Without a doubt, this is a Holy Spirit filled church that bases everything that is preached & every core belief on the Bible. I have made so many friends (even met my fiancé here while serving haha) & have been called higher by people who see things in me before even I do. This is a place of joy, hope, encouragement, wisdom, truth (which can be convicting), growth (which is not always comfortable), & alway always so much love because the Spirit of the Lord is here! The architectural design of the church is breathtaking and the entire church is spotless and very clean. The acoustics and organ sounded so beautiful. The church has several levels and the bathrooms are on the bottom floor. They have their own parking lot and there is very little street parking near the church. I look forward to coming back for mass one Sunday. Mass times for the Cathedral of Christ the Light are: Sunday at 8 AM (Vietnamese), 11 AM (English), and 1:30 PM. Tuesday has a Holy Hour from 7-8 PM.

I was invited by a co-worker of mine when the church was still in its first year. Ever since I attended my first service I was hooked. There is something there that just spoke to me and said that I belong here that this is the place I needed to be. Over the years I became very involved in the small group and leadership roles that the church has. I've enjoyed creating connections in serving the community and growing in god and the spirt and most of all gaining a whole new church family that comes from all walks of life. Some churches talk about loving people and living the Gospel - Oaklife actually does it. The people are super friendly and accepting. Christmas lighting happens almost every year and free to the public and members alike. They do free tours and put on quite the show with music ensemble and nativity from all different cultures. You'll see much more abundance of sister and brother missionaries as theyll be the one leading the tours. They're so sweet, kind, willing to answer any questions or concerns you have without pressuring you. I came to love the missionaries bc of that. Ofc if anyone does, feel free to let them know you arent comfortable and theyll back off. Hence, coming here during the summer was a nice treat. We actually happen to arrive in the middle of someone's wedding day. It was a beautuful Tongan wedding. Maybe its a sign?? Lol. The parking inside is ample but when it has events, it does fill quickly. We almost didnt find one, but thankfully we lucked in with the three parking. Everyone visiting was so friendly that we saw and met today. (Xmas, too, in 2016.) There's an abundance of flower garden at the front of the temple, a stream, and water fountain. Up the stairs, to the second floors, has another flower garden. It overlooks the city of SF, so its quite scenic. Our church focuses on making sure its clean so everyone that visits has a pleasant moment with our Heavenly Father. Though, a picnic does seem tempting, I would advise against any food or drinks on the premise as its church grounds and a reverent place. A place is only as beautiful,if everyone puts in the effort to keep it so. We hope everyone visiting can treat this place with the same respect. Other than that, feel free to enjoy. :) Such an ideal place to relax and meditate too.

I saw this big church just across from Lake Merritt and asked what that? He told me that was Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He grew up right on the street behind it. His paper route (something kids had back then), delivered to the nuns that lived in the rear of the complex. This church was also a elementary school. I don't know if it today or not. The children all wore uniforms to school. He remembers seeing them walking past his house and thinking that was strange having to wear uniforms, but that's a 7 year old thinking, that went to public schools. The big bell tower that still rings ... actually doesn't have real bells in it, they have big speakers that sound the bells. Something he told me the nuns told him once. The front of the main church is quite majestic and the inside is cavernous. I'm not a real church goer but if you were looking for a Catholic Church, this might be a good one if you live nearby.

It is NOT OPEN 9am-3pm as the answering machine states. Your best bet is to leave a voicemail and MAYBE someone will call you back if you leave enough information about what you're asking for. You CANNOT drop by the office and expect someone to be there. It doesn't seem you can make appointments ahead of time either based on the volunteer nature of the office staff. If you require any documents, request that they be mailed to you to save everyone time/effort. I had contacted the parish in regards to Baptism. To save the next family some time, here is what I learned: - Baptisms are performed on the first Sunday of the month at the 10am Mass - you must attend a Baptism class (1st Saturday of the month) prior to the Baptism. - There is a Baptism donation fee plus a fee per godparent for the Baptism class - you must have a conversation with the Priest - you must be registered with the Church - At least one godparent needs to be baptized, first communion and confirmed. - The Baptism certificate can only hold 4 names so if you have more godparents, keep in mind that not all names will be printed on the certificate. Those were the main points but you'll learn more specifics in the Baptism class about the ceremony itself, what to bring and what to expect. I now understand that the office is severely understaffed but the process for arranging the baptism could have been improved and I felt a sense of irritation by volunteers that I had too many questions. I hope this helps someone out there, have a nice day.

I have never felt apart of a family before, even my own family, but here it's like one huge family. God places lonely people in families. Psalm 68:6 (GWT) Pastor Ed's sermons week after week are amazing and always inspiring. I also enjoy our other pastor's sermons as well, such as; Spencer Romero, Christopher Stites, etc. The service is organized into 4 - Parts; The Tension (What question will this message answer?), The Truth (What scripture will this message be taught from?), The Takeway (What is the main point of the message?), The To-Do (How should I apply this message to my life?). theMOVEMENT also has MOVEMENTgroups which are essentially "small groups" or "life groups" where we can join in community with one another.
