Great bar in the LES. Went here over the holidays for a work alumni gathering. We had our own area in the bar reserved on high top tables at no additional cost. The staff was really accommodating and the happy hour prices went until 8 or 9. $8 dollar titos and soda and $5 dollar draft beers - cant be beat! Probably not a win for the bar but it never got over shoulder to shoulder crowded. i.e. we were all able to chat and hang out. All of the apps were really tasty. Your typical NYC sports bar. I've always had a good time here. Meet up with friends after work for happy hour or start the night here if you're bar hopping. Either way, you'll enjoy this no frills bar. Went here early on a weekday for some hair of the dog and hopefully an Irish Breakfast. They didn't have that, but the chef was kind enough to make me some over-easy eggs accompanied by some delicious toast (the bread was fabulous -- made us want to take-out a BLT sandwich but we weren't going home). This order was totally off-menu yet they accommodated my humble request. Also, importantly, they charged only $6 for my breakfast -- and their pricing model has apps starting at $8 (still a great value) -- so bless 'em! I have *never* in my life paid anything less than $10 (and usually a hundred more) for special, off-menu orders in restaurants. I agree with our fellow customers, the tater tots are to die for. Best buddy had a Cobb salad. A great value and chock full of fresh ingredients -- served in good measure. And it wasn't all chopped up as so many places do. The bacon was thick-cut style and freshly cooked; eggs merely halved; avocado in fresh, bright-colored hunks. The dressing was delicious and not overpowering. Blue cheese was good -- and placed on the side as requested. Drinks were generous in measure and priced right -- even for NYC. The service couldn't have been better nor friendlier. The woman was incredible -- even overheard me talking about a Bloody Mary but it didn't look as if it would be too easy for her to make one -- and she insisted on making one. She did it from scratch and it was just wonderful. As she worked we bantered about what our plans were in the City, how we liked our accommodations -- and even about her two-year-old daughter, the love of her life! We felt as if we were long-time regulars and we'd never set foot in the place. On the way out, we noticed on our check that our server was "triona." And we asked -- indeed we were served by the owner's wife, after which their two restaurants are named. Kudos for hard work! Go here -- eat here -- it's a great bet. They may not root for your team, but it's comfortable enough and a great value. read more

Quickly becoming one of my go-to bars. I didn't even know this place existed until I was walking home from the Kips Bay AMC and saw a huge crowd inside, watching hockey. I find myself coming here to watch games more often, simply because the space is huge and there's always something to do (darts, billiards, etc.) The crowd is a pretty perfect combination of diverse clientele, which melds the frattiness of Murray Hill, with the hipster-ness of East Village/Alphabet City. Pretty much my perfect crowd. The crowd itself also is usually pretty comfortable every time I've been here, and you'll never find yourself aching for space. They have a ton of TV screens and abundant drink specials from day to day. Bartenders are super friendly and are very quick to get you your drink. The food here is your standard bar fare, but definitely executed very well. I definitely recommend the buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and nachos. Beer selection is pretty diverse, and I'm a fan of the $4 Yuenglings. Can't go wrong with that. Come here to watch games, or for a good happy hour/pregame. read more

I met a friend here for a Sunday afternoon sports viewing day. He was here early with his girlfriend to watch Arsenal's last game of the season and I was interested in watching Game 2 of the Rangers-Bruins series (an awful game!). Hockey and Soccer are far from two of the most popular sports in the US and often it is hard to find a bar that has one or the other on, let alone both! There are plenty of beers on tap to choose from (which was exactly the drinking mood I was in). They even have Strongbow on tap which is a great cider to enjoy during an early morning soccer (football if I may) game so you don't feel like a complete degenerate drinking beer that early on a Sunday. They actually have an entire chalkboard on the back wall with a list of all the beers they are currently carrying on tap (which I did not notice until my third beer as I was just looking at the different tap handles down the bar). I also noticed quite a few Chicago sports teams plastered all over the bar walls so if you are a Chicago transplant or visiting from Chicago this would be a bar to seek out. read more

