The presentation was in response to my request for an estimate to paint my house. The professionalism was exceptional in that every detail of the work plan was clearly explained. Although questions were welcomed, none were needed. There was no pressure to make an immediate decision. Material was left for me to review at my leisure. This Company knows how to make a prospective customer feel comfortable and well informed. Since this was my first estimate, I have nothing to compare it to. Hired them to repaint the house. While most of the work on the walls was fine, all of the other problems make me strongly discourage hiring this company for all but the simplest of jobs. Upon completion of the job I noticed none of the interior doors closed properly. Upon further inspection I discovered that for some reason all of the hinge screws were replaced with random mix and match screws with various head types which made the doors unable to close. I complained and asked that they be replaced with proper hinge screws and they said they would do that. Unfortunately, they instead selected very thick, long screws which were still not hinge screws (see photo comparing hinge screws with what they selected). The doors were usable but still did not operate like they did before. As these screws were very oversized I was forced to remove them all, fill the holes with wooden dowels, and then add in the proper hinge screws. This job was made even worse as the painters for some reason took the doors off the frames but painted the hinges, many of which were brand new and needed to be replaced. They also badly scratched every door knob in the house, which was frustrating since they were replaced just before this project started. Outside of the door issues, they forgot to paint a few areas and got paint on trim in a few places, but I would have probably overlooked this had the doors not created hours of labor and cost me hundreds of dollars in replacement hardware. read more

We asked Trombley painting to help rejuvenate our kitchen, bar, and floor to ceiling bookcases, as well as pantry doors. This was a big job. The kitchen and family room were all dark alder wood. we had something like 54 drawers and shelves. All handles needed to be replaced and we weRe having new quartz countertops put in. To fit his schedule, Steve (Trombley) agreed to paint, and then after the construction was done, to come back and fix anything that the work crews messed up. (which turned out to be a lot!). Before we chose Trombley Painting, we visited a few of his reference customers. These were ones that were recent. All gave glowing reviews. I can now say what his reference customers said to me. "EVERYTHING he promised to do, whether written or verbal, he did. The work was on time and top notch." You can COMPLETELY trust Trombley Painting to do the best job possible. Great communication as well as very nice people to work with. AND I need to mention the work of JC who listened to every thing I asked and when he left, his painting skills and friendship were appreciated. This is an unsolicited review. I don't do them often. If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. Short version: They over promised and drastically under delivered, the crew was rude, and the work/material was subpar and drastically late. Full story: We requested quotes from multiple companies and based on our budget and timeline, believed Trombley was the best choice for us. We were impressed with the owner's hands on approach and were genuinely excited to work with his company. Fast forward to the work. The initial project ran over by 10 days (might not sound that bad but this is why they were awarded the project and we provided a fully empty house with no obstructions) and was sloppily completed by bringing on their Foreman to help expedite the last day. We were promised a follow up if we paid for the incomplete work (contract states balance due upon completion) which we were assured would be one half day of "touch ups." At this point, we knew not to trust Steve, the owner, and planned for a full day. Work was not completed that full day or even the following full day follow up. In the process multiple things were broken, damaged, incomplete per the quote, including huge scratches in our hardwood floors because the crew seemed to be unhappy at the task of completing their job. Steve would drop by the house unannounced and make threats about the $500 security hold while they finished the "touch ups" which still aren't complete (at this point they do more damage than good so we are firing them and taking this as a loss). Steve also has sent aggressive and threatening texts to us with horrible spelling and grammar (showing how manic he is). Another testament to the mismanagement is that the crew actively bad mouthed the owner and multiple office workers have blamed a mass exodus of people quitting as part of the mis management. We are considering legal action - will update this post after the outcome. You'd be better off with an unlicensed painter off Craigslist, I'd avoid this company at all costs. This is my first review ever, I generally give everyone the benefit of doubt and as much grace as possible but this was over the top and I felt like I needed to share. read more

I had enough of waiting to get my master bedroom wall finished and someone to do my bathroom before I bought new pieces and Steve sent someone over the day of which was on a holiday! The worker was here from 10 to 5 and worked all day long and I am happy that I didn't have to do it. Great communication, very nice workers. We recently asked Trombley to paint the exterior of our Paso Robles home. We were very pleased with their work. Joe offered helpful advice for our color scheme. He demonstrated his dedication to excellence by adding details, like the mail box stand, that added to our home's curb appeal. Trombley used great attention to detail to ensure very careful paint coverage. Trombley started with a single primer coat followed by two coats of Dunn Edwards paint. I would note that their bookkeeper appears to need some training in the use of their accounting software to produce accurate invoices. However, my wife and I do recommend Trombley to produce an excellent paint job. read more

I would not recommend this company. Initially, we had them come out to look at doing our island toe kicks to color match. When he returned to paint the toe kicks, he clearly was having issues that day. He continued to leave to take a personal phone call and then tried leave after doing one coat on my toe kicks. I had to point out all of the errors that still need to be corrected. After 30 minutes of him adding a second coat, he tried to leave. I again had a point out paint that was on my floor and other areas that were not fully covered. He told me that was the best he could do and to contact the company to find somebody else to come out. The company sent somebody else out who did a cleaner job. I understand people have rough days, but you need to be able to leave that at the door or reschedule. We had a chip in our cabinet door that they said could be color matched. After two weeks going back-and-forth they were able to color match it in the best of their ability. However as he was installing the cabinet, he drop some thing in my sink and took a chip out of the garbage disposal rim. After he left I reached out to him and he denied doing it. this is a brand new home and a chip like that doesn't just happen. There are better paint companies in our country and easier to work with. read more

