The staff is very moody. My boyfriend and I certainly didn't feel warm and welcome. The food was very delicious but the staff seemed more interested in looking at some utube video than putting a smile on their faces. I live in the neighborhood and have been to Trios before. This restaurant is garbage. The portions are terrible. Paid $60 all in (take out) and it was barely enough for 1 person. The chicken quesa contained 3 small quesas... lmao Please add some pictures to your menu so everyone knows the direction they are throwing their money into the garbage bin. read more

Seriously awesome. When you open the door you walk through a red velvet curtain and are met with a cozy, small, dark little lounge. It feels like a secret, and on a Monday night it was pretty quiet when we met for cocktails and sharing plates. As others mentioned, it's dark and almost mysterious here. We sat by the window which was lovely. Candles on every table make it warm and cozy and the blackboard menu features the day's specials. Their cocktail menu is superbe and I can't wait to go back and try more. I opted (as did several of us based on the server's recommendation) for the margarita and I'm so glad I did. It was divine and I love any place that serves my cocktails in a mason jar. Feels like I'm at home (but with nicer garnishes!). Fauve G and I shared the Adventure plate which is just as it sounds - an adventure! It's basically a sharing plate, but is the chef's choice - surprise! Let me tell you, the chef kicks ass. Our plate came with a strong cheese whose name escapes me (it had a similar texture to brie but had a really strong fragrance and taste), peach and cranberry chutney, delicious candies peanuts, cured salami, grilled cheese toasts with homemade ketchup, dijon mustard, pickles, and olives marinated in house. My tastebuds were seriously happy with the chef. This place was great for a girl's night out, but it would be supremely romantic for a date. I noticed some DJ equipment in the corner, so I'm guessing they play some jams on busier nights. The music playing while we were there was basically what I'd listen to on my iPod so I super happy with it. Think Florence and the Machine, Monsters and Men, Fiona Apple. One more thing that deserves the utmost in high fives? Our server, Jen. She was phenomenal - witty, sweet, friendly and attentive. She knew her stuff about each and every thing on both sharing plates, made recommendations and chatted with us a bit. Super cute? Cute neighbourhood nook! I went for drinks and apps this past Monday evening with some girlfriends! We sat at the adorable window table and chatted over the adventure plates and margaritas I couldn't choose between three of the tempting cocktails on the menu - our server recommended the margarita, and I'm so glad she did, it was AMAAAAAZING! I'll have to try the other two another time! The adventure plates are sooo appealing! We wound up with such a great combination! Each plate is whatever the chef decides to throw on a slab for people to devour. It was just the best choice because I'm so indecisive! The didn't have a written down version of the chef's evenings creations, but my pictures are a great way to remember...for the most part! Nuts - with some sort of tasty coating Jam made of something! Warmed Brie Shaved meat Pickles with a side of homemade dijon mustard Grilled cheese on a baquette with homemade ketchup A great little bowl of olives and a bowl of mushrooms that I didn't touch! On our friend's plate... Sandwich of sorts... Had a fantastic dinner here last night with a couple of friends. First impression: very small, but cozy place. Liked the atmosphere - dark lighting, comfortable benches. Good place for a 1st date. Service: one person working on Monday evening so service was a tad slow at times but nothing to write home about as the server was always super friendly and helpful (even added extras to our plates to ensure we had enough for all of us Cocktails: unique and fun. Would highly suggest. All refreshing with a slight kick Food: We asked the service to choose dishes for us - and we weren't disappointed! It's smallish plates, tapas style so for 4 people we received 6 plates. All served one after another, they ALL tasted delish and were received warm and ready to eat. The dishes that I remember: -adventure plate: combo of meet/cheese/crispy potatoes/olives/hummus/dates wrapped in bacon and fresh bread. Delightful and more than enough food! -spicy peanut pizza: not spicy (and I'm a baby when it comes to spice) great combo of carmalized onion and goat cheese -taco special: crispy creamy taco goodness! That's all I can remember -grilled cheese: sounds typical but it was the perfect combination of buttery bread and cheese, served with a cinnamony-ketchup like side (don't knock it til you try it!) Good: Cool selection of music. Dark and mysterious lounge-y vibe. Service is really friendly but not overwhelming. Better: The food is super-good. Most are small bites, perfect for sharing. The cheese and meat selections are superb (and the ricotta is made in house!). I'm not sure what they're marinated in, but I've never had better olives. Best: The cocktails - great selection of classics and new takes on traditional goodies. They're pleasing to stare at, and taste even better. I've tried about six (most, but not all in one sitting) and each one has been spectacular. This is an ideal place for a second date (the first is just a psycho screen, obvio). The DJ nights are a bit louder, but fun. The kitchen and bar are open late. Last time we came out onto an empty street save for two fat raccoons strolling down the sidewalk! Went here around 11pm after work on a Thursday night. As soon as my friend and I stepped inside we were impressed. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming. It is very dimly lit, with a single candle on each table. Good for a date night, but equally perfect for a quiet girls night. I have been searching for somewhere with a cafe like atmosphere that stays open late (2am), serves alcohol for those wanting to drink, but without having a bar vibe. I found it here. The staff were all friendly, in a very natural non-phony manner. They were always available, but not in your face. We each decided it was a water kind of night, though the selection of cocktails did look incredible. After debating between the adventure plate or a cheese and meat platter, we went with the adventure plate as I had read many good things about it. And rightfully so, it was indeed an adventure.. A delicious one. About 7 miniature servings of different creations, from cheese with apple slices to stuffed meat roll thingies. It was served with a tray of baguettes and crackers and so our after-work hungry tummies were very satisfied by the end. Shared between two the $18 price is totally worth it. Music was very relaxing and peaceful, and the general atmosphere was just great. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cozy night out in Westboro, I will certainly be going again as it is a mere 20 minute walk down the road. read more

