Back in Oct 17th 24 I sent this company over $200 worth of cards for them to purchase. I got an email claiming that my cards were "damaged" and all they could offer me was $150. I said I would accept the $150. It is now Jan 5th 25 and no money has been sent. I have sent them several emails. Every time I am told "We are experiencing major changes and aren't sure when the money will be sent!" They unable to send me my cards back despite not being able to pay me. WORST online company I have ever dealt with. On 7/21/25 I ordered three boxes of the new Magic the Gathering: Edge of Eternities. As of today, 8/6/25, they have yet to ship them out. I have sent multiple emails to them that have all gone unanswered. Interestingly enough the product still shows as being a preorder even though it release date was 8/1/25. More interestingly is the fact that ALL Magic products have been removed from their website save for one. In addition to not being to reach them by email, their phone number has been cut off. I don't know if they are going out of business. However, other products can still be purchased on the website and from their eBay store. Used their buylist. I understand not all my cards were in mint condition and expected as much. But I still have not received my funds far after the deadline. The only positive thing I can add, is that they have at least communicated with me thoroughly up until I criticized them for not having my funds by the time they said they would. I was polite, didn't use foul language, and didn't insult them. I simply criticized them for not upholding their end of the transaction, told them they came recommended from friends, and I need these funds quickly. I was led to believe that this company was a good service for selling older cards (such as yugioh or magic the gathering) and that I would get a fair price per a friend of mine as he used their service before and seemed to not have any issue. I was wrong. Their customer service is horrible at best. The initial process for selling my cards to them seemed pretty easy enough but once i mailed my cards in, their customer service was non-existent. You cannot get anybody on the phone. Nobody ever answers. The only option on their website is to submit a form for your issues. They don't even have an option like a live chat to speak with someone online. They take weeks to respond via email. As others have said, I too was told that my cards were "damaged" and that their original offer was lowered. As I need the money, I accepted the new offer. I sent the few cards I wanted to sell to them over a month ago and have yet to be paid for what I sold to them even after they finally got back to me weeks later about their offer once they received my cards. I would HIGHLY recommend seeking other businesses if you are looking to sell your trading cards. I guess I should have known better since the word TROLL is in their business title. should my sale ever be resolved i will never use them again. A couple years ago I noticed on their "Buy List" they were paying about $300 for a reverse holo crystal ho-oh in near mint condition. I had one in a CGC case at a 7.5 near mint and thought it was a good price so I cracked the case (DID NOT DAMAGE THE CARD I AM POSITIVE) And sent it to them. They claimed it wasn't near mint according to THEIR people and paid me 1/3 of the price. I tried to call and ask if they could send it back and they said they wouldn't. I think they just forgot to update their buy-list and know they overpaid for the card and screwed me over to make up for it. A 7.5 is a near mint grade. CGC are harsh graders also. I am never doing business with them again unless they make this right. read more

I have used trollandtoad randomly over the years when I stack up a bunch of things that they have on their buylists for pretty good prices, but never again. Every single time I've sent cards into them they are quick to email me about how a good portion are not in good condition and that they're just going to keep them for free, and they'll take a chunk out of my payment, but take forever to send the payments out. The amount of times I've had an order at the "confirmed, pending payment" screen for multiple months is astonishing. Customer service never answers the phones​ or returns voicemails, probably because they get bombarded with people wondering why it's been 4 months and they haven't been paid. "This is just our company policy" Now I have to spend even more money to expedite the missing cards. This used to be a good company in 2011. Now it is just trash. I used to buy trading card boxes and singles from TrollandToad.com as an avid and loyal customer. Recently, I needed to get some cash quickly, so I decided to sort out cards I no longer needed (many of which were M/NM singles purchased from T&T that were immediately cased and put in a protective binder) to sell to T&T. They graded many of them as much worse than the conditions they graded them when selling which was immensely suspicious, but I needed the cash, so I gave the go ahead to complete the sale. It has been WEEKS that I was supposed to get paid to my PayPal, and they've now gone silent after a cheap email that claimed "Oh, you're past the 10 day payment period for a buylist order, we'll get our accounting department to expedite payment" that I finally got back days ago. It's a true shame as I liked their website, but I can only conclude that they've become immensely scammy in the past years. I would deeply suggest not to buy their overpriced singles and products and to DEFINITELY stay away from theur buylist department. read more

