In-season, the weeklong pass is the way to go. The facility itself is spacious (at the end of a warehouse), and split into two rooms; one open space for classes, and another backroom for open gyms with lifting equipment (racks, benches, etc.). Three lavatories that I counted, however only one water dispenser; be sure to bring a water bottle! The building itself gets pretty hot and humid in the summer, but that's the nature of the OBX. Classes itself are well structured with a good warmup. In-season, it seems like the majority are drop-ins, but everyone's pretty friendly; just be respectful, same as at any box. Coaches are great, very involved and take the time to try to know all of the athletes. Over the past few summers, it seems the programming has started to incorporate more variety, which I've enjoyed. That said, they do program for RX/Games level athletes, so don't be afraid to scale! Overall, I really enjoy coming here each summer I'm visiting, and look forward to being back again next year.

This is frustrating when you drive 20 minutes each way for the 24 hour feature only to have to turn around to come back in during business hours. Both times it was due to him entering the membership duration information wrong. The gym itself is not terrible, but be forewarned there is no water fountain or drink machine.

Plus, it's not super busy (one time I was the only one there, and the other there was only 5 others). I will add the warning that there is no AC, so it gets hot in there (doesn't bother me, but may bother others). Highly recommend this gym to anybody traveling in the area who wants to grab a workout.

It is normally such a pain after an early morning of driving down to beat the traffic and a full day on the beach exhausting the kids to check into your house and then have to go back out for supplies. The waiting forever in long lines when you just want to relax. Not this year! This year we used HIVE and opened the house to a fully stocked Fridge and Pantry! Their work was so seamless and the time they saved was priceless. The fruits and veggies they chose for us were fresh and in perfect condition. They were even insightful enough to choose a box of now strawberries and strawberries that were perfect a couple of days into our trip. You want specialty coffee and doughnuts, no problem that can be delivered too! They can deliver beer and wine as well if you as long as you schedule a time you will be there to pick it up. Does it get better than that? We didn't know enough to use other services they offer this year but next year that is another story! Thank you so much for all the value you added to our vacation!

While in Rodanthe, NC my family rented two double kayaks and had a blast paddling around the sound…read more This is an excellent adventure to take with kids. The sound is 1' to 3' deep so tip overs (if they were to happen) are not going to happen in deep waters. The kayaks are light - my wife nor I had any issues being the main paddler - we each had a kid in helping. We saw some fish, pelicans, and many sea gulls during our two hour rental. We dropped anchor (me holding onto the kayak) and got out and walked / played in the water midway as well. See my pics, this was a great time in the calm sound side waters. They close at 5pm most days so plan accordingly.

Rental rate for wave runner is slightly discounted if staying on camp site ($55 for half hour jet ski but can't go too far north/south of the sound) Stayed at camp site #7 which has a view of the sound. Strong wind coming in from ocean side so make sure you have something solid to prevent the tent from blowing in (I used coolers).

James stayed in touch each morning, planning lessons based on the wind. He even picked my friend up on the jet ski at our rented house for each lesson. By the 3rd day James had my friend riding and starting to stay up wind. I highly recommend KCH and especially James.
