This farm was about 40 minutes south west of my home in KCMO and located right off the roadway. My wife and I were greeted by one of the neighbors who helps keep an eye on the farm and run the register for the stand. They have plenty of live berry bushes and small trees in the nursery part of the farm and so many pumpkins. You couldn't walk five feet without finding more pumpkins!! They have a cute little building which houses all the canned jams, jellies, honey, and syrups that they have available. My wife and I spotted some peach and blackberry jalapeño jam and I was hooked!! Who doesn't love a little kick to their morning toast? They even had a small corn maze in the back of the farm for kids. As well as a sizable bonfire pit set right next to a stream that looks like it's amazing on cool autumn nights. They have a rabbit, three donkeys, and a cat who wonders the property. Being an animal lover I couldn't resist saying hello to the donkeys. One was rather happy to see me pick up the brush and pet him for 10 minutes while the other two eyed me down. When we were there it was quite and peaceful as we were the only customers. Talking with the lady who helped us she said "wait until tomorrow and this place will be full". She went on to tell us that it's mainly busy with school trips during the week and that on Wednesday they had a kindergarten class come through to learn and make their own cider. Did I mention that yet? You can schedule a hayride and make your own fresh squeezed cider!! If that's not a reason to get some friends together this fall then I don't know what is!! If you're looking for a cute intimate farm to get your fresh pumpkins look no further!! This place is worth the drive.

Being able to sit down and plan out everything from the decorations, the seating, and all the way down to the exact menu we wanted in one meeting made everything so stress free. We were able to have 50 of our closest family friends in attendance and the space fit everyone perfectly. We had so many of our guests compliment the food, and the staff here was so amazing in putting together such an amazing dinner for all of us. However, I will say the cream cheese ice cream that I wanted to see if they could recreate (Which they DID) was the biggest hit of the night! You can hitch a ride on one of the tractor-pulled carts or hoof it yourself, just through the play areas and up the gentle slope. Berries are poppin' in May, so getcha a box and get to hunting! Hot tip: the best berries seem to be in the middle. A flat box runs you $0.75 and the berry price is a bit over $5/lb. If you just can't stop picking, then you'll fill a flat quickly and you're rewarded with maybe $40 worth of strawberry goodness. These berries are so worth it! Clean, sweet, and just ripe for the picking! Gieringers does other berries (blackberries, blueberries, etc.) but those are best picked well into the summer. The service is awesome, whether it's help with parking or a lift to & from the berry patch, the staff is always helpful and easy to find. Great enterprise and great fun!

I came here on a hot summer day to enjoy the rows upon rows of bright yellow sunflowers amongst a beautiful blue sky. The fields may be small, but they are big enough for there to be plenty of flowers and to look yellow from overhead. I had a very relaxing time walking through the sunflower field, taking pictures, and enjoying nature. The farm is free to visit. Strawberries are sold by the pound, and sunflowers are a suggested donation of $1 per cut flower. There were also fresh-off-the-vine watermelons and cantaloupes for sale at $5 each when I visited. Photography is welcomed though a donation is strongly encouraged for each shoot. Overall, Berry Hill Upick Farm is a lovely little farm in Topeka, Kansas.

I have been going for the last 30 years and have seen many changes but have never left disappointed. The patch normally opens mid June and highly recommend calling the Picking Report before heading out. If going with little ones, take a wagon or backpack carrier for them. Little fingers can't pick very fast and tend to get tired. They have a wonderful bakery with delicious muffins for sale and a general store with all kinds of jams, bakery items, honey and anything blueberry related. If you didn't pick enough, you can also buy "We Pick" berries, but calling ahead to reserve is recommended. Lots of picnic tables to enjoy baked goods or picnic lunches. Walking can be challenging on the gravel surfaces, but for anyone with difficulties can drive to the farther fields. There will still be walking involved and no hard surfaces.
