I'm 4 classes in at this particular studio and not especially impressed. I can't speak to the…read morefitness classes, only the yoga ones, and I know it's a little less conventional than your typical yoga-only joint which is actually why it gets 3 stars and not 2. Now, I did check this place out on a Groupon because yoga ain't cheap, but I can't see myself returning once it expires. Pros: Close to home. For me, at least. I often have no vehicle so this is an epic win. The instructors are super nice. Zero pretentiousness at all - a wonderful, albeit relatively rare virtue in Vancouver's yoga culture. They are also really fantastic at adding modifications for more advanced students to continue moving forward in their practice. Also a win! Doable for beginners and more challenging for the pros. Mat cleaner for all! Smells soooo good and a lovely provision. Cons: The noise. It's loud. People talk in the hot room. A lot. Maybe i'm a bit of a purist, but I don't love that. To me It's a place for calm. The music is often too loud or inappropriate for a yoga class. Again, totally fine for fitness classes...but not yoga. The floors. They are sort of made of this dense gym mat material. Great if you bail! Terrible for stability. The etiquette. As if the talking in class isn't bad enough, people bring cell phones to their mats. And they DO RING. To my knowledge, this wasn't addressed by the teacher (and the woman did not apologize). People enter the room late. People leave class early. The 15 minute window between classes makes for a rushed experience, effectively defeating the purpose of why I practice (just a personal thing, really). The space. There is none. Literally. Some cubby holes to put your stuff in near the front door and everyone is constantly tripping over each other. Lack of facilities. There is none. There is one bathroom and a staff bathroom. No change rooms. No showers. No lockers. Literally nowhere to change with 15 people coming and another 15 going at all times. I'm all for just the basics, no frills kinda stuff, don't get me wrong. But I am sure glad I only paid Groupon price for this experience. I may be able to overlook everything if this was a "you get what you pay for" situation. But the regular prices are on par with pretty much everywhere else - and everywhere else (I won't name names) tends to provide a much better overall experience.

Most are only from 9:30am, which is the start of their last morning class, so you'll need to factor more time in the morning to look for space. Parking is a bit of an issue as I couldn't find parking and ended up arriving at the door at 9:30am for the 9:30am class, and they had already locked the door. I understand that you don't want to disturb the class, but that didn't stop them from letting someone open the door to the classroom before the end of the class. My recommendation is to have the 9:30am class start at 9:35 so that there's parking. Nice things: they have spray bottles for cleaning your matt.

Seems as soon as they find the great ones and you give them a fantastic review, they move those people to other locations. But they are all welcoming.

I have been going to the Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness gym since its inception on Lougheed in 2020…read more It was a huge improvement from the previous Steve Nash Fitness World gym that was located in the same location. The membership registration was clear, concise and transparent. The equipment was varied and extensive and initially spread out due to COVID. The maintenance of the machines was a little slow in the early days, when machines would be out of service for weeks. This may have been due to supply chain and staffing issues. In more recent years, the machines are being promptly serviced, the maintenance guys seem to know what they are doing, and the cleaners are actively working. In 2026, the equipment got an overhaul even though it did not look like it was needed. There is an annual fee that members pay which is meant to be reinvested in the equipment. I was so impressed that I got to see that in action. The machines were moved a little close together to squeeze in new equipment so there is unfortunately less "stretch" areas than before. I work out with free weights mostly so do not benefit much from the additional machines, but it seemed to make a lot of other members happy. I was a bit skeptical of Club 16 moving into an old building that experienced many leaks after heavy rains and air conditioning issues since the time it was the Steve Nash gym. However, Club 16 seem to address the leaks promptly but I am not sure how long they can continue with the "band aid" fixes. When the air conditioning is working, it is still not cool enough for a gym environment. There is a spot in the cardio area, from the bicycles in the front to the step mills at the back, where it gets extremely hot and humid because the air is so still. Installing commercial ceiling or wall fans to move the air around the area would be a huge improvement, especially since there does not seem to be a long term solution for the current HVAC system. The staff at the front desk in the mornings are always friendly and never leave the reception unattended. Some of the staff have been with the gym for many years, which makes it all the more welcoming when we recognize their faces! Over the years, a close community has formed with the regular members during the morning hours. Every so often Trevor Linden would show up, doing some work around the gym, just like any other staff member. Leadership by example and humility will only make this organization grow stronger, and more successful. Thank you to the Trevor Linden team for a great service and keeping the promises made to your customers!
