For years now, this has been my go-to barber shop. Even though I'm married, with a house of my own, my mother thinks this is the best haircut I ever get. James is a master of his craft and I've been going to him ever since I was randomly assigned to him on my first visit. It's never a rushed hair cut and I'm probably there for about a half hour, but I'm more than happy with it. I've seen the price of a cut raise a few bucks since I started going there, but the entire Ardmore area is having real estate hikes. Reminds me of the places I got my haircut years ago where a sharp-looking cut was done with professional skill and speed in a no-nonsense setting. This is a barbershop and not a salon. Phil and James are not high priced "stylists." They'll give you an excellent cut for $20. I very much recommend this shop and hope it comes back after the Coved scare abates. read more

I wanted to like this place with its old school feel but the owner sat watching tv with out a mask. 5 minutes later he came back with his lunch to watch tv and eat. The person cutting my hair did a terrible job. I went home and had my wife make the sides even. read more

Friendly. Informative. Effective. Arrived on a Thursday morning at opening. Phil let me know he had an appointment and that James would not be there for half an hour if I wanted to wait. James showed up early and understood what I wanted and went straight to work. Phil asked questions and made it a welcome experience. James got the work done and was appreciative of my gratuity tip. Great little barber shop in an awesome location. Living local to here has given me a barbershop within walking distance to my place and the train. I would call ahead to make sure there's a spot but they also take walk ins. $18 for a haircut is pretty good too for the area. read more

I have been getting my hair cut at Troncelliti's Barber Shop for the better part of the past fifteen years. Phil Troncelliti runs this shop in a professional, friendly, straightforward, and no frills way. During the week, you'll need an appointment. On Saturday, it's first come, first served. Phil and Mike have been there for a long time, and both do an excellent job with my difficult, straw-like hair. Mike is an old school Italian barber. He'll even clean up the edges with a straight razor at the end of your haircut. Phil will talk with you about all kinds of stuff if you're interested. He's a pretty knowledgeable guy. It makes visiting a lot of fun. My daughters sometimes come with me, and the guys are always really nice to them. They keep a jar of lollipops for kids. They're always easygoing with the young boys whose hair they cut. To the extent that people have complaints about service, I think you have to take them with a grain of salt: based on my experiences, it seems the complainers are probably themselves to blame for bad experiences. You can't show up at 9:00 and expect to get your hair cut right away, and if you show up during the week without an appointment, don't be surprised if they can't squeeze you in. (The fact that they're frequently booked up speaks to the fact that they have many happy customers.) In all, this is a great neighborhood barber shop. Highly recommended. read more

I walk into this place, and having very long hair, immediately catch looks from both barbers. Not a single word was said to me until the a seat was ready. Now, I totally understand that it would be frustrating seeing someone with long thick hair come into a barber shop, because I'm sure they knew they were in for a decent amount of work. I was told to sit by an Asian man who spoke extremely broken English, and asked what I was looking for. I simply wanted the back and sides buzzed, and the rest slicked back to the back of my head. I even showed a picture, for which he meticulously studied and asked specifics. He proceeded to cut off my ponytail, wrap it up, disgusted, like it was dog crap, and gave it back to me to keep. Most likely to donate or something. He then proceeded to go to TOWN on my head taking off ANY bit of length my hair had, and trimmed everything down to maybe 2-3 inches of length. Now it looks nice for what it is, but I asked for longer length because I have a pretty large head and it looks nicer on me. Now for the good part...The sign says haircuts are $19. Also they are CASH ONLY. I didn't see anything saying cash only, so I had to run to the ATM and come back. I give him $25, EVEN THOUGH HE GAVE ME THE BOOT CAMP SPECIAL HAIRCUT. He then proceeds to look at the money...then out the window...shaking his head like I just gave him Monopoly money. He then asks for $29 because I was a "SPECIAL CUT". I exaggeratively looked around for ANYTHING with a price other than $19 and, to no one's surprise, found nothing. He then said "fine" and shooed me away. The other barber said nothing the entire time, and I wasted $25 on a cut I was specifically trying to avoid getting, from a barber who wanted nothing to do with me from the second I walked in, in a barber shop that clearly wants to charge a $10 inconvenience fee if they have to work too hard! Obviously will NEVER go here again or ever recommend to anyone. Make sure you get a haircut before you get a haircut at Tronceliti's barber shop!! read more

And yet, whenever I'm back in town, I stop by the neighborhood barber shop that knows me well enough that I can ask for "my usual." If you're new, there's a few things you should know: When going on a weekday, make an appointment. Appointments are often available just a few days in advance, but these guys are popular, and making an appointment is the best way to guarantee you have your moment in the chair. Saturdays, however, are walk-in only. So, get there early. read more

Thank goodness hair grows back!!! My normal barber was on vacation so I walked in here. I asked the barber to trim my hair so it was just short enough so that it laid in nicely. He started with the scissor for a couple of minutes. Then he picks up the electric clipper and proceeds to give me a buzz cut. WTF!!!!! I could of done that myself at home myself. I probably won't need another trim for months. Beware and stay away from this place. read more

Worst place I have ever been. I was treated in such an unfriendly way just because I had not schedule an appointment. Definitely not a place I would ever considering coming back. That's the way Piladelphians behave. Mostly defensive, impolite and confrontational. Sad. Anyway, avoid these guys. read more
