Really disappointed in my experience yesterday. I had not been shooting in quite some time and went in with my husband. We ended up having to renew range cards and watch a video, not a big deal except the 2 customer service people at front desk were not friendly (no eye contact or smiles). Acted like serving us was a bother. Finally entered range and began shooting our targets. I made a mistake where one shot went down range when thought the gun was jammed. The range employee, asked me to walk outside to talk and insisted my husband join us. I am a grown woman and think his need to "tell" my husband was uncalled for... He then proceeded to tell me what I did wrong "finger on trigger" which I knew. He said things like at least you admit it, and his attitude felt very demeaning. There are ways to give positive,constructive criticism and that was hard to take and humiliating. Held it together because I didn't want to ruin the short time I have with my husband. Definitely the worst shooting experience there. I hope VPs read reviews and realize some customer service training is greatly needed. PS. The range staffer also put his hands on my gun when my husband and I were packing up. Rules state you do NOT touch someone's equipment without permission. Why would he think that is okay??? Today was my first time shooting a gun and I'm glad I choose to do it at Triangle shooting academy. Everybody was extremely nice and knowledgeable about the procedure and safety measures I needed to follow. Mike Gilmore taught me how to load, hold, fire, and empty the gun in 15 minutes. I was professionally training with my AR15 on their indoor range and got asked by the range safety officer standing behind me "people with that kind of rifle who shoot like that usually go to shoot up schools, is that what you're gonna go do? shoot up a school?" I'm over 30 years old, not in school, and trained in the armed forces. Not sure why he decided to approach me like that unless he was simply profiling a white male with a clean haircut and professional attire? He then took my rifle out of my hands while unsafetied + cocked ready to fire. In fact I was mid magazine while he interrupted me. After returning my firearm while pointing it at my legs. I secured it.. safely disassembled, packed up and left. Never will return. Don't recommend unless you're up for casual laughing about shooting up schools by their supposed trained range 'safety' officers. read more

This is my first time shooting in years. I was accompanied by a lifelong friend who is an expert with handguns. After I reviewed the safety video and signed the range waiver, he also instructed me in some basics prior to entering the range ... where it is quite loud and hearing protection makes it difficult to hear others speak. Full disclosure: before taking my first shot, I inadvertently raised my dominant hand thumb to a position where it was behind the (now closed) slide. Before I can blink one of the range safety officer's came over and stopped me from doing anything else. I am humbly grateful for his actions because had I fired it could have literally torn my thumb off. I'm a serious classical guitar student and this would've been tragic. At that point my friend and I stopped and another range safety officer came over with an orange plastic practice model handgun. The three of us worked on my hand position/grip until it was correct and I could fire safely and accurately. All this to say that sometimes range safety officers have to act quickly and brusquely to save someone from injuring themselves severely, or someone else. I deeply appreciate this man's actions even though he was very forceful at first. There is basically zero margin of error when dealing with firearms. Bottom line, I trust Triangle Shooting Academy staff and after returning home I signed up for one of their upcoming concealed carry courses. read more

Before today, I have never shot or really handled a gun in my life. Although I was the only person in the class who had never handled a gun, I felt totally supported. I went to the concealed carry class and was able to get my certificate, hitting 35 out of the 40 required target shots. Tom B and Jose were awesome. The one day class is long, but it's all vital information. Having the café there for lunch was very convenient and the food was actually very good. Tasted homemade. Tom gave me some individual instruction briefly before it was time to shoot, probably about five minutes, but enough to get me comfortable enough to test. And then they were right there, close if you needed anything. Just an excellent experience all around! I will definitely go back for the defensive pistol classes and also for range practice. I am a firm believer in ongoing training and practice. I went from having a fear of guns to a very healthy respect for them in one day. My father was a retired police officer, and although we had guns in our home, I still had a fear of them growing up. And I must admit that I was one of those curious kids who used to pick his gun up and mess with it even when he told me not to. Thank God nothing ever happened to me or anyone else! read more

It was really fun. I love shooting ranges. This place is top notch. Even had a cafe to get some eats while you wait. The only thing I didn't like was we had to pay $15 for a membership just to go in and use the range. Then they charge for ear protection, eye protection and targets. It was kinda pricey once you do all that for two people it was over $100. Now that I have the membership that is good for one year I will come here again if I'm in the area. read more

