Even sitting outside in the heat, the atmosphere is outstaning on the river. We had a great meal with 6 of us, the Grouper was excellent, the Shrimp was very fresh and great. Who would eat a chili dog in june, but we had a crazy person that loved it. The Service was top notch and having Live Music made took the meal to another level, Singing along and guesing who wrote the tune. So Jerry Dockside, Keep it up. Visited Jerry's this weekend for the first time, since Tiki Docks was too packed we needed to try something new! Jerry's is a fun, chill, local place directly on the river. They have all outside seating and a small inside area. They did have live music as well! It's very casual and not very fancy by any means, definitely a nice local place. The beer was cheap and the food was good! I had the Philly which was great. Our friends had the grouper sandwich and unfortunately it was fishy and not fresh tasting. I would not recommend the fish here, but everything else was good! Service was nice as well. For the ambiance alone I would come back to listen to some music and chill right on the water! read more

This used to be my favorite place, back when it was AJ's on the River, the burger lineup was amazing, and the parking lot was gravel. A little off the beaten path, you'll wonder if you're even headed to the right place as you drive through a residential neighborhood. It's still ok. The location is still perfect, right on the water. The music is still good. The service is still friendly and quick. I had the jalapeno popper burger. It was perfectly spicy and the toppings were perfect. BUT... They've added an extra patty to all the burgers. It doesn't make them better. I don't know how to explain it, but the burgers were so much better as singles. My daughter even took one patty off her burger so she could enjoy it more. The price didn't increase by much, so I'm not sure why they decided to double the beef, but it was... Unnecessary. They messed with perfection. And my favorite Alafia Burger is no more! If it's your first time here, you'll probably love it. What is on the menu, is pretty good. If alcohol is your thing, I heard the table next to us complaining that the cocktails are wine based. Pro tip is coke and lemonade have free refills, all other sodas are in cans. read more

My husband had the pulled pork and I had the steak burger. He said the pork was very good. My burger was dry but had good flavor. This is a very out of the way independently owned spot on the river... it has tables outside, but under cover... you can boat up and hang out, or drive and park in their lot... is at the end of a residential street The food was delicious...nachos, Cuban sandwich and Monterey chicken sandwich... the portions were generous and the food was better than expected! We rode our motorcycles up here not knowing what to expect - can I just say the setting on the water is beautiful, we had a great server Joe - super friendly, great service, just great everything. On the way to the restaurant, my wife was reading more about it and discovered that it had been on Bar Rescue in the Spring of 2022. This increased our interest in going even more, as we've seen a few episodes so thought it would be great to actually be in a bar after the Rescue. Driving there does get you wondering a bit whether you are on the right path though, as you drive through a very residential area to find the restaurant at the end of the street along the river. We started with a round of local beers and Harbor Fog (see picture) drinks and found them each to be good. For our meals, my wife ordered the Dockside Cuban (see picture), my son ordered the Steakhouse Burger (see picture) and I ordered the Grouper Tacos (see picture) - the tacos on the recommendation of Shelby our server who was great! As we always do, we shared tastes of each others orders to see what we thought. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from the food, as some of the reviews as well as the Bar Rescue excerpts we read spoke of a 'friends and family' staff - with the primary cook never having been a cook / chef in a restaurant before. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality each of the dishes though - finding their quality well above the average bar food. First time at Jerry's today for lunch and we sat outside just off the dock so we could watch the boats pass by. We ordered the Jerry's Classic Burger ($11.95), the Outlaw Burger ($14.95) and the Goat Cheese burger($14.95) We ordered sides of Coke slaw, potato chips and potato salad. We also ordered a drink called The Lifeguard which was quite tasty. This is a casual seat yourself establishment and this afternoon there was live entertainment which was great. This was our first time at Jerry's Dockside and I can say we will definitely be back. It's was nice for us and the kids. We got a flatbread for starters, it's pretty much a thin crust pizza the flavor is okay the sauce could be better but the kids enjoyed it. Now the bacon cheeseburger was good a little over cooked and needed more seasoning but the bacon was crisp. Would try again . Now the star of the show was the Blackened Grouper Sandwich oh my goodness... it's tasted amazing the seasoning was perfect and the size highly recommend! read more

My husband and I had date night every Tuesday at Jerry's for years. You can't beat the simply gorgeous views of the Alafia. The food is great but the service and the people are even better. Ben Meyers (the Tuesday night entertainer) is wonderful. Everyone is so welcoming! When my husband passed away, we wanted to celebrate his life there. Jerry's was so accommodating. Food was great. Beer was cold. Live music was too loud and depressing! Jim Garrrett's set did not fit the ambience of Jerrys. Needed a upbeat, chill out kind of vibe and Jim did not deliver. The volume alone was enough to cash out after our food was delivered. (Payton was exceptional) Tipsy German special was delicious. Jerrys Smash Burger was spot on. This was our first time at AJ's. We had tried to go a while ago but it was just too busy and crowded so we left. We stopped here after a long day at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City so we could get a drink and a bite to eat. No problem getting a seat on the deck outside and the one server we saw said she would send someone over right away. We waiting probably 10 minutes until that same server returned and asked if anyone had come out. Nope. She ended up serving us herself. Poor girl was running around serving the entire deck. We did see one other server and she seemed to be just handling one table. Their food menu is very limited. We opted to split a grouper sandwich. It was good - ok, not great. I had ordered a glass of wine and it didn't come. Our server apologized. I wasn't upset as I could see she was running around handling a ton of tables, but she could have used help. Great hidden restaurant in Gibsonton that is right on the Alafia River. As many people arrive by boat as car with plenty of dock slots. Seating is first come first serve. Get there early on the weekend, especially when the weather is nice. The sun sets right over the TECO Big Bend power plant, so nothing for a National Geographic calendar, but does add some character to the view as you can see in my photo taken from our table. Service could be better. Be prepared to have to go to the bar if you want your drinks in a timely manner. Most who come here are on relax time, so fine unless you are dying of thirst or it has been more than an hour since your last alcohol ran out. It took us roughly an hour before they took our meal orders. The drink options are limited. They had run out of my favorite apple cider, so the waitress recommended mango beer. I liked it, but after two the restaurant ran out of that too. Weird for a popular restaurant to be running out of drinks on a Saturday night. At that point I switched to sangria, which was average. Be prepared in that it appears their 'hard liquor' drinks may be wine based due to the type of liquor license they have. One in our party who ordered a long island iced tea pointed this out. They are known for their burgers, so I tried their fajita version. It comes with several options for sides including bag o' plain chips, potato salad and cole slaw. I tried the chips, which ended up being fine, but wished they had fries especially for $9.50. The burger was nicely grilled and the toppings were plentiful. They had live music for part of Saturday night. It wasn't too loud and the gentleman was good, playing covers from mostly the 70's. This was a nice touch. Bathrooms are a bit weird. The women's is inside the restaurant. Next to it is a 'captain's restroom' which is used by the women. I think this is the old men's room, with the hand-made sign indicating the men's rooms are outside and discovered they were side-by-side port-o-potties. Hmmmm, I waited until I got home. Overall a good experience for a laid back night with friends. read more

It's cheap and it gives " we really don't care just give us your money" The waitress we had was said "I'm tired" and said you guys need to put your order in now because we are about to close the kitchen... WOW.... We had been waiting on her to come back and take our order for 15mins!! The food was not gross but it was WOW... pretty basically they can't even make French fries you can get stale chips..
