It's good in a way because you don't need to wait 5-10 mins for bartenders to attend you.. The collection of IPAs and beers were good . Wish they had more New England IPAs. Saw some Brooklyn ones , which isn't bad , but nothing as compared to New England ones . It was about 0.86 to 0.88 $ an ounce . When I poured half glass, it was about 5.2$ ! I think it is slightly expensive than other bars around . Food was also on the upper side . Wish they had some snacks or fries less than 8$ for everyone to munch something . If you are a beer drinker, then this is the spot for you! Self serve beer/ciders on tap mounted on the wall - almost seems like an all you can drink for beer. They do have a bar where you can order mixed drinks and also serve food - typical bar stuff which was pretty good. The wings and mozzarella sticks seem to be a go-to. We came here by a friends suggestion as this way THE place to go before a Knicks game so we took them up on it. It wasn't too far of a walk from MSG - two avenues. Initially, we sat in the back by the bar and ordered burgers but then we moved and decided to try the self pour option. What's cool about this place is that you can buy a card (reminded me of buying a game card at the arcade) and then scan your card at any of the taps to pour your own beer! This place is such a very cool concept and very smart business practice. You can pull the tap yourself and even get a cool card to use to pay for drinks as well. On certain days of the week they have a happy hour special that lasts up to 8 PM. We're all drinks on top or $25 for the whole happy hour, which is also pretty smart. Drinks, for the most part are self-service, though you can order food and be served. Overall, I really enjoy Tap Haus and will be coming back! Tap Haus has a really unique vibe - mostly as a sports bar, but not in an overwhelming way. There are plenty of TVs, and most of the seating is bench-style, with a few smaller tables and 4-5 stools at a bar toward the back. The music's never too loud, and the food is surprisingly good! But their real claim to fame is the wall of self-serve beer taps. Something like 40 beers on rotation, with a prepaid card system that works really well. And they usually have some great beers, in addition to the sports bar staples and easy-drinking lagers. Service is usually excellent, though wait times for food can be on the longer side when it's busy. And I've had taps run out on some of my visits (though there are always other choices to make up for it). The people are all super friendly, definitely a big plus to have wonderful staff. I've been to a few other novel self service tap rooms, where you pay by the ounce, but can try so many different beers. While the price per ounce may be more expensive (if you get say 16oz) vs a pint at a beer bar, you are paying to be able to try lots of different beers. So glad that my boyfriend discovered this spot. We visited the first time on a Friday night. It was surprisingly quiet at first, but they picked up as the night went on. I loved the aesthetic, seating, and also a plus with all of the TVS for sports fans. The selection of beers and ability to pour on your own was great and so much fun. This is a really cool concept with the self serving beer! You basically get a preloaded card with money, go up to the beer you want and tap on the beer. There is a 10 second timer for when the tap shuts off as well. It's really close to Penn Station so very convenient for commuters. Tons of TVs for when there are games on too. There wasn't any games on when we went, but I suggest getting there early if you plan to be there for one since I heard it get super crowded. My first at a self-serve tap house and I absolutely loved the experience! My two friends and I came for post-karaoke drinks on a Thursday night around midnight and it wasn't too crowded. The vibe here is pretty chill. I didn't count how many different types of beers and ciders they had on tap, but it was a lot. The way it works it you reload one of their cards with some money, and then you can use that card to try any of the beer they offer. There's information written about each beer on a card above the tap, including where it was produced and the ABV as well as the price, so you have all the information you need to decide what you want to try. Drinks are charged per ounce and prices were very affordable. For both of my drinks (I went with two ciders), I got half a glass and it was around $4-5 for each. read more

It's nice because you can pour as much or as little as you want, so you get to sample a bunch of different beers. You just tap your card in the beer you want and then pull the tap. I must have tried at least 10 different beers that night. I liked it because you don't have to commit to a whole pint that you don't even know if you'll like or not. I visited with my friends in July, so they had a lot of fruity beers. They also have a few stouts (which is my jam) and IPAs or lighter beers too if you're not into fruity. Tap Haus is hiding in plain sight and I've happily reaped the benefits. Self-serve bars are becoming more popular, and Tap Haus is the first I've discovered in NYC. I went to one in North Carolina a few years ago and marveled at the novelty of it (it's also both a brilliant and obvious idea). My dad is a big craft beer fan, so when my fiancé and I went to dinner with my parents in the area recently, I had this on *tap* to keep the night going. There were four of us with four very different tastes in alcohol, and Tap Haus had plenty of options for everyone. We came to Tap Haus at around 10:15 on a Saturday night. My parents had a train to catch at Penn Station at midnight and we were having dinner in Koreatown, so I didn't want to venture too far. Add in that we were hoping to find a not-too-divey sports bar to watch the World Series, and I had my work cut out for me in finding a spot that fit quite the list of criteria. Enter Tap Haus, which was more than a solid option. My parents had never heard of such a concept, so they were intrigued and eager to explore when I suggested it. Walking in at peak time, I was pretty surprised at how chill the vibe/crowd was here. It wasn't too empty, but we easily found a table in prime sports-watching position. But first, drinks. Before becoming immersed in the experience, you'll need to load some money onto a card the host will give you (obviously this can be refilled). Peruse the taps (mostly beer, but they had three ciders available when I went, great for GF folks/anyone who's not into beer but wants draught), choose your adventure, tap your card, and the tap's contents will flow free. The tap will eventually stop so you don't need to worry about anything overflowing, but if you'd like to taste something before committing to a whole glass, just remove your card from the sensor when you've served yourself a sip! This concept has always appealed to me because I'm one to enjoy trying many different things, as I did here with a ciders. If you're not into beer/cider, Tap Haus has a full bar in back that you can pay separately at for mixed drinks, etc. Tap Haus is well-equipped for the avid sports-watcher. There are a number of smaller flat screens throughout the bar, and two larger screens for projecting primetime events. When I first walked in I was pissed to see college football on the main projector facing the entrance, but upon walking through the space we found that baseball was playing on a different wall. Plenty of viewing options/angles. The parents loved it, my fiancé and I loved it, so it definitely fit the bill. read more

There are 40+ craft beers on tap that are self-serve, and the beers get charged by the ounce through RFID cards. This means that you could get a pint or samples of several beers for the same price. Personally, I'm not the biggest beer fan, and I ALWAYS need to sample everything. Had a great time at Tap Haus!! Went in there on a Friday evening and it wasn't too packed. I personally do not drink but met up with some friends and they enjoyed the beer. I personally enjoyed the southwest burger - medium, guac, salsa, cheese. It was HEAVENLY. and don't get me started with the truffle fries the chicken nachos were ok and a little underwhelming.
