After several emails and phone conversations, they now tell me they need to replace cross bar attached to my house,($400), and the labor is 6-8 hours or $1850, about a third of what I paid for it only 2 years ago!! Sent them an email communicating my displeasure, and never heard back. Either the install wasn't done correctly, or it wasn't designed to work reliably. Would not recommend them.

Called again. Came end of October. Said board was cracked. Came to replace board November 19. Closed up for the winter. Opened in the spring and within a week was tilted again. Came on April 23 and said something bent. Came June 10 to fix. The 3 servicemen said they didn't have enough workers with them and they did not have the correct size replacement piece. They took the awning with them and are bringing back to the shop. Maybe will be back in a week. Insinuated multiple times over the phone that we broke the awning and said they were doing a courtesy by not charging for repairs! From the installation at the end of August to today, June 10, the awning has never been hanging correctly. They are scheduled to return on June 18- Over 9 months !

In 2004, I needed a small awning over a back porch at a different home, and because of my previous experiences, I called them to do that install. Each time, I was completely satisfied with their work, installers and pricing. It may or may not make a difference to anyone reading this review that I have done a bit of contracting work as a "house-flipper", so have both a fair amount of knowledge and understanding of contractors. While this does not describe my experience with Metro, sometimes contractors drop the ball...they respond slowly or fail to call back. I generally give someone a 2nd chance, but after that...I move along. I have had good experiences, and while I am sure there are other reputable awning companies out there, I see no reason to "re-invent the wheel" and try some unknown entity when it comes to awnings in the future. As a matter of fact, I just referred them to a roofing contractor friend, which is what brought me to their site and prompted this review.

He then quoted me half of what the first company did and did the job a couple of weeks later. Mike showed up with his workers the day of the job and explained everything to me as they did the job. They seemed very knowledgeable and obviously have been doing this work for many years. The job was very clean, no corners were cut, and they seemed to enjoy the back breaking work. I hope I never need them again but if I do I would not hesitate to call or recommend them. What was refreshing also was that Mike seemed like a very honest person and his pricing was very good while at the same time not cutting any corners.
