I've taken a few classes here so far and always leave feeling amazing! The instructors have been consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive each time. The small class size is a big plus, as it allows for more opportunities to receive individual corrections. Everything from the reformers and props to the studio itself are clean and well maintained. I would recommend giving yourself extra time for parking in the evenings since the metered spots tend to fill up. There is nearby parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, but it's permit only after 6pm. read more

I sent an email asking for information about a total beginner class. I was advised to take the Feel Good Flow class. I arrived early to let the instructor know, but was left on my own with very little guidance. I tried to just follow along, however, I injured my back. I think they should either have an introduction class for total beginners or suggest a private class otherwise you're going to end up not feeling great. read more

Honestly I was hesitant about this studio at first. I'm a total beginner and I was super intimidated about starting pilates as I wouldn't consider myself an athletic person by any means. My first feel good flow was super intense and I felt like throwing up towards the end (but this was on me for not knowing my limit!) I went to a second feel good flow with Savannah! Absolutely the sweetest and she made the pilates class feel super inviting and welcoming. She helped me a few times throughout the class and helped explain some beginner things! My first reformer experience ever was at a Jump and Reform class with Emily. Having done a lot of mat pilates in the past, the class was definitely manageable, though Emily was wonderful and came over to help a few times when I was doing moves incorrectly. Jump and reform is a unique experience that incorporates elements of cardio. Portions of the class almost felt like a barworks class on my back. Already feeling a bit sore, which goes to show the impact of the workout! The studio is nice, well maintained, and clean. I have been coming to this studio since February. I was a total beginner and very nervous to start. But my experience here has been incredible. I go 3-4 times a week and have had multiple instructors. All of them great in their own teaching style. And the environment from the other people in class is great and I've never felt intimidated uncomfortable. All types of people are in the classes from super fit to older to beginners like myself. The pricing is very fair for the SM area, easy to get to, and any time I have needed to reach out to the owners for any issue they are extremely responsive and helpful. I downloaded this app just for this review. First, I'd like to say that the instructors are lovely. Absolutely wonderful. You'll always get a good workout after each session. However, their website/payment system needs serious fixing. I originally payed for the one month special and, at the time, I was unaware that it was an automatic payment plan-- they make no mention of the membership being automatic plan on anywhere else BUT the terms of conditions. Of course they know that people are less likely to check the TOS, so they capitalize on that. When my card was charged for another month, I logged in to the site to cancel. There's not an option to cancel on the site so you need to call, leave a voicemail (they don't pick up the first time), and wait for a call back. The same way I payed for a membership, I should be able to cancel. But, they make it extra tedious for one to do so. Anywho, I get a call back and the person allegedly canceled my membership. Great. The following month, I get charged yet again for the membership. At this point, it has become a hassle to get rid of them. I log on to the site and attempt to delete my bank information but they do not allow you to delete it. It stores it. I call, yet again, to cancel and to have my account deleted. I receive a call back and, hopefully, I don't have to deal with this ever again. read more

Such an awesome studio! It is super clean and beautifully decorated - very warm and welcoming. I used to be a die-hard lagree method freak (almost 10yrs) and then I realized late last year that my body is changing and I need to incorporate a different style of pilates....and that is when I discovered this little gem! I have only been able to take class with a few of the instructors but I have liked every single one of them. I like the variety of classes offered - "fully body ignite" is perfect for a challenging sequence and then "feel good flow" is perfect for those days you want to take it easy but still get a good workout in. The machines and other equipment are in great condition. Parking in the area doesn't seem to be an issue - there is always street parking available on the street or parking in the neighbor side streets (just be careful to read the parking signs). I really like Emily and Sami (very clear instructions and amazing sequencing) - I can't wait to try classes with the rest of the instructors. I highly recommend this studio! read more

I live in the neighborhood and thought I would give Pilates reformer a try. I bought the intro offer 3 classes for $50. Monday I took transform level 1 and today I took the booty and stems class. Transform level 1 the instructor gave very clear instructions as I am a newbie I really appreciated her patience! Booty and stems I felt very challenged but in a safe and effective way. As good as it gets! I'm hooked! I moved to Santa Monica in February just a few blocks from this gorgeous new studio, and the best thing that happened since is Tribe's opening! Emily and Kris are attentive and friendly owners, and the instruction ensures safe and proper alignment to prevent injury while also kicking serious a**. The instructors are the best in town, and the studio is immaculately clean and smells amazing of essential oils. The Balanced Body machines and props are kept in perfect shape, and the class repertoire varies so it never gets boring. I'd recommend trying all of the classes (Jump and Reform, Arms and Abs, Booty and Stems, Level 1 and 2), and check them all out! You will love it, and get individualized corrections and advice being that they don't over-pack the studios with reformers (there are only eight of them!) I have been going to classes for over a month now at Tribe pilates. It's a great place to get the workout done and also to stop and pause to focus on your mind and body. I've had an ongoing lower back issue from a car accident, and Tribe Pilates is really helping get me back into it. Every instructor has been empathetic, knowledgeable, and helpful offering modifications etc. Personally, I've found pilates to help more than physical therapy or acupuncture, and it's lessened pain in my shoulders as well. I should give the disclaimer that I came in with almost a year of physical therapy and a pretty good idea of what I needed/needed to avoid, so I could be a responsible client. Just had my first session here with Emily and I could not be more happy! I'm postpartum 2 1/2 months and have been doing cardio at the gym weekly but have struggled to figure out the right exercises to strengthen my core again. Emily was so patient with me as I'm a total beginner at Pilates reformer. She gave me the best workout I've had in sooo long! I left shaking, feeling amazing, and strong again. I love everything about this place! I signed up with classpass and tried almost dozen pilates studios on the west side and none of the places compare to Tribe Pilates. The instructors are amazing and all offer different experiences. The space is modern, refresh, and has a relaxing atmosphere. Most importantly the workout is amazing. After each workout session I walk out knowing I pushed my body little more. I practiced Hatha Yoga for 3 years, moved to Bikram yoga for 8 years, then decided to do kickboxing for 3 years. I've been doing martial arts and power lifting/functional training for most of my life and Emily never fails to safely challenge my skills.