They will try to hustle you out your cards. DO NOT use this site they will try to send your cards back to you at your own expense. They liars and play stupid, play your cards right and they will just send back your cards without you paying them if you are currently working with them. They might claim your cards are fake or try to hustle you out of money. My suggestion use mercari if you can't afford to pay for listings or shipping costs. I sent in about 300 cards that were given listings on the website. Immediately upon receipt I got an email back that they were not in good enough condition to review and sent them back at my expense. This is a lie as in reviewing my cards, they were all in Near Mint condition. They simply did not want to take the time to review my cards and thought it would save them time to return to me. Troll and toad is the worst buylist website on the entire internet. In case you don't know what a buylist is, it is a way for the consumer to send collectible trading cards to a company. The buylist is exactly how much the company will pay for each card. The process is you submit your cards and ship them to the company. The company grades the card and pays you in cash or credit. Currently in the market there are over 10 companies that have large buy lists. Troll and toad is the worst for a variety of reasons. 1. They take a over a month to process your cards after received. Typical time period is 1-2 days. 2. They grade cards at significantly worse condition then they were sent in. They are the only buylist on the internet with a quick pay option to accept all condition grades they give to get paid faster. This is essentially a license to steal from the consumer. 3. Cards they don't accept are shipped haphazardly and often damaged. 4. It can take an additional month to get paid after, if they do pay you. You are going to have to harass the hell out of them to get paid. They figure the people that walk away is their gain. 5. Elusive and impossible to contact. They never return emails promptly and customer service is 100% the most unhelpful of all buylists. This card fraud company puts a stain on Kentucky. read more

They refused to accept my cards after a glance. I had them appraised by a former employee of a card shop most have heard of to be sure. They just didn't want to bother with my order. Had to call them daily because their site wouldn't give me info about my order. I'm still going through my cards and I am not sure if cards are missing. I entrusted them with something valuable from my childhood based on reputation and recommendations from friends, and it kills me to sell, but if I can't sell, it hurts not to have them back. I worked at the company for a little over a year and half and spent a month in their buylist, and I will confirm every thing the community says about them. They are, undoubtedly, the worst card retailer to buy from. They operate out of the American Greeting Card Building in Corbin, Kentucky and this building is almost 60 years old. The company payed for an extensive roof fix last year and it was a huge waste of time and money. The leaks have moved to new spots and the drains for the roof still pour water out onto the floor when it rains. On top of the deplorable conditions, when you ask for an opportunity to improve and learn more like other companies allow you to do they ignore you, take away your pay and priveleges, and then fire you for not conforming. Favoritism, Nepotism, and Sexual Pressuring is commonplace in the environment and if you don't hop on the "bandwagon", you will get pressured out of the workplace. Working in their buylist, I can confirm that they like to scam people. They offer you very little in return for your cards, as compared to private collectors so I would recommend that anyone who decides to sell their cards or private collection of TCG product sell it to someone who will pay you what it's worth. They have a policy of strictly grading their incoming buylist orders, and the people who handle the orders when they come in the mail do not do so gently. They rip open the boxes and the packages aggressively, sometimes using box cutters and knives, to try and speed up and meet their quota, and end up damaging a customers' order. The current CEO has a habit of displaying personal information with fellow employees, without consent, like: rate of pay, bank routing number, and healthcare info. This is a violation of the Privacy Act and punishable in court of law. read more

They don't actually bother to buy stuff that is on their buylist. Don't bother buying or selling with these guys. Even stuff they have 0 in stock of, and list as selling for a lot, they won't buy. Not even will make an offer for a pittance! I didn't want much, I know they probably need high profit margins to keep going. But not even an offer of $5 offer for an item they could sell for $40. Their buylist claims they will give you $26 for that $40 mini, and that they want two of them. So I sent them what they clearly needed/wanted! It was on their f'in list! I wasn't even expecting the full amount since the card is missing. But no, not even an offer for one fifth of the expected sale value! These guys are useless trolls, who waste your time. Not a single mini I sent in they 'wanted'. Somehow I doubt their sorters did anything at all. If they don't want to carry miniatures and resell them, they should stop bothering to claim on their website that they want any of the stuff. I wouldn't blame them for wanting to focus on bigger moneymakers like MTG, but they at least should have the decency to admit they no longer want to be in the business of selling miniatures. At least have the decency to change their website to show they don't want to buy the stuff anymore, just sell whatever they have left and then drop the product. ***Consumers Beware***I sent in some Pokemon cards to sell via the "Buy list" program. The cards that were sent were all in great condition (kept in sleeves). I checked the box to have credit added to my account which gives a "Bonus for troll cash" of $9.98. The total credited to my account was only $26.95. I contacted Troll and Toad and was told that one of the cards was not in mint condition which took the total below $30 so the bonus was no longer offered. All cards were sent in perfect condition. Based on the businesses discretion the total is reduced so the business does not have to offer the credit they advertise. I asked for the card to be returned to me as I knew it was definitely not in poor condition. I was then told I would need to pay for shipping to get the card back after I already paid out of pocket expenses to ship all cards to them first class priority mail with tracking confirmation. If I do not pay the shipping the business can keep the card they did not pay me any amount for as they rejected it and sell it to another consumer. I asked them to please pay me the remaining amount in cash and close my account as I will not continue business with them. I have not received the $26.95 and they have all of my cards. I will not do business with them again and will continue to warn others of their concerning and fraudulent practices. read more