My husband and I usually go to the range at least once a month and Triangle Shooting Academy is the first and only place that we go to. On your first visit, they have a form that you have to fill out which can be done online at home prior to arriving or they have tablets available to fill out the form on site. They also have a range safety video to view that can also be viewed online at home prior to arriving or they have a room in which they show the video to first timers or to those renewing their annual range card. The range card is $15 and is valid for 1 year. This card allows you access to use the facility. The parking lot is sizable and when we go, it is usually always steady but we never have to wait to use a lane. The staff is friendly and welcoming from the time you enter the facility until the time you leave. The range officers are always so nice and helpful. They also have the option to rent firearms if you would like as well as purchase firearms and purchase a variety of accessories. Although they can be busy at times, they have enough staff and they are always willing and available to help customers. read more

MASK NAZI's here! I have severe anxiety and panic attacks when wearing a mask. However I do have a mask that allows me to breath a little easier. I walked in today to purchase some 12 Gauge ammo and I was stopped at the door. They said I could not come into the store with the mask I was wearing. I informed them that have wore this mask in government buildings, ABC stores, DMV and pretty much everywhere without anyone turning me away. I asked to speak to a manager (which also was ready to physically confront me) and I was asked to leave if I did not put on one of their masks. I would have NEVER thought that any gun store would be this strict about a mask that has been approved everywhere else. My business will be going to Mace Sporting goods in Mebane from now on!! read more

I recently attended two training classes at Triangle Shooting Academy (TSA) The first was Concealed Carry License (CCL) class and the second was Intro to the AR-15. Both classes were outstanding. The CCL class (12/6/2021) was 8-9 hours covering everything from legal aspects such as (1) situations covering when and where you are and are not allowed to use lethal force, (2) the many criminal and civil law ramifications of using lethal force and (3) basic concealed gun safety, etc. We also spent 1-2 hours of range time. You have to pass a written test and a shooting test to pass. As long as you pay attention, every person in the class will pass. The instructors were absolutely fantastic. I took a class from another company seven years ago from a local company and there was no comparison to this class. This class at Triangle was superior in every way. This training, while condensed in comparison, but was as good as or better than the police gun training I took 25 years ago when I went through the police training 40 hour gun course in Illinois to become an officer. There were four instructors for this class which provided lots of opportunity for one on one time and to answer side questions. The Intro to the AR-15 class (1/6/2022) consisted of 3.5 hours of class time and 1 hour of time in the range. The class covers the operation of the AR-15, what each part of the AR-15 is used for, and many drills on tearing it down, and reassembling. For any new AR-15 owner who doesn't have a strong mentor/trainer to help them, this class should be mandatory. Interesting observation, the average age of the 22 students in the class was probably 53-57 years old. It was a mix of mostly men and a few women and was ethnically diverse. People attending the class were mature individuals who were either looking for a new hobby or wanted to master a new weapon. There were no young, gung ho, unsafe, immature individuals in the class. Again, the instructors were patient professionals who knew the AR platform inside and out. There were four instructors so there was plenty of one on one time when necessary. As far as the Gun Smith at TSA, wow! He's excellent. The armorers are both nice and willing to help as well. They have went above and beyond many times helping me with issues and gun questions, and have never charged me extra for the help! When they first opened TSA a few years ago the vibe wasn't good for me. People that worked there were not nice, helpful or welcoming and the atmosphere gave me some anxiety when I walked in the door. They have completely changed that. Today, the entire staff is friendly, smiling, and will go out of their way to assist customers, spending as much time as necessary to provide what is needed. Here are some first timer tips: Yes, it will cost you a one time $15 to register with them. $20 For the first person per hour, $15 for the second so long as you share a lane. Allow extra time to fill out the waiver and watch the safety video. Save time by doing the waiver online. Link is on their website. NO NON-BRASS AMMO! So spend the extra money and buy your CCI Blazer brass online instead of the super cheap TulAmmo, because only brass cased ammo is allowed. Super clean, friendly staff, Range Safety officer was a super nice older gentleman who ran me and my guest through the interface for the lane target control system. An hour may not sound like a long time, but it was the perfect amount of time. Almost a little too long for a first time shooter or someone who is out of practice. Last, but definitely not least, do yourself a favor and get to know Scott who runs the cafe. Super great guy. He's genuinely proud of the food he and his family put out. For example, they bake their own bread, and even make their own honey mustard. They do catering professionally, and have been for over 20 years. You don't survive a cut throat business like that without some serious skills. I had the chicken tenders. It was two of the biggest, juiciest tenders I've ever had. It was like two whole chicken breasts! Seriously NOT your standard, bar/pub/bowling alley fare. I would come here just to eat! Will definitely come back to shoot, eat and relax. read more

This is the best range in the Triangle, in my opinion. Visited on a Saturday and expected to wait, being a first time customer, and with the amount of cars in the parking lot. However, I was greeted at the door, walked through the sign in process and watching the required safety video in about 10 minutes from arrival. After the video, I checked in with the range crew and was in my stall with no wait at all. The facility appeared to have at least 30 stalls (I'm sure their website lists an actual number). Targets were only 1.50 each and the hour rental was $20. Very affordable compared to the competition locally. Each bay had digital controls with timers and adjustable yardages. There is a good retail space there as well with a snack bar, televisions, and the ability to view shooters as they are in the range stalls. Staff was thorough, professional, friendly, and safety oriented. I'll be a long time customer here! read more

