Jalapeño Honey: very spicy! Sweet and spicy honey can go with anything! From drizzling it over baked salmon at the last minutes of cooking to putting it on top of biscuits! Habanero honey: definitely more for people that can't take the heat, but just want a tid bit to satisfy their spicy craving! I will also definitely come back to try out their essential oil soap's because they smell so good and some of them actually even have raw honey in them. The owner and his wife own a farm and I love love love love that all their products are 100% natural. Owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable about his products and OMG I forgot to mention they even sell farm fresh eggs! They own different types of chicken so they look like Easter eggs because each egg looks different with patterns and colors! We bought the jalapeño jam and habanero raw honey today but we will definitely come back to try out the other types of honey and soaps!

Word has been out on this place for over a decade now, but it's always a treat to experience…read more One year way back when, they had issues with crazy, CRAZY traffic and people parking alongside the highways all around. Everything has been remedied, as far as I can tell, and it's a pleasant stop if you can time it right. (Typically around Labor Day weekend and the following week). We took our girls for the first time and they enjoyed it. They had to get used to the fact there are boatloads of bees, but the bees are in their own, symbiotic world at that point. They have a few fields, all a very short drive from each other. This last trip up we went to their little general store and ended up having an impromptu dinner from a BBQ truck they had up that weekend. Just a magical night that unfolded with these vibrant yellow flowers all around us against a dark gray sky. If you're too early, it doesn't hit the same, and if you're too late, you'll know it. The Legler Barn Museum complex in the northwest corner of Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park is a wonderful…read morepiece of preserved history. A Civil War era large rock barn that once sat near 95th and Quivira was de-constructed and rebuilt in Lenexa stone by stone in the 1980's. Inside is an odd collection of anything that is a relic of a bygone era from Johnson County. Furniture, toys, quilts, a telephone switchboard...there is also a very large collection of sunflower related objects that a local gentleman started. Being a collector of political paraphernalia, I loved seeing all of the political buttons! It's a bit of an odd and definitely eclectic hodge-podge of stuff, but it works and the price is free to enter, although donations are welcomed. Next to the barn is an old depot that was relocated there and contains a large horse buggy and lots of railroad memorabilia. There is also a caboose and an old interurban passenger shelter that is there. A great architectural salvage project keeping local history alive for future generations!

The tour is $10, takes about an hour, and if you have a good guide (which unfortunately we did not), you learn lots of interesting history, including that the home was turned into an orphanage after the war and the Spanish flu destroyed families and left many children homeless. Although the power went out for part of our tour due to the bajillions of tiny holiday lights and old wiring overload, it was so worth the trip! Although the home's decorations will probably never be as gorgeous as during the Christmas season, I am already planning another museum/home tour because there was SO much to see, and so many fascinating displays to explore, an hour was not long enough. The original woodwork, intricate parquet floors, and leaded glass throughout the home could be a whole tour on their own! I also recommend a drive around the area to see some of the many historic churches in the vicinity. We also had reservations for lunch at the tearoom based on a glowing recommendation from a friend, but I think this must have been an "off" day for them, perhaps in part due to the unexpected power outages.
