I paid $20 for a bankruptcy consultation and left feeling like I received almost no value from it. The phone call lasted only a few minutes, and very few questions were asked about my financial situation. As someone exploring bankruptcy for the first time, I expected the consultation to be more informative and guided. Instead, I felt like I was expected to know exactly what questions to ask, which defeats the purpose of seeking a consultation in the first place. One of the main reasons I contacted this firm was because their website suggests they assist with student loan issues. Unfortunately, I left the consultation without receiving any meaningful guidance on that topic or on my overall financial situation. What made the experience more disappointing was that I later had a consultation with another bankruptcy firm that lasted about 45 minutes. They took the time to understand my circumstances, explain my options, and answer questions I didn't even know to ask. The difference was night and day. When I requested a refund, it was denied. While I understand they have a nonrefundable policy, I do not believe the service I received justified the fee. I requested for female only services, since they are advertised as women owned. A man called me, the "manager", her husband, and he was SO RUDE. He had no idea what he was talking about, made speculations about disability accounts that he was completely wrong about. Then when I said this is why I wanted a woman, he hung up the phone on me. My consultation call with Kerry Carmeron lasted 1 minute today, Friday, April 5th with him starting the conversation with "I can't talk wtih you very long, maybe a few minutes becuase you're still being represented by an attorney" to which I did stutter as I was confused about his opening and replied "I'm sorry, but I don't currently have an attorney". He then asked in a slightly accusatory tone, "you didn't file a bankrutpcy in CA?" and I said "I'm sorry, what?" as the connection broke when he was talking so he repeated the question and I said, no - we did have an attorney but we no longer have an attorney as our case (in CA) was dismissed. Kerry than asked me, "Are you sure?" I was then slightly offended and said "yes, I'm sure." however, at this point of the discussion, I felt uncomfortable as I didn't feel that he cared. I felt like in asking me "are you sure" in the tone he did, that I didn't know what I was talking about (RE my comment of the dismissal). After telling Kerry that I was sure RE my dismissal, he asked me what questions I had for him and that threw me off guard as well, and I paused to get my thoughts together as the entire less than 1 minute discussion lacked warmth, compassion and a genuine desire to get to know me before delving into "what questions do you have for me", especially after providing a very detailed summary on his online portal of our situation and then responding to his questions. After a slight pause and trying to get my thoughts and feelings together while managing my extreme uncomfortableness of the call, I then said that I didn't feel this was a fit for me and he said "Ok see ya"...I didn't think I heard him right and said "I'm sorry - what did you say?" And he said, "ok, see ya". I then shared with him that I was suprised that was his response and mentioned that I didn't feel he cared to which he said he did care, and that he didn't like the way I was speaking...and then hung up on me. Kerry - I told you on our "consultation" call that our bankruptcy in CA was dissolved and rather than asking me exploratory questions (such as what date was the bankruptcy dissolved) vs the accusatory "are you sure" resonse that you asked me twice, the date of our CA bankrutpcy dissolvement WAS included in the questions you ask on your consultment portal - after our call, I went back to the email confirmation of our consultation that had all your questions and my responses to confirm that I had provided the dismissal date...and as I told you, I did provide the dismissal date. Additionally, I also shared in my very detailed response, what I was looking for in seeking out another bankruptcy attorney in NC hence my surprise when you opened our discussion with "What questions do you have?" I felt like you didn't take the time to read what I had taken the time to write out on your consultation form - in fact, if you read my responses, you'll see I provided very specific details of our situatoin, dates, names, etc. that should have provided you with a very clear understanding of what my questisons were and if my CA bankruptcy was dissolved, and rather than leading with something like "after reading the information you provided..." you instead led with accusatory and an unfriendly tone...espeically more so after my hesitatant responses back to your questions. That said, my hesitatnt responses to you were based out of confusion, surprise and a little bit of being on the offense after being asked "are you sure" RE the dismissal - I even apologized to you saying "I apologize if I didn't include the date" after you told me that I didn't include it in my responses to your consultation quetsions. Banktrupcy is a sensitive and personal experience that takes something away from people who are in this situation and there shouldn't be any judgement or attitude when approaching the discussion with anyone. I have never in my life written a negative review however, I was shaking after you hung up on me and wanted to make the time to write this review so that others who are in the same position as I am, looking for someone to trust, to lean on and to provide guidance in a time of need, has a full understanding of both positive and negative experiences you and your firm provide so that they can make an educated decision for themselves. You are NOT the embodiment of the hospitality of North Carolina I have come to know in the short time I have lived here, and am thankful that you showed me your true personality in less than 1 minute - as another reviewer shared, of someone who doesn't seem to care and I'm glad I cared enough to write this reivew of my experience, so that perhpas there is something that can be learned from my review, which given my experience on our call on how you reacted when I shared my feelings with you, I suspect you'll react to emotionally, rather than intelligently. read more

They were patient with me, and explained everything, which took the mystery out of the process. Do not hire this attorney. This is is a couple who claim to practice law but all they do is take your money and give you bad advice. They meet you at Starbucks which is shady to begin with. Never once were they on time for any of the meetings. They took over a month to actually file the paperwork. Then they pushed for me to file a Chapter 7 and when a snag came up, they back peddled and said that they never said to go that route. Then when I needed to get it converted, they got all defensive because they know that they were in the wrong. They then sent the paperwork to convert, and never told me to overnight it. The were unprofessional every step of the way and were very incompetent. Do not trust your finances to this "attorney". read more
