. The tacos were crunchy when hot even though it was corn (I think). Such a great flavorful lunch! The lunch rush was busy so we waited about $10 for our order! Tried this place once before back in the day but didn't remember and was craving birria tacos, I was the third person in line and I ordered just about everything except for 2 items. One person working and preparing/ packing the food. I got the 3 birria tacos,consume and tostada, everything came out to $21 or $22 dollars after tax which isn't horrible but I'm sure it was cheaper back when I first ordered it. I got my food and came to shake shack to sit down and eat it, it wasn't absolutely hot maybe more like luke warm, I started with the tostada because I had never had it before and I got it with chicken so in the simplest form it's literally a big tortilla chip with the toppings and protein on top and then I had the consume with the birria tacos which didn't have a lot of meat inside the consume as I was starting to eat it as a soup but realized it's really best to just use it to dip the tacos. Like the other reviewers said it's definitely not seasoned at all or well and I was expecting cheese inside them but realize that every Birria place makes them different. Next time maybe I will try to quesadilla but overall this place is only really a try it once type of thing but if you are ever in the area then I get it read more

If you are ordering for one, trust me, order this and you will be satisfied: 3 taco deal with consume ($14). Not only will your taste buds be happily thanking you, but you will be wanting more and more. If you want to get more absorption per bite with the consume, add a Mulita as it is a bread that can carry more flavor when dipped as juxtaposed to a thin taco. The tostada is actually phenomenal as you get an amazing cheese pull when you eat it. The only drawback to this place is that there is typically a line and it does take a while to prepare your food. You also have to walk a certain distance to sit and eat comfortably as this is just a food truck. Overall, I will be a repeat customer as this is some of the most flavorful Mexican food around. read more

Must try: Three Tacos Combo and Consomé! Why: Three tacos for only $10?! Packed with birria meat with onions, cilantro, salsa, and lime. The soft shell had a surprisingly perfect crisp to it and it was u-shaped allowing more ingredients and less mess. Definitely try dipping the tacos in the Consomé for added flavor, then sip or drink the soup. Notes: I walk by this food truck all the time from the 4,5,6 Subway and usually there's a lot of people in the area because it's in front of Shake Shack and other department stores so I bypass it to limit crowding; however, I went on a Saturday right before the lunch crowd and I am forever changed! Great flavor to the birria tacos and well packaged. The consume container became soggy and perhaps can be improved? I only walked 4 blocks. This taco truck was such a good find! The owner of the truck serves a variety of Mexican food including Birria tacos. My friends and I came here right before visiting the MET, and we took our food to eat at Central Park. The owner is super nice; he gave my friend a discount on her tacos AND an extra taco. Even though we had a lot of people, he prepared and bagged our food very quickly. Since this is a taco truck, there's not really a seating area, so you have to take the tacos to-go. The tacos are delicious and have a ton of the meat. The beef inside the tacos is super tender and flavorful and juicy; the consommé is also delicious and well-spiced. The consommé also has a lot of shredded beef, and you get spoons to drink the consommé at the end. I drank all of my consommé because it was so tasty. Overall, this place is a great spot to grab something to eat, and I would love to see this place get more traffic. read more

Great spot for Birria tacos! The food truck is located right outside the Ulta on 86th and 3rd Avenue. We opted to order online for a pickup through their ToastTab ordering link. Glad we did because there was a line of people when we got there (around 7pm on a weekday), and our food still came out hot and fresh. We tried the taco combo (3 tacos for $12 now), consomé, tostada, and mulita. The tacos with consomé were definitely our favorite but the crispiness of the tostada was a close second. The flavors were bright, fresh, warm, and authentic. The beef was super tender and mouthwatering. The food was packaged nice and securely in a sturdy paper bag. They also gave us a handful of good napkins which we really appreciated since we brought it to the park to eat. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for affordable and delicious birria tacos on the go in the UES. read more

This place has been my go to Birria taco spot in New York for about a year and a half and it never disappoints. I usually get the taco combo, the consome(to dip my tacos) and two mulitas. The mulita resembles a taco sandwich with cheese in the middle. The flavors dance around in your mouth and will have you wanting more even when you're full. Very rarely the location will change so I also recommend following the instagram page for updates when you fall in love with this place. read more

I think the toastada is my favorite, and definitely love the tacos. Basically all the same ingredients prepared in different ways but damn. Every single option is amazing. I was very impressed by such delicious tacos. I love me some good tacos and these were better than good. I brought me a taco, tostada, and some consome. My taco had this tender juicy seasoned meat, and toppings that had my taste buds screaming for more. To go along with that was this warm delicious broth with added goodies like onions cilantro etc., that you dip your taco in for more of a explosive of flavor. Then you drink it, and your soul becomes delighted from the wonderful food experience you just gave it. Last but not least and my favorite was the tostada. It had all that tender juicy meat on top and was so crispy and crunchy. It held up to the juices, not becoming soggy, because I had to take this home to eat, and it still remain with that crunchy texture. (I mean it's a food truck so no place for me to enjoy right there.) I cannot wait to make another visit soon, because I need that Consome (the broth) in my life. Anyway do not let this truck pass you by if your in this area. The price is super affordable for your average Joe, Joe being your average working New Yorker. Wow! Street Tacos without a doubt! We were told about this food truck by one of the carriage drivers after asking for some recommendations and this was one of the top places he suggested. We are so glad we found it because the food has tons of flavor and it comes at an affordable price when comparing it to other food trucks and food carts. Delicious Birria tacos with consume! I love having one of the best Taco Trucks across the street from my job serving up my favorite Birria tacos on the daily. The tacos are made fresh to order and served pretty quick. I like calling in my order ahead of time to avoid the line. Casa Birria NYC is situated in the heart of UES in NYC since 2020 serving our famous Birria Tacos and Consomé (Beef Tacos and Beef Stew from two parts of Mexico, Jalisco with a twist from Tijuana. We added Chicken Tinga and delicious Pastor (Pork Tacos) for those who don’t eat beef and a Vegetarian option as well. Each can be ordered as either a Taco, a Mulita (tortilla sandwich), a Tostada or on a delicious latge Quesadilla made with a flour tortilla. Try us out and dip your tacos in our Consomé!

Established in 2011.

We started with our first Food Truck in 2011 in New York City named Mexico Blvd. After 3 years we opened a Brick & Mortar in Astoria Chela & Garnacha that is still there against all odds COVID and its aftermath. In 2020, during COVID, we rebranded the truck as Casa Birria NYC and found a very welcoming crowd in the UES in Manhattan on 86th St and 2nd Ave.

Get your drink there and a slip with your food items on it. Take the slip to the next counter where they prepare it. They're masters at it so they're cranking out a taco probably every 15 to 20 seconds. There's a line of workers operating the grills to get the meat and tortillas ready for the prep guys. So efficient. No seats. You stand and eat which really keeps the turn over rate high. The inside is no frills. Standing room only to eat your tacos and exit. The food is so good. $6 a taco but it's NYC. Love everything about this place and I try to frequent it for a quick bite as often as I can.

The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I tried the chicken, pork, and beef tacos, and every single one was packed with flavor. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned.
