Before my appointment, I messaged the salon owner and explained that I'm very nervous about getting haircuts because I've had a bad experience in the past. She reassured me that I would be in good hands with Cassandra. I also personally explained my concerns to Cassandra when I arrived. Unfortunately, the haircut I received was the worst haircut I've ever had. When I left, my hair was noticeably uneven all around. I was extremely upset because I had specifically communicated how anxious I was about my hair and trusted the salon to take care of me. During the appointment, Cassandra also suggested using a hot tool to place curls at the bottom of my hair so they would hold. I did not ask for this additional service, yet I was charged over $120 for the haircut and blow-dry. After I contacted the salon owner to explain that my haircut was completely uneven, I was offered the option of returning that same day so Cassandra could fix it. After having an experience like this, I was not comfortable going back to the same stylist or salon to have the haircut corrected. I declined and asked about receiving a refund. What disappointed me even more was how the situation was handled afterward. I was only offered a refund for the haircut and not the blow-dry service. As a stay-at-home mom with two little ones, I don't have an income of my own and rarely get the opportunity to take time away for myself. Spending over $120 on a haircut and blow-dry was already a significant expense for me. I then had to arrange childcare, spend additional money, and find another hairstylist to correct the haircut. This wasn't simply a haircut I didn't personally like. My hair was left visibly uneven, and I had to spend even more time and money having another professional fix it. I'm extremely disappointed not only with the haircut itself, but with how the salon owner handled my concerns afterward. I expected empathy and accountability, especially after I had made my anxiety about haircuts clear before my appointment. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend Granada Hair and Makeup to anyone looking for a haircut.

When I requested a full refund because the service was not performed as agreed, I was offered only a partial refund. The owner later called me and said that even this partial refund was a "favor" because they normally don't issue refunds. She also made a point of telling me that she has a legal education, which I found particularly surprising considering her apparent lack of understanding of basic consumer protection principles when a paid service is not delivered as agreed. Very disappointing service and an even more disappointing response to a legitimate customer complaint.

I was supposed to spend as little as possible to maximize the amount that I chose to come away with for my honeymoon. I interviewed literally 64 photographers and found up and coming stars. I was not willing to do this with makeup. Makeup is your face; it is how the world percieves you. Rachel finds a way to enhance features that you never new you had without getting garish or over abundant at all. She is simply the best makeup artist I have ever had. I said classy meets dramatic, and she worked out exactly what I wanted with minimal input on my part. I showed her a picture, and she was able to conform it to my features verbatim. Anyway, I learned my lesson about spending with the "Family Wedding Plan," and though I had to make a speech, a report, and a cost/balance analysis (seriously not joking), I still went through all that to retain Rachels services. Bottom line: Rachel is worth it. She gets the job done, and she leaves you feeling confidant in any event (well at least I would assume so considering I felt light as a feather on my wedding day). She also saved the day by finding a hair dresser for my 8 bridesmaids at 11:30PM when my hair person cancelled on us all for a ridiculous reason. I don't know if anyone reading this has been married before, but that is real stress, and she saved me by contacting her contacts in the makeup/hair community. She is wonderful--I looked perfect. She gave me some excuses about needing to mentally regroup from her "illness" (during which time she was able to post new ads on Craigslist daily, as well as update Twitter and Facebook regularly). She did return my deposit within 24 hours of telling me that she would, and only a month after I believe a responsible business person would have (the first Craigslist ad that she posted after my wedding THAT I SAW was only ten days after my wedding). But at least I finally got my money back.