We hired a representative from TROMBLEY paint up here in Idaho to fix our banister. Within the first year one of the Upper Newell posts started to lose the clear coat eventually the stain clear down to bare wood. Bill came back twice to address the same issue without indicating anything serious was happening other than slap on more stain be done. Now 930.64 later our banister is losing clear coat and stain and needs to be redone Steve is washing his hands of any responsibility since warranty is up. He takes no responsibility for his representative who did this work only indicating he no longer works for them... we are looking at three times the amount to fix this Steve has us on a technicality not his fault and we should go to manufacturer on this could be bad product. That isn't even working out because his painter used some stain no one seems to know what the product was he used now neither the office or Steve will return our calls. WARNING...... know the company you hire the expertise of whom they employ... read more

This company painted the outside of a two story structure in 2013. Fast forward five years, I noticed the painting peeling along two sections of fascia exposing the bare wood. These sections do get hit by direct sunlight and the wood could have been moist. I contacted Trombley, Steve came out to take a look and within a few weeks a painter arrived to do "warranty" work. I hired Trombley painting for the interior of my home and then again for my salon. I was very happy with how both turned out. When we purchased our home we wanted to add a little color and accent walls in each room and living room. Their suggestions were very helpful when deciding color since we have a few high vaulted ceilings. Both men that came were polite, clean and considerate of my home. So without hesitation I hired them again to paint my salon I just opened. They were in and out in less than a day. They clear coated and sealed the concrete floors that now look shiny and clean. Steve showed up and gave a bid in no time. Bob and Frank started the job shortly thereafter. I've hired a lot of contractors in my time as a homeowner, and I can say with total certainty I have NEVER had a better experience. Bob and Frank CARED about the job; made sure everything was done; totally meticulous. There was SO much prep to do and it was done quickly and professionally. Had I left the house another year, there is no doubt the siding would have been ruined (if it ever rains). For the first time in 9 years of living here, I actually LOVE my house. It is beautiful. Frank and I did a walk-through (exterior, actually, so I guess walk-around) when he and Bob were finished; found VERY little that needed attention; he took care of it immediately. Steve came by and we did the same thing; he found a couple items to correct, but nothing I would have even noticed! I can't recommend this business enough. No, it's not cheap, but it's worth every single penny. Steve makes sure what he says will be done IS done, and Bob and Frank - the actual painters - did the same. Always kept me in the loop, never treated me like "the little woman" who needed to be coddled OR who needed to be helped/guided in her choices - I loved pretty much the whole experience! I was very pleased with Steve Trombley and the two person team he sent for my residential home painting project. We were under a very tight time-line between closing escrow and the huge moving van full of our furniture arriving. We had the painting job scheduled and at the very last minute I learned that escrow was delayed so we had to reschedule. When I called Trombley with very little advance notice Steve still managed to get his crew to my home and complete the job before the moving van showed up the next day. The final paint job was amazing it doesn't even look like the same house. Steve even talked me into staining the brick work in the front of the house which I was Leary of but he was right and it turned out great. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Steve Trombley. He came to my home months ago and checked a painting job I had done that turned out not so good. He even met with the handyman who did it as well as other projects and had him remove a very bad tile job he did. Steve was my angel or so I thought. He seemed very qualified and was a take charge type guy, Just what I needed at that point. He quoted me a price to fix things and we signed the agreement. He sent over his painter, Tami, and she painted all the insides of cabinets and did a perfect job. I was very happy with the quality... This was half of the job he agreed to though. He was paid for it and he told me to call when new tile was in to complete fixing insides of doors. I did, about 6 or more times. He never called me back. I still have no clue what happened or why. My cabinets are still not finished and I'm just tired of getting ripped off, and trusting the wrong people to do the work. I do not berate the quality of Steve's work, only agreements and promises he does not intend on keeping. Very disappointed! read more

I hired Trombley to refinish and re stain my front door and side lites in October, 2013 which they said would be completed in a professional and timely manner. They sent a "painter" who did not prep the door properly and so the stain did not uniformly apply to the door and appeared streaked and blotched. The only solution was to paint the door and so he primed the door including the hinges and knobs. The door was never removed. The next day he couldn't unlock the dead bolt and so he broke it off and the door was painted a dark brown. A locksmith was called and the part ordered, which took about six weeks. During that time I and the locksmith were both badgered with phone calls, he for the part and I for payment. I wasn't going to pay them until the broken deadbolt was fixed. When the dead bolt was replaced I agreed to pay them for a painted door even though they wanted full payment for the stained door. I also paid the locksmith. I have since noticed that the paint has started to come off and the white primer is showing thru the dark brown paint. I'll retouch it myself as I would not want Trombley back again, ever! read more