Three/year update: Triona's is still kicking and then some. This Triona's is less than a year old, but it's fitting into the neighborhood as if it's been around for ages. Great contemporary sports bar and pub -- a dozen big flat screens ablaze with several games, but you can request other games that aren't on whether football, baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, you name it. Great pub food, including fish tacos that you can't help but love since they're both packed with a large slice of seasoned Cod. There are also man-sized hamburgers, zesty chicken wings, delectable hummus, and a nicely cooked filet of salmon atop a tasty tureen of couscous. Specials include homemade soups and dishes of the day. Best of all, next to the fairly priced beer and cocktails, is the pleasant crowd, mostly 20 and 30 somethings, but with a nice mix of older folks. Great attentive barkeeps almost never fail to guess when you're ready for another. Plenty of tables and chairs and a nice back space for a few games of competitive darts. Tuesdays are trivia nights. If you want to hang alone or with friends, this is the place to go. On Third Ave. between 17th and 18th Streets. There used to be a joint in the space called Stills, which was horrible. Triona's is the direct opposite. I should know. I've lived in the area for 30 plus years. I've seen them all and this is a good one. read more

Nothing specail. They play sports way too loud, and they don't adjust the sound for spoken word instead of music, so it is distorted. Food was OK, not great. Nothing special about this place. Better sports bars out there. read more

I've been going to Trionas in Greenwich since I moved here... in fact before I moved here. It's always been known as a super duper divey bar with worn out dart boards, pool tables, and what not. AKA I've never thought of it as a classy bar. Then I went to the Trionas on 3rd and my oh my is it a change! First off they have a massive room with super high ceilings and dart boards in the back, but the biggest thing is the space. Everything looks relatively new, they play some poppin music (better sound system) and it's a great place to just chill, grab some pints and hang out. The other Trionas, I would probably go to after drinking a ton and wanting to just hang and play some pool, but this Trionas is where the night begins! Needless to say, if you are looking to start the night check out Trionas on 3rd, if you're looking to end the night check out trionas in Greenwich. Last night was a really good night and I wanted to go back to my hotel and call it a night but my girl wanted one more drink and it was late. Great thing Triona's was a block away from the hotel. I could look and see it's looks new and had to check it out. This place seems to have a bit of an identity crisis... It's not sure if it wants to be a homey "Irish" bar, or an upscale gastropub. Not a bad bar if you don't mind paying eight dollars a glass for Yellowtail after happy hour. The sulfites in that swill will get you dizzy before you even feel drunk! The $12 beet and orange salad is OK. But that price doesn't get you any protein, and that's about the only semi-healthy thing they offer to eat. Tuesday night trivia is alright. Other pros are that the venue is clean and roomy overall, so it's certainly not a dive bar like Crocodile Lounge and others in the ads. However, for the prices they charge, they could pour something better than $12/liter fortified grape must. read more

This place seems like it could be a pretty good sports bar with lots of big tvs in all spaces, and the smell of beer and buffalo wings wafting. My main problem with it however was that on a Sat. night when I was there they had the TV audio blasting through the sound system. It was impossible to make out the sound from the TV, which just created a huge noise din. Of course this causes everyone to have to yell to be heard, and the noise level just becomes unbearable. We finished our drinks and headed across the street to Mumbles, with the sound of Dr Pepper commercials reverberating through our heads. Just put on some music. No one needs to hear the sound from the TV, especially if you can't even "hear" it. read more

Loved this bar. Good drink specials, friendly bar staff, and to my super psyched surprise caters to Chicago sports - cubs, Blackhawks, bulls, bears. Felt like I was back home. Tried the wings which were good. Not super spicy but good. Fish and chips were good portion sizes and tasty although overly salty for my taste. Plenty of brews on tap to choose from. Multiple waitress's take care of you and are super friendly. Thought the decor was great. Plenty of TVs for a game. I'll be back. read more

Came here last night just taking a stroll up third ave from st marks. For Thursday nights every place in the area seemed busy but this one had a good vibe with the knicks game going on and at least was able to get a table near the door. Great specials everyday they have a different pitcher, shot, bomb, beer whatever special. Last night the chalkboard got me with $5 skittle bombs. well drinks seem to be around $6. In the end my four drink order ended up being $25. Not bad gramercy. I gotta say I thought I had been to this place before but maybe under a different name. Great specials, nice bartender, and lots of tvs to watch your game. Ill def. be back for HH in the future. read more

Great place for Sunday football. They had all the games on and their food was superb. I has a chicken BLT sandwich which was on point.

