Bathrooms were a slight uphill walk from the site with running water, so so on cleanliness. Potable water were by each site maybe two sites per faucet. 138 is furthest from the entrance about 0.7 miles from the camp site entrance. $10 for wood bundle which you buy by the campsite entrance. A lovely camping weekend. Pretty private because the redwood trees block the view between sites and we were lucky that the neighboring sites were empty most of the weekend.

They have bathrooms available for campers as well that are very well kept and drinking water faucets throughout the site. There are plenty of little trails that give you access to the water, however at this point in time it is very low so it's more of a rocky hill side. But the view is still beautiful and it's possible to walk along if you're careful. Recommend for anyone, families with children included!

Ben created a fun and relaxed atmosphere void of any tight-ass guide power trips. A full day doesn't mean a full day of class III. The class III rapids are a blast but the stops at the N. Fork, the unreal waterfall hike, jump rock and plenty of swimming opportunities are an added bonus! Enjoy!

It was my daughter's 11th birthday, and I couldn't imagine having more fun doing something else. Our guide Glenn was awesome! He was fun and personable. He knew the river, kept us safe, and taught us what we needed to know. He brought lunch for us. He took us on a hike to a waterfall. He gave us opportunities to swim, jump off rocks and even taught my daughter how to steer the boat. We also got to witness a masterful backflip off the boat into the water by Glenn. Thanks Glenn for the EPIC trip and the great memories. If you don't use Trinity River Rafting as your guide, you're making a big mistake.

I don't often review campgrounds but so many people commented on specific sites and no one…read morecommented on Site 11, which is the one I booked this weekend so here you go future bookers: We were able to fit two single backpacking tents and two larger two person tents but both the official tent spot and our unofficial spot had notable, but tolerable slopes as noted multiple times in reviews. There is a parking spot for site 11 across the campground road near a pit toilet. Flush toilets are located on the other side of the parking lot, which is right next to site 10. Site 10 seemed like it had a nice lake view. You can see the lake through the trees from site 11. There are no bear boxes! You store food and toiletries in your car at night. Wing wildlife included mosquitoes (light), yellow jackets (heaviest mid morning), and very loud cicadas. My ears were ringing like I went to a loud concert. I have to assume that's seasonal. There's a "boat launch" past the flush toilets near the tent cabins that was nice for setting up a few camp chairs and entering the water in floaties. There were a few other beaches further on but they were full. There was a kerfuffle over an inflatable kayak while we were there so keep an eye on your things! The lake was shockingly not ice cold like many CA lakes I've been in but it was also 100 degrees out. We stayed in for hours. So nice! Intimate campground with sloped sites and nice lake access- overall a pleasant stay!

Some feedback on the campground: - The glamping site bed is super comfortable. We fell asleep instantly and got woken up next day by the morning sun. - The glamping sites are set up well, have enough space, each come with a fire pit, 2 plastic chairs, 2 wooden chairs, a full table + benches and a LED lantern. - The bathrooms at are clean, flush toilets. The ranger is re-stocking toilet paper daily. Big plus! - There are no showers at the campground. Good news is that you can simply take a swim in the lake :) - There's no cell phone reception (AT&T, at least) once you leave Redding. - This is a pretty small campground, which is really nice because you have a lot of space and it's not too crowded. As with any campground, it can still be noisy with kids or other neighbors that talk at night. You might want to bring earplugs if you don't fall asleep easily. To be…read moreclear, the campground is a short distance prior to the actual lake which has its own parking lot and trailheads. Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)

Trail was a steady incline for the most part and becomes very steep near the end. Furthermore, trail transitions from a wooded area to a rocky and exposed terrain. Stunning views of the nearby mountains and lakes at higher elevation! Heart Lake was actually referring to a small lake at the top. At the end of the hike, you get a heart shaped view of Castle Lake! That's fine, we were happy to abide by their policy, so our only option was to purchase another campsite for the sole purpose of parking the extra vehicle(s). We had booked for 2 nights and when we paid for the 2nd site, we unfortunately didn't notice that they only charged for one night, which apparently their policy for non-reservation sites is only one night, which they didn't tell us nor did they warn us to check out from the 2nd site by noon. We ended up getting two $71.50 parking citations for failing to remove our vehicles from the campsite by checkout time (noon). When I spoke with the staff regarding the misunderstanding and how we obviously intended to pay for 2 nights at the 2nd site, the same duration as our initial reservation, one staff member in particular had a very poor attitude even though we were being very polite and just trying to work with them and their policies.

The first night she confronted us about playing music too loud because it was disturbing other campers ( we were the only people around on that Thursday night ). Shook us down for the deposit in the dead of night. Repeatedly made racist and sexist remarks mid conversation about our group of friends to their significant others. Made homophobic comments in passing when a certain family arrived across from us. On our last night none of our members had realized the time and was in the showers. There's a sign at the door that says " cleaning 11:00 7:00 " When she came into the bathroom to clean, no words or warnings were exchanged. Patty passive aggressively cleaned around people smacking the mop against another woman's legs and opening a cabinet to shove someone out of the way. At no point did she say " excuse me I need something from here " or " hey guys it's 7 and I need you to leave " The woman that got smacked and shoved confronted her saying she didn't have to be rude, to which she replied " I can show you rude, I'm holding back " After the interaction we could hear patty going around to other campers pitting people against each other. Later that night patty randomly gifted us a plate of freshly baked cookies but after all that had happened we felt a bit uneasy

There is a cute little mom and pop coffee spot across from the chevron which is nice. There's also a thrift store in the next plaza which was convenient for some water shoes. I got two for the total of $5! The only reason I am giving it a two star is because of the host. I have never met someone so rude. She is racist, homophobic, and sexist. She does not communicate well and does not appreciate people's privacy. If she weren't at this site anymore, I would come back and recommend this place for sure.
