The service was really nice. We had 2 or 3 people come check on us which I appreciated as everyone was pretty busy it was nice to have multiple people making sure we were good. The food menu is very sparse so don't come here to get full -- it's more of finger foods and lite bites. NOT dinner. They have a full alcohol menu. The food menu is primarily why I gave it 4 stars, but I would come again for a cocktail and to mingle perhaps. The Buns were flavorful. I was a big fan of the texture of the meat. Two bars - one in the back by the elevator and one on the other side that faces the beach. There is a ledge type area that allows for more people to stand to look at the beach/sunset. We were told it's best to order your drink/food at the bar and then go sit down to have it brought out to you. Food menu is limited and pricey. We got a crab cake and samba waves (cowboy caviar type dip with wantons). The food was excellent, fresh and good portion size. While waiting outside (for no real reason, since it was empty), we chatted with a party of six who came straight from Ash (the sister restaurant upstairs). They'd just spent over $1,000 on their meal and were still getting charged a cover to enter Alter Ego. That's poor business, don't force extra fees to guarantee money when good music, drinks, and vibes should bring people in naturally and make them want to spend. There's plenty of places on Water Street with great (and I'd say better) cocktails where you're not forced into minimums or covers. The Christmas cocktail menu was disappointing too, poor selections and way too sugary.
