I was so pleased with this hotel, I couldn't wait to write reviews about how amazing our whole experience was! I stayed at the Trilussa Palace Hotel in February 2012 because all the reviews I read about the various hotels in Rome, this one seemed to have the best prices for being a nice hotel in a great location. What I didn't know when I was booking this hotel is that they apparently have a brand new spa (called Moon Spa) that just opened at the beginning of the month. We were traveling with one other family and wanted to figure out something to do for the kids to have fun together while we can relax with the other parents and all have a good time. Once we saw the spa we immediately knew this would be perfect to be able to supervise the kids while we sat back, relaxed, and even joined in on the fun every once in a while ourselves. So when we first walked into the spa, you see a huge jacuzzi that's almost as big as a pool (and the pool/jacuzzi has lounge beds BUILT IN to the seats) and for on the wall above the pool/jacuzzi you can select different music videos to play on the speakers and the image projects onto the wall which the kids loved because there is a built in iPad with a selection of different music videos and if you have an iPhone, you can dock your phone to play your own music which the kids had a blast with. On that same wall if you don't want the image to show, you can also choose to have water streaming down the wall like a waterfall built into the wall. I suppose this is for a more romantic setting which we didn't get to take advantage of on this trip, but we will be sure to for the next trip. There is also a steam room where you can also customize the music and lighting inside there as well. Outside of the steam room there are lounge chairs where we were able to relax and talk while the kids were playing in the pool/jacuzzi and the staff even put a chilled bottle of champagne on ice for us. We couldn't believe how modern and accommodating the spa and the staff was. The best part about this whole experience is you make private reservations so the entire spa is yours for as long as you want the reservation to be. The beautiful spa made an already beautiful hotel that much better. We can't wait to come back to Rome and stay here and I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area!

We stayed here 5 days and loved it. Convenient, clean, and hospitable staff. Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, cable TV, handy smart phone ( smartphone that lets you make local and international calls for free, you can take it with you during your day trips for directions, reservations etc), US 110v plugs, powerful hair dryer, rooftop bar, spa, gym, safe in the room, clean comfortable beds. Breakfast spread and organic vegetable garden on the terrace is fantastic! Would definitely recommend this place..

This hotel is awesome!!! My first visit to Rome and I was so lucky to have found the Trilussa Palace Hotel on Hotels.com They are a short cab drive to all sites in Rome. 5 mins without traffic to the Vatican! Massimo drove us from the airport to the hotel in his shuttle. He was waiting for us with a sign where we retrieved our luggage from our flight. It was quite a relief to see his smiling and friendly face! He assisted with our bags and was parked very close by. He drove us to the airport on the way back. About a 40 min trip. The hotel staff at the front desk were gracious hosts and accommodating. Refined and professional. They arrange for airport transportation and there was always someone available to assist with questions we had. They also arranged our spa services and went out of their way to make sure we got the dates and times we needed. My cousin and I had two massages each. We reserved one hot tub room for 90 mins on another day. Their hotel pictures are very accurate to the actual site. Please see my pics! The room was very clean and they had someone come in daily to freshen it up. Also, a super high speed hair dryer. As an american a great hair dryer provided by any european hotel will get an extra star! There is a lovely lounge bar on the top floor. We had drinks and appetizers a few evenings. Prices are very fair. There are coffee and pastry shops in short walking distance and small convenience stores. A pharmacy about 3 blocks down in case you need cold medications or toiletries. We stayed in late Oct. when the weather is mild and similar to California weather. Less tourist that time of year! We visited all tourist spots and because we did guided tours we avoided long lines. Viator.com has all that info. I suggest arranging a tour for the Vatican or the lines will be very long. I also recommend doing a Red Bus tour at least one day. You can hop off and on. See the entire city all day if you want. I love Rome so much, and can't wait to return. I give this hotel 6 stars as they made me feel safe and comfortable. Grazie! Grazie!

If you are wanting to stay at a full-service, Hilton branded hotel property while in Rome without…read moregoing bankrupt doing so, The Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Rome Monti would be a solid choice. By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

After a few days the server didn't need to ask anymore he just brought me a cappuccino when I sat down. That is probably the biggest breakfast buffets I have ever seen. The downstairs spa was a bit small, but enjoyable nonetheless, with steam room, sauna, and simple hydrotherapy stations. It was a good location to see the Colosseum, and the Vatican. There's two parts to this hotel, including hotel rooms and also suites. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a very comfortable stay. They serve a complementary breakfast every morning, which was quite extensive and delicious! In the evenings before dinner, they do serve some appetizers and wine, almost like a "happy hour". If I ever return to Rome, definitely would like to stay in this hotel again. However, it is quietly nestled in a beautiful little neighborhood. It is very quiet and quaint. Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!
