This studio specializes in athletic Pilates, with extensive options of reformer, TRX, mat, heated, Cadillac and chair Pilates, making it perfect for Pilates practitioners of different experience levels and preferences! The teachers I've taken classes with are all super sweet, with DEEP knowledge of body physiology and traditional Pilates principles. You can definitely tell that their training program is VERY vigorous from the quality of their teachers, and I've always felt very supported and accommodated when it came to the teachers understanding my personal needs, injuries, and capabilities. Pilatesmith has improved my Pilates practice significantly, and I've learned SO much about my own body and how to protect myself from injuries since I've joined this community. The overall workout is a bit more intense than traditional pilates, but you can definitely modify. The instructors are also all very supportive and motivating. The studio is also very clean and well maintained. Another plus (that I haven't seen anywhere else) is that they offer towels during your session free of charge. Other tips: there is metered parking on the street, cubbies, a water dispenser, and a bathroom. I am hooked, and can't wait to get in to try more classes!

They also have plenty of cubbies for you to store your belongings and infrared saunas available for purchase. I have taken classes with various instructors at each of the 3 studios. I found that although they all have different styles of teaching, they are all challenging yet enjoyable. They are not unreasonably challenging and will offer modifications as needed. Most instructors do most of the workout with you, especially in mat pilates, and are great with hands-on correction. They also really know how to incorporate props such as the ball, ankle weights, hand weights, etc. into the workout. By far, one of my favorite pilates studios in West LA!

Going to pilates has been cheaper and more fun than physical therapy, that's for sure! I thought I would never be one of "those people" who did reformer pilates, but I am a convert. I like that the classes are only 45 minutes, it turns out you can do a lot of strength training in that time. All of the teachers are wonderful and supportive. I love all of them. They also agreed to support my son's elementary school PTA by donating several starter packs (thank you Renee!) to our silent auction. I bring the cost of attending through Classpass and the upfront purchase of a 20-class pack, which enables me to go between 6-8 times a month. Getting there: I walk, occasionally I drive (there is parking in front on Wilshire and in the back). I try to bike, since that involves cardio. When I do, I bring my bike inside the studio. Lastly I don't know how they do it, but the studio always smells wonderful and comforting.