This place is awesome. It has a really sexy atmosphere for a date, but it's also a great place for drinks with friends. The place is lit with candles and decorated with local art available for sale. Menu ranges anywhere from $6 for a bottled beer to $13-15 for their signature cocktails (try the watermelon mojito - unreal). Wine list is extensive for both red and whites. Always great music too. As for the food, they have a great tapas menu that changes periodically. Lots of great meats and cheeses. Reasonably priced. The girls working there are awesome - always consistently good service that isn't pushy or pretentious. A must-do if you're in Westboro looking to try something new! Trio has been a favorite of mine for over 7 years. I love that the waitress Jen still remembers how I like my martini even when I had been AWOL for over a year. THAT's great customer service! I recommend the trio potatoes and the 'Little bitty things from the kitchen' plate. They used to have a love DJ on the weekends but no longer - which is too bad. It's a quaint little lounge in the heart of Westboro that goes by the name of Trio. Incredibly fitting considering the three main reasons to venture to this mellow and comforting meeting place: great atmosphere, great drinks and great food. Before even walking in you can almost feel the vibe. With a small patio in the front, Trio generally has a few people outside having a drink, a smoke and having a chat. Head indoors and you find a cozy lounge with the lights turned down low and candles burning at each of the roughly seven tables. Local artwork adorns the walls, and although they change often, each piece seems to have a sex appeal and rawness. Follow the artwork and tables to the back and you will quickly find a bar. Trio has a wine list and some wonderful cocktails, but one of the keys to visiting Trio is the beer. They carry the St. Ambroise line of beer from Montreal, including the crown jewel, their apricot beer. Not too overpowering, the apricot flavour mixes well in a beer and is a great addition to Trio's food line up. Ideal upscale lounge food is what you can expect. From the simple potato wedges with curry mayo, to the extensive plates of Italian meats and various cheeses, to the pear and brie pizza, the menu is concise and well priced, especially considering the neighbourhood. Trio is the perfect place to meet friends for a chat and a drink, or a nice relaxing date. read more

It's great to have somewhere nicer than a pub that you can still go to late after work in Westboro. Trio is open till 2am, so you can enjoy your wine and tapas leisurely. My friend and I started out with a bottle of Cabernet Merlot and ordered a cheese plate. The cheese plate came with a selection of three different cheeses, some croustinis, strawberries, pear, coulis and bread. It was a perfect plate to start with along with our wine. After our cheese plate we had a plate with a variety of tapas. This included pate, olives, meat and cheese along with some more croustinis and bread. I especially liked this plate because of it's variety. The service was good and so was the variety of music. The rest of the menu looked fantastic, so I will have to go back! read more

I'm going to write this review in point form because it really doesn't deserve the effort of full sentences. -Drinks were delicious but our 3 cocktails took more than 20 minutes to arrive. -Server did not explain the beer feature, just told us the brand name. -Appeared that the server made sure his friends were attended to before us (they came in well after us and received their drinks well-before us). -Server did not return for a qualify check. -Decor is dated (like think 1998-2001). -Did not feel it to be a warm, welcoming environment. read more