So really, this should get 3.5 stars. Right now, I have highlighted only 3 of the stars, but I could very easily go back and highlight a fourth one. I'm undecided. I had a great time here. (Okay, it's back up to 4 stars now.) I sort of hate sports bars, but this is classier, better, ... oh that's what it is, it's more Irish. There are two utterly charming Irish bartenders (brothers?) who are equally nice and easygoing. Despite it being a Friday night, the place wasn't packed, so I was able to chat one of them up to figure out some kind of fun, silly cocktail I might want. What I ended up getting was kind of gross, but oh well. I poached some salad, some buffalo wings, and some nachos from my friends who'd ordered them, and I can attest to the satisfactory quality of the food. One of the salads was a fried goat cheese, endive, and pear salad which was surprisingly refreshing. The other salad, arugula and other stuff, was also good, clearly made with fine quality ingredients. I guess my only qualm with it is that I feel like it shouldn't be a sports bar. That is an issue I've taken with other places as well (see: Wild Hare in SF) and so maybe I'm just not the sports bar type. I can ignore TVs, but it's annoying when you're talking with someone and they're distracted. Also the flickering of the televisions is a strange lighting effect that feels somewhat epileptic. Came here to meet a few friends and could not stop talking about how legit this place was. It's open, a decent amount of high tables and seating, with more room for groups in the back. There is literally a large tv in every corner displaying pretty much any game that is currently on, and the back also has a dartboard. Our bartender was friendly and albeit a touch sassy, but we liked that and tipped her quite well. The bar was also not crowded at all on a Friday evening around 9. Everyone was able to speak and hear each other. Really a rare gem of a sports bar in the city.. I bet there haven't been too many reviews because those who know about it don't want more people to find out! read more

Great sports bar with plenty of space and plenty of TV's so the whole bar doesn't have to congregate around one itty bitty TV! Stopped in for happy hour which goes on till 8pm on weekdays. They have a nice variety of beer on tap for $4 and other drinks like rum and coke/gin and tonic etc for $5. Great bartender, super clean bar and plenty of place to sit. Came here last night with some friends to catch the NBA all star game. The place was decently crowded for a Sunday night. For some reason there was only one bartender working when I got there. Went in to kill a little time on a Wednesday evening. It was quiet with the World Cup on. I could hear a Frenchman cheering for his country. Service was fast and friendly. Large beer selection, which was much appreciated. Got a pretzel to get more money on my tab but god was it worth it. They've got super tasty mustard and pretzels. Cheese dip didn't do much for me, but I'm usually not much of a cheese dip person anyway. Happy hour is cheap, food is tasty, lots of space and a comfortable vibe. read more

One of my favorite sports bars in the area. It is always crowded enough that you feel social, but you can also almost always find a table as well. This classic example of a stereotypical Irish bar did not disappoint - they know how to throw together a great martini, and make it somehow more than you expect. I have been in town for a week, and this was right near my hotel. I don't know what it says about me, but the staff here knew my "usual order" pretty quickly. As in day 2. I'm not particularly picky so I was pleasantly surprised. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, good music and plenty of sports games to watch if thats your thing. My friend and I have been coming to trionas for about a year now and we always make our way in for their trivia night on tuesday night. Trivia night on Tuesdays is a great nights entertainment with Terry the trivia host who make the night fun and entertaining with pretty good rounds of questions and his sarcastic sense of humor The food here is excellent especially their large bowl of wings which is more than enough. We always order them every time we go in. Trionas is a must for any sports you wanna watch with a good beer and tasty bar food. Staff are aways helpful and they know all their regulars. Came here for Cubs World Series game. The game sucked because of the loss. But the bar was pretty legit. It's big and spacious with lots of tables. Service is pretty good. I used to go to the original Triona's near West Village, but my friend loves the place and convinced us to go to the new 3rd ave location. For one thing, it's a lot bigger. Yes, it's on 3rd avenue, but it's not nearly as douchey as it could be. Still a little douchey (it's a sports bar after all), but I had a good time.
