The best first day of the rest of our lives together! My new bride and I traveled to Terceira with our family to get married. After searching Instagram for pictures of the island, we had stumbled across Juca's photographs. We immediately contacted him and begged him to be our photographer. He kindly agreed, although he had never done this before. He specializes in guided tours of archeological sites, photography tours, hiking, and food & wine. Juca was a true professional that has an unmatched passion for fine photography. Juca was incredible--his knowledge of the island was something you don't get with the other guides in Terceira. We have been there three times before and done multiple tours, but we will never book anyone but Juca again. He was funny, spoke perfect English and has a wealth of knowledge. By the end of the trip, he felt like family. He knows just the right places to eat and will take you to locations that are on no map. Believe me, I thought I knew every inch of the island, but every place he brought us to left us speechless. Trekking in our wedding attire is one of our favorite moments. Of course our ceremony is a day we never want to forget, and because of Juca, we won't. His pictures are such high quality I will probably look at them daily for the rest of my life in disbelief. While on the island, we also had the chance to meet his beautiful family and felt so at home with them, we invited them to our wedding reception as well. Marisa helped book meals and even sent us recipes for our favorite dishes. To say that they are the epitome of hospitality would be an understatement. I can not possibly recommend them enough. All I can say is book early and often. We will be heading back to the island as soon as we can and I can honestly say, Juca and Marisa will be the first people we reach out to. read more

My wife and I just came home from a trip to this beautiful island. This tour was absolutely my favorite part of our wonderful trip! If you come here, you have to take this tour! I have never taken a tour when traveling because I always thought that I should explore on my own and it isnt an authentic way to meet new people. I was so surprised! This is not a tour bus type of tour! Its so much more special! Juco will pick you up from wherever you are staying. It will just be you on the trip! He has hiked around the whole island and really know where the most beautiful spots are. He doesnt do this to just make money, he does it because he loves meeting new people and has so much pride in the beauty of his island. We had wonderful conversations while we walked around the island! You will love this tour....I promise! Oh and the views!!!! This island is so much more beautiful than the pictures you see online. Thanks to Juco and his sweet sweet wife, this has been my favorite vacation Ive been on! Oh, last thing....our flight was delayed. I emailed them to let them know we will arrive after a couple days later and will miss the tour. They emailed me back right away and offered to take us on the tour on Easter! Who does that! The best day of my vacation on Terceira, Azores was the photo tour that Juca took me on. I have loved photography for years and traveled around the world but have only begun shooting in manual mode. Juca and one other guest picked me up at my hotel pre-dawn and drove to a viewpoint overlooking the ocean and by twisting my body around 90 degrees saw a lighthouse. We were gifted with a double rainbow. That was just the beginning of the day! The day before this trip the forecast called for rain. As a photographer when it rains it is not good; the sky is gray and matches the ocean or pavement - does not make for good photographs. Juca said not to worry - he would show us it does not matter. And it didn't! We went into several caves, by a waterfall, and the Black Forest. At all times, Juca was very kind and patient with me explaining different functions of lighting with ISO vs F stop, etc. He is also very playful and fun to be around. This tour was from before sunrise to after sunset - this was the best money spent all week. When I come back, I will book another tour with him! read more
