We kept repeating our expected budget and as the drawing were being completed I was concerned we were way over budget. But we were told we may have to remove some features on the home but lets see how close to budget we are. When we put plans up for bid with several local contractors we were averaging $150,000.00 over budget. I was told the design was very pretty but expensive. The engineering was calling out for things a regular home didn't require. The concrete needed to be tested which even a county inspector told me that was not normal and I would be paying for these tests. So our experience was not a good one. We paid money for a house plan that is pretty but has no concept of a budget. And we decided to start all over with someone else that is good at listening to a budget and explaining what that budget will get you. We lost money and lost time who likes to lose that.
