Earlier this year, our gutters and front awning were damaged in a storm. I'm normally a DIY kind of person, but I've been suffering from a lack of mobility for the past year or so after a back injury, and found that I wasn't going to be able to get around to doing any kind of repair myself. We dreaded the cost, but bit the bullet and reached out to a few local contractors. These guys responded quick, came out quick for the initial assessment and quote, and gave us a reasonable price and timeframe for the work. A few other companies had comparable prices, several were much more expensive, but the professional communication from this team sold us. The job had to be rescheduled, at first, because of weather, and then again due to the unpredictable schedules that come with custom work, but they responded quickly to calls and e-mails, and kept us in the loop. Finally, the big day came, and during the course of setting up to work, they noticed some issues with our house's novel construction, especially with the way our roofers had not left much of an overhang with our drip edge and shingles. At first, we were worried this was going to turn into a much more expensive job, or that we'd have to start shopping around again, but were pleasantly surprised when the owner himself came out to take a look, with one of their more senior employees, who quickly identified a likely solution. Not only are they going forward with the job as soon as possible, but they're honoring their original quote despite the extra work and materials, partially to make up for the initial scheduling delays. A far better experience, so far, than being left in the dark by other companies we've worked with recently, and it's refreshing to have a company honor their own quote without sneaky fees, last-minute upselling, or bait-and-switch tactics even in the face of unforeseen complications. I'm impressed.

In late 2024, I considered replacing the roof on my Lexington property and now regret not calling "A Godsend Roofing." Instead, I chose another company because of its reviews, a neighbor's recommendation, insurance and BBB listings, and a "Platinum" contractor designation. The roof was replaced in spring 2025, but by 2026 that contractor was out of business. Looking back, I wish I had valued proven character and integrity over the word "Platinum." When a leak developed in mid-August 2026 and I could not reach the original installer, Owens Corning confirmed that the contractor was out of business and provided a list of local Platinum contractors. The first company I contacted was about three weeks out, so I kept looking and found "A Godsend Roofing," listed as a "Preferred" contractor. That gave me a clear choice: wait weeks for a Platinum contractor or call a company I already trusted. I called Darrell Whitlock, and he answered personally. Although he was a Preferred contractor rather than a Platinum contractor, he remembered our earlier work and sent someone that afternoon to find and repair the leak. The repairman also noticed from the driveway that my chimney flashing did not look right, which matched concerns my son and I had already had noticed.
