Everything has been remedied, as far as I can tell, and it's a pleasant stop if you can time it right. (Typically around Labor Day weekend and the following week). We took our girls for the first time and they enjoyed it. They had to get used to the fact there are boatloads of bees, but the bees are in their own, symbiotic world at that point. They have a few fields, all a very short drive from each other. This last trip up we went to their little general store and ended up having an impromptu dinner from a BBQ truck they had up that weekend. Just a magical night that unfolded with these vibrant yellow flowers all around us against a dark gray sky. If you're too early, it doesn't hit the same, and if you're too late, you'll know it. For two to three weeks around Labor Day, Grinter Farms is the place to be and the sunflowers are the main attraction. Family and engagement photos, candid pics, selfies, panoramics and more. It's fun for all ages. The main field, which is the smaller of the two, has a small store for gifts and collectibles. The second field, about a quarter mile down the road, is made for exploring.

We spent a lot of time riding the toy tractors, fishing, mining for gold, playing with the goats, and--of course--washing our hands over and over. We also took a hayrack ride with the famous Budweiser horses, which was a real treat. There are various buildings with eateries, small museums, and interactive exhibits. I was pleasantly surprised--and happy--that they sell healthy (and not-so-healthy) kid-friendly food. The Farmstead is also incredibly affordable. Admission is only $5, and most activities and food options are very reasonably priced. The size is perfect--big enough to explore without feeling crowded, but manageable enough to see most activities in a couple of hours. Plus, it's all outdoors with live animals, which makes it extra fun. The Farmstead depicts a Kansas family farm in the early 1900s, with over 250 animals, a country schoolhouse, and plenty of hands-on activities. Highly recommend for families looking for an educational, fun, and affordable day out!

If you go right at opening, you can catch the running of the baby goats! They also have great seasonal activities like their extensive light show during the holidays, which has been added to our family traditions! Some everyday activities are extra money, but you can definitely have fun without spending more than the entrance fee! One down side is you can't bring your own food for lunch, but they have some tables outside of the area so you could still bring a lunch. Deanna Rose is definitely worth bringing your kids to!

I would give this zero stars if I could…read more.. The owner Matt is a joke! Reserved this on June from Booking.com and I called today, September 7th to confirm instructions for the door. He calls me back, yelling, saying he "tried" to get a hold of me several times to cancel but in Booking.com it showed it was still booked. I called booking.com and they told me that he never informed them that my reservation was cancelled. So... he cancelled my reservation after he found out that a music festival was the same weekend I booked so he can raise his prices. What a dishonest piece of shit! If I didnt called today, I would've drove 4 hours, to find out I didnt have a place to stay. To top it off, because he didn't inform Booking.com, my funds would've still been taken out from my credit card! I had to demand booking.com to call him while I was on the phone to cancel it on his end, because my reservation was still confirmed. Again, what a joke of a person you are! Because this guy is so shady, I wouldnt be surprised if there were hidden cameras all over the place! The pictures are from his responses on another platform, deleting my reviews

When we arrived we were greeted by Scott and after a quick run through and tour of the house we went to our room, The Jesse & Rhoda room. The room was so charming and perfect for our needs. We spent the next few hours roaming around their land. They have beautiful walking trails and a pond with fish. There's turkeys, dogs, kittens, and cows to become friends with. They turned their barn into the Bar/n which is a super cool hangout space with TVs, dartboard, and an amazing bar. You can bring your own alcohol and I could see this being an amazing place to bring a group of friends. While we were in the Bar/n chickens and kittens were roaming around. It was so charming. There is an option to add dinner to your stay for $25 a person. You must add this to your reservation! We were able to enjoy and amazing surf and turf dinner with the owners with amazing homemade bread, celery salad from their garden, and amazing fruit crisp. Their beef is from the cattle they raise in their property. Don't even get me started on breakfast the next morning. It was just as good! We will definitely be returning for another staycation!

*MUST VISIT FALL ACTIVITY*…read more Louisberg Cider Mill is such a gem and a charming little place to visit! Just 25-30 minutes away from Overland Park and surrounding areas. The parking is easy, and during fall they have a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and family activities - currently they have opened up their activities space from 12th Sept. The parking area to the left is geared towards the fall activity and on the right you will find the country store itself along with hard cider booth, Food truck and a tiny Mill itself. Since it was 90° outside, I skipped the activities and went into the store directly. The rest of the year, the country store and mill are open I believe. It was my very first cider mill experience. And I couldn't have picked up a better place than this one - absolutely fell in love!! The store feels like walking straight into fall ... the smell inside the store will make you nostalgic instantly. The store shelves were stocked with everything from fruit butters,BBQ sauces, Loose Teas, Jams ,Preserves to pancake/donut/cake mixes, ciders, and wines along with seasonal decor and kids stuff. I couldn't help but feel like a kid again lol. I left with strawberry rhubarb preserve, Dutch apple preserve, apple butter, orchard blend hard cider, and the donuts off course. NOTE - Since I am a diabetic, I'm always searching for food items which has no extra sugar added, and I found that many of the preserves butters had no extra sugar added ... it was a win-win situation for me. The donuts are warm, golden, dusted with Sugar, and extremely soft inside. It 100% answered the question like if fall had a flavor then this could be it - very cinnamony and cider like. The Dutch apple preserves were full of crisp apple chunks huge ones, the strawberry rhubarb preserve was also perfectly made and the apple butter had a deep caramelized flavor and my husband loved the hard cider for being crisp and slight sweetness. Right next door is the mill itself, with displays of cider-making equipment and baskets of fresh apples. There's also outdoor seating to eat the purchased food. I'll definitely going to be back when the temperature cools down to explore the pumpkin patch and the corn maze. If you're anywhere near Kansas City, this place is a MUST fall activity. Even if you just go for the donuts, it's worth the trip.

We had been going to another nearby orchard for apple picking, but the shine wore off that and Weston Red Barn Farm is our new pick. It's a great little escape from Kansas City that's under an hour drive from downtown itself. They have: -Tons of pumpkins -A maze -Goats, chickens, horses, pigs, and other animals -Cider slushies, candies, and fall goodies While we most recently visited on a Monday (kids were off school), the weekends are where it's at here. They have more food options, pony rides, and other fun stuff for the kids. It's understandably quieter during the week. Oh and let's not forget the overall setting: bucolic, relaxing, and pretty beautiful for Missouri countryside is I may say so myself. I totally see why people get married here.

I have to give a lower rating this year because they don't have much on their website as far as Covid guidelines. I reached out to see if they'd allow visitors to walk to the pumpkin patch to avoid the crowded wagon and they said no. I also asked if the wagons would have distance between seats and they said no. I realize outside is a little safer but I don't want to be forced onto a wagon with strangers who may not be wearing masks. This review is more for people who are wondering about their guidelines and if it's safe. They do usually have pre-picked pumpkins for sale that you don't have to ride a wagon to get to which is nice but I think I'll have to find a pumpkin patch that has some actual guidelines for Covid this year.