This sucks.... I hate to have to write this, however..... This facility shows in MANY ways their level Of professionalism. This is by far the Cadillac of shooting ranges in the area. Prices are jacked WAY up (the Heckler and Koch VP-9 we have been looking at, and were going to buy, was $150 more than the highest price we found elsewhere, $790), and their CCH class was $110/person. While it was an amazing class, this topped it all. NEVER, EVER, should an employee of ANY facility that deals with the public, give their opinion and INSTRUCT the class who they should and should not vote for as president this election season. You never know who you are around, what your students do behind their own doors, and to think that everyone in your presence should believe the way you do.... And you are NOT EVEN AN OWNER??? Sorry..... You lost these guys (guys, not just GAYS), and all the other "guys" we know, and our advocates, because of your rhetoric. I will continue to share my experience. There are places just as good in the Triangle, and hopefully they will be more professional in their approach during this very important election season. read more

Good place to go for some fun with guns. It's located in the Brier Creek area, but it's in a quiet area a bit beyond the bustling retail plazas. Been there by myself, and a group of mostly first-timers and enjoyed it each time. Compared to other ranges in the Triangle, this place is more expensive, but the facilities are newer and better. They have a large number of lanes, so even during busy times on the weekends the wait time is not that long. They'll be even bigger when they finish building their next phase. Large selection of firearms for rent (handguns, semi-auto rifles and automatic weapons), and reasonable ammo prices. Range officers are friendly and happy to provide help. My first point would be that they do not allow concealed carry permit holders to have their loaded weapons inside the store holstered or otherwise. This is an unwelcoming atmosphere to the gun owner. Secondly their staff is extremely rude, condescending and arrogant. Nice facility, could be a great place, but I will never give them any of my business. I've visited Triangle Shooting Academy many times dating back to 2017, and over that time I keep coming to the conclusion that despite the glitz and glamour, the big shiny shop, and what, on the surface, would appear to be the abundance of range bays (they're rarely staffed adequately to allow for the usage of their space, seeming to prefer excessive wait times) this establishment somehow manages to deliver an experience which adds up to be less than the sum of its various parts. I'll start with the most recent experience, as that is the one that prompted me, after all these years of giving them a chance to "find their groove", to write this review. On Wednesday, November 23rd I spoke with Sig Sauer customer care regarding my frustrations in the search for an MCX Virtus. After a long (and very informative discussion) which touched on everything from manufacturing capacity and supply chain logistics, to pending/prospective government legislation, the gentleman I spoke to mentioned that: "any dealer can order directly from them (Sig Sauer)". With that in mind on Friday, December 4, 2020, I called Triangle Shooting Academy (who tout their status as a "Sig Elite Dealer") with the intent of giving them $2,000+ in the hopes that they would be so kind as to place that order for me... how foolish of me thinking that. I was told by the lady I spoke with that "we don't do that". When I mentioned to her that I had spoken to Sig Sauer and was told that dealers can place orders (so that she knew that I had done my homework thus giving her the chance to reconsider), and then asking her to clarify if she was saying "we CANNOT do that" or "we WILL NOT do that", without missing a beat she abruptly confirmed it was the latter. I even offered to pay in advance for the rifle, but yet again my business was turned away. Elite dealer indeed. It would seem that the only thing "Elite" about Triangle Shooting Academy is their ability to turn away customers business...in that category they truly are in a class all their own. I immediately called another local gun shop who was not only friendlier, but already had a sizable order placed with Sig Sauer (not sure whether they're "Elite" or not, but by now I'm hoping as you read this you'll see that counts for almost nothing anyway) and were happy to take my information and let me know when the shipment arrived (fully disclosing that might be 3-4 months). Guess where I'll be spending my $2,000+ now? (Hint: it's not Triangle Shooting Academy). Sadly this is just one of the subpar experiences I've had at Triangle. Whether it's trying to buy something, or just a simple range trip, I have never managed walk away saying to myself: "wow what a great experience, I can't wait to return". What good is having a big new building if it's not well stocked? What good is having 30 lanes (or 3,000 for that matter) if you only open 10 at any given time? A business is like a car, it's the sum of its components, working together towards what the driver perceives as the overall experience...and in that regard Triangle Shooting Academy is very much like a broken down car with a fiberglass exterior painted to look like a Ferrari, you walk in expecting something, you walk away disappointed. read more
